What if the devs added a new feature in the next update that added AFTERBURNER(S) to the existing jet engines or added new ones with them, and to activate the afterburner all you would have to do is hold down you "throttle up" key on PC, and for touch screen devices just hold the throttle/yaw joystick up. The afterburner(s) would use up more fuel or could only run for so long depending on the engine.
If you want afterburners to be at 100 %, I can mod some engines to .9 power for you. An engine can only produce so much power. That maximum power is the true 100%. Since this is the state of things, it makes sense that afterburners start at 90%. Not only is there a visual, but there is also an audio indication in the form of a higher pitch. This higher pitch signifies a higher power output. @RamboGaming
I like the idea.
@Cjredwards which is what this community needs to grow
@Cjredwards that would be a cool feature but it might cause some problems especially for new players
@Allstar @amazingperson124 I've seen the BEF-120s afterburners and there cool and resources but theirs indication that your using your afterburner(s) except for the jet plume and new players aren't going to know bcause it's not in the tutorials, but what should be changed is that 90% throttle now will be 100% throttle if this is added and so I you hold the throttle button down its 110% or your afterburner(s) and it uses a little more fuel to where you notice it a bit more
We technically already have afterburners. The BFE-120s, when throttled up past 90% produce an afterburn effect. I've tested their fuel efficiency myself and gound out that they burn a little bit more than a gallon of fuel per second. If that's not good enough for you, then users like @SpiritusRaptor have managed to create their own afterburners with modded VTOL engines. It's actually quite clever and is activated by an action group.
The BFE 120 already has afterburners.
I like it, only if when the engine over heated it cut off, or had a chance of exploding👍🏾
This sounds like a good idea, and would eliminate needing to create an after burner out of another enging.
