Tips for Getting Noticed in the community/getting upvotes and points

162k spefyjerbf  8.8 years ago

I'm not extremely experienced or anything, but I might have some tips for newcomers in the community.

  1. If possible, make your own unique building style. Everyone who is silver+ has their own style. Building style can be anything from paint jobs to the very design of each plane.

  2. Use screenshots when posting. Be sure that the screenshots capture the perfection of your creation.

  3. Be strategic when you post. Post at a time that many people will be using the SP site. Don't post during school hours, or late at night.

  4. Use descriptions on your planes.

  5. Use plane tags.

  6. Learn to use structural panels and fuselage blocks.

  7. Try to be innovative. Think out of the box. Most of the most successful builds are ideas that stand out from the others.

  8. Having a reliable follower base is great. To get followers, simply make great builds. Yes, it is easier said than done, but it is possible.

  9. Don't beg for upvotes.

  10. Be proud of your work. Even if it isn't noticed, you should be proud of it.

I hope that this helps the newer players out there. Some of you might be skeptical of me, because I am not gold, but I, too, am relatively new to the community.

I am new-ish and only got to 30 points because I got a follower. The best way to get a good follower is to first, post a few planes. 2- find an okay silver/gold player with a cool plane. 3- ask a question about his/her plane. once he/her answers back suggest looking at on of you planes. If they do upvote or comment or just download, comment and on one of their planes. Hopefully they will upvote another on of your planes.

Definitely after you get bored from the hours of homework of the days you've skipped to play SP and when you're up at 2 in the morning, like totally you make a plane that looks like a flying moldy pancake and handles the same

I post from 5:00-6:30, usually if I have a build coming out it will be then. I suggest to new users try thinking of a really cool craft, look around and see if it's been built before, if it hasn't you're good to spend a long time on it and post at a good time. I can't say much cause I've been here over a year, but my first few builds were ones that I hadn't seen before. I grew in popularity by making friends on the site and having really good original builds like the Bat and some Star Wars stuff.

@Delphinus yeah, heaps of my builds that I spent a long time on. Sometimes they might get, let's say, 2 upvotes. I can't build anymore because my iPod can't run SP.

For me the best time is the middle of the night. I would say at least 90% of people i follow(thats alot of people lol) post at 2-4 am Australian time. I usually wake up to over 60 notifications which sucks because i cant look at all of them. Good tips though :)

Guys it really helps to start a fictional company. Then you can include that in the name, and if the company name is good enough then it will make people imterested. Also, when you are silver its pretty cool.

@rexinn thats because they were added 3 or 4 months ago. The reason that I don't get a ton of upvotes is the late at night thing. My fatal flaw.

6 is definitely a big one I've been on for about a year and only in the past 3 or 4 months learned about fuselage blocks and because of that I'm growing a lot faster than about 7 months ago
