So many fabulous creations by the community. I've noticed that some builders lovingly recreate the complicated startup sequences and operation of a plane while others, like me build more arcade style controls. Also, people are very purist when it comes to their own individual approach. What type of control schemes do you build and why does it feel more fun for you than doing it the other way?
I am a first person guy. I like to build cockpits with functional gauges and controls and also some form of different auto pilot systems. A few of my creations even have a first person walker. I am not so much into replicas but try to give my fictional creations realistic or at leas plausible flight, driving or diving characteristics.
So, cockpit layouts?
Sim, Cuz I'm Simmer/Sim Builder
Yaw for steering and pitch for forward/reverse in non-vr cars, for vr, a fighter throttle with a reverse switch
when I make a plane fly realistically and it adds realism to it
I like making my builds like a simulator since it adds some realism to it
Sim. Arcade just feels gross and boring.
Here’s my reasoning
What is ace combat known for? Lore and enticing fast paced gameplay
What are flight simulators like DCS or IL2 known for? Life like realism, slow paced but rewarding gameplay
With this in mind I don’t have a zoomer brain so there’s that I guess
@32 Literally the reason I haven't uploaded anything in a year 😅
Simulation
Arcade, because I suck at flying. Besides, it gives me an opportunity to apply some funny math to SP
@32 I've already spent two days on one functional display screen. I used calc to get equations for engine parameters and may too much code.
definitely the older, arcady ones. these newer creations that require you to start up procedure your own goddamn body make my singular brain cell hurt and its just painful when i find a craft that looks and flies amazing but needs you to do a freaking calculus lesson just to get it to move
as for my own stuff, ill do arcade style ofc but if i have the time to do so i'll leave in a simple interior with basic controls and switches (nothing special)
@2Papi2Chulo hey I won't stop you, but your family may wonder why they haven't seen you in 5 years.
@32 sounds like a challenge to make one perfect
Here's my thoughts: You can never make a perfect plane. SimplePlanes will never allow you to get 100% accuracy on your builds. You can get like 95%, but that takes thousands of parts and still isn't quite perfect. With that in mind, I would rather see planes that are fun to fly or are useful. Helicopters that can lift things, A-10s with ridiculous amounts of ordinance, or cars that are completely fictional but drive like a dream. To be honest, the experience trumps realism for me. If it looks perfect, that's a bonus.
I personally prefer Sim.
