Hey everybody, as many of you know (and many probably don't), me and @UnstableOrbit are working on a multiplayer mod, and some people aren't sure if their information on it is up-to-date (release date is still TBD, FYI), so I've opened up a "Discussion" on the Steam Modding forum for SimplePlanes, here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/397340/discussions/1/451851477875804798/
We'll be posting new information there, like our incredibly sporadic dev logs (don't worry, you didn't miss them, I mean the dev logs are going to be sporadic, because progress is sporadic).
I'll still post anything major here, but you can't hit a "Subscribe" button to receive notifications for replies to simpleplanes.com posts XD
After PC is done we may look into Android, but Apple's policy makes iOS impossible.
Mobile pls. @HellFireKoder
So I guess this whole thing was a flop given that this was posted five months ago

Great!
@mattmck Bugs that for all we can tell shouldn't happen, SimplePlanes code base isn't very conducive to multiplayer, and because of "life" we haven't exactly had much time to work on it :/
@HellFireKoder oh i see, may i ask why the release date is taking long? is it because of major lag and rendering of multiple islands at once?
@mattmck Still don't know about release, sorry...
and there (probably?) won't be a setting for local, it will basically just work, and you will type in the local IP address of the host machine instead of the global IP (it already works, so... yeah... maybe I could make a server option that doesn't open ports on your router, so that people can't connect from outside your network, but that'd only be a problem if you told everyone your IP, so I'm not sure...)
@HellFireKoder hey, i dont have access to steamcommunity on my pc when will it be released and will there be a local setting?
@HellFireKoder Okay
@SimpleTechAndResearch Currently there is no set player limit, and hopefully that will be a host option, but really it depends on all players PCs combined with how big the designs are (physics are turned off on other people's designs, but tons of parts still takes a tiny bit to render, and then there's parts detaching and stuff), and bandwidth (this is less relative to how big a design is, unless it detaches/breaks, since the main craft is synced as one instead of individual parts, but when parts break they are synced separately).
TL;DR yes.
So (not asking when it's coming out) but will it support more then 2 Players?
@HellFireKoder ok cool 😁..... I usually only play on android but if you release the pc version I will have to get a pc 😁
@bullman518 "probably this year"... for PC. Don't know what I'll be able to do for android, but will probably look into it after PC.
Do you have an estimate of when it's gonna be done??
@TheMajesticMrL Thanks =D
Best of luck on this.
Keep up the good work. :)
@HellFireKoder thanks
@Flightsonic I forgot everyone thinks any fiddling with settings or routers or computers at all is hacking... good luck!
@HellFireKoder Lol but i probaly can get my neighbor to host it (He may not tho) and if my dad would believe me i'm not trying to hack he may ask the IT people at his work (Well at least he doesn't want to)
@Flightsonic But anyway, that's just for hosting the server, if you're not worried to much about being the host, then it's not a problem...
If you do wanna be the host, then... IDK, threaten your router, or beat it until it does what you say to :P
@Flightsonic You mean you did it manually? This does it automatically if possible.
It might not work, actually, it doesn't work for me, but if it can, it'll handle it automagically, otherwise... the router sucks (yes, my router sucks :/)
(it's also possible for it to be a setting on many routers... mine cooperated for like 5 minutes once, but I couldn't get it to work for longer, and I forgot how I even did that)
@HellFireKoder I've tried port fowarding may times but my router says it tneed to be reset to default first
@Flightsonic If your router supports UPnP, like I think most do these days, yes it should handle port forwarding.
@HellFireKoder wait does that mean port fowarding like minecraft (or any other examples)
@RedstoneArmory Ok.
