Maywar Standard
War in the Gulf of Maywar!
22 October 1961
Prelude:
At 0652hrs GST (Gulf Standard Time), the Maywari frigate MCS Taraf detected a flight of 4 P.7 strike aircraft from the Wright Isles approaching with a weapons lock. The Taraf is thought to have fired a salvo of 6, MNAD, surface to air missiles with 5 tracking and one believed to have detonated some 2000 yards behind the target, the culprit supposedly being a malfunctioning proximity sensor.
Of the 5 missiles that tracked, 3 managed to hit their targets with an unknown quantity of pilots subsequently being detained by the Maywari Naval Security Forces.
A full squadron of visiting SADF SF-115 Pike interceptors was also scrambled due to the activation of Clause 6, in which the Snowstone government has an agreement with Maywari officials to defend eachothers territory to contain perceived Wright Treaty nations and their perceived expansionism, in lieu of last year's fishing scandal.
Current Events:
- Warfare has been limited and rather dispersed due to the great distances involved.
- After a failed strike on the Pyramid Factory Complex in Razka, Maywar, the Treaty Nations have significantly scaled back manned aerial operations and are sending remote controlled aircraft to saturate Maywari air defences.
As an editor's note, as per state guidelines, I am required to urge all civilians to stay indoors unless you possess a NatWorker card.
Also, any incursion within 600 yards of any military installation is an arrestable offence and you will be charged with treason and espionage.
Stay safe folks :)
