Like.. what if one of the updates will be a revamped map, revamped physics, revamped code, everything. Essentially building the game from almost scratch.
This might allow
- Better physics
- Better graphics? (prob not)
- Better optimization
- Better flight model
Although it may also be quite expensive so I'm not sure.
Will Simpleplanes ever be revamped?

I can say with a fair amount of certainty that the physics won't be changed much, if at all, to avoid breaking the hundreds of thousands of existing builds (or whatever ludicrous number we're up to now) that were built with what would then be the "old" physics. I could maybe see updates to the map, but the existing terrain - though unrealistic - is a pretty good environment for testing all sorts of different types of builds, so I'd expect a new map to only come with a new game. New terrain textures and maybe some more trees or buildings would be kinda nice though. So would optimization.
@JuanShot2Go well Simplaplanes really is quite unique. We have a friendly community too and we all practically know each other already so I guess thats why.
As for the update part, fair point. Jundroo does have a limited budget though.
I don't know what priority SP has in Jundroo's range of products. If it were top of the list I think you would see more rapid development. I've played the others and they really have excellent features and arguably a superior physics engine. (or maybe that's my imagination). I get the feeling Jundroo would prefer us to use those games. But there something about Simpleplanes that keeps pulling me back to it that the others dont. The interface perhaps. IDK.
@IceCraftGaming actually age does not mean how it acts
@U2 he's 13
@OwO you act 8
@RepublicOfCursedPlanes that one i can agree, like, **what is the airport's purpose if there is no one other than ai planes and you aka the player?
@Numbers2 yeah ig
Look forking out cash for sp2 is better because rather than the Devs just doing hours of work into sp for something they can do in a new game really its either you make a new game and see what it can achieve rather then oh yay a smool update that causes more issues and stuff I mean last Major update messed up the AI and how it works @ThePilotDude @FlirBlitz @IceCraftGaming
@OwO awesome
now you can flex on the community for staying undetected
Evil laugh*
im 13 now
what 32 and ThePilotDude said
@Default4 Andrew did mention a distinct possibility of SP2
here
@Chancey21 sp2 is NEVER happening, I can tell you that lol
nope
@jamesPLANESii the most annoying thing I found about the maps is that there are literally no buildings on the islands; all the airports are just serving dirt and grass
@jamesPLANESii its a game why would realistic maps matter when in reality, its not even necessary whatsoever since, well, its a game, people can do whatever they want on a game
@RepublicOfCursedPlanes there’s still VR too.
@jamesPLANESii In this case, you know about the attraction "optimization time"
@FlyingPatriot Bro f^^^ that "vanilla" style then. The complete lack of any signs of life and the noob quality terrain is the main thing I hate about it. The map is basically devoid of anything to do and it lacks realism. A custom made map should have way more to do in it and things to see than the SP map has.
SP is currently just a building game. You can download stuff but once you've done that there's really not all that much to do other than the rather basic challenges or just fly for ages to another airport or shoot down other planes. Creating a map may be relatively time consuming, but I have had a go myself and it really isn't all that hard.
@jamesPLANESii I'm just curious what you want in the new map... Because if you follow the vanilla style, you will have to create islands completely devoid of vegetation and small details. And creating islands in itself is difficult...
The developers of KSP2 say hello to you all. Unity's default physics are a poor sight. But we need a new rendering system. We are sorely lacking in soft shadows and diffused light.
a new map plzzzzzzzzzz
@Sm10684 in my opinion, the name’s probably stuck, since it’s still catchy unlike “SimpleRockets2”
And the game is still “simple”, in that beginners who have absolutely no idea how to build planes can do so here. Flying is also a lot easier; you don’t see pilots in real life using a touchscreen or WASD keys to fly their planes
Agreed
