Recently i noticed that my low_effort post was doing better then one that I made in over 6 months. it seems that the post "Quadcopter but with a twist" is about 390 downloads and "Ferrari 412 T2 1.0"(half a year to complete) is about 200 downloads. It seems that low-effort funny posts do better then high-effort detailed posts. This is not just a problem with me, i've seen plenty of other peoples builds that are high detail compared to the funny posts they are outnumbered in downloads.

People that like their creation should not compare that creation with others nor the results they bring.” There is nothing wrong with comparing builds. @NoblePlanes ten is pretty impressive tbh, there's some high quality builds out there with 1 - 7 upvotes.
Its everything mentioned below, as well as detailed builds are simply less accessible, which can dissuade users. At the end of the day SP is a game, and people will download whatever they find will maximize their enjoyment of it. Dont beat yourself up about an underperforming post, you should really be building more for yourself and thinking of your profile as more of a storage space for your builds. You are merely a curator of your art exhibit, you shouldn't worry about who doesn't come in, you should focus on satisfying those who do.
Its about visual value, whatever people find the most visually striking, they will download

People are gonna like whatever they like. It doesn't matter. Some glue eater who made a derp build will have his creation upvoted cause everyone thinks it's funny, and that's okay.

You don't get to control what people want to approve by their tastes and what they want leave alone. Just build, enjoy, and post it if you feel like it. Users come across what you made and they find it interesting? Good on you. They don't? Just move on.
tbh it depends on the selling point and how "interesting" it looks on first sight
