Hello, i have an aircraft https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/iRi6V0/Eurofighter-Typhoon-v2 . It has around 4k drag points. I made it as smooth as possible with almost no sharp hard edges, but still.
I tried playing dogfighting against https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/sC2a3y/Soviet-MiG-17-PF and https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/bzf9l8/F22
(the fighter challenge :D) and loses in speed even though i had the same weight (they had 2k drags).
Does anybody knows the technique on how to build a low drag one or do i need to xml mod them?
Thanks again

DRAG has the most impact out of everything in the game.
The lower your drag the faster your straight line speed will be. Just to remind everyone drag is caculated live, so whatever part of your plane is moving forward that part will be experiencing drag.
You can put 50 blasto120's engines behind a wall that is 20x20 blocks and it will still fly slower than a plane with just one blasto j50 that has low drag.
Wait there's drag?????? I haven't even bothered in so long (besides my flying laptop)
@DeezDucks yeah i did there. So i guess the only option left is to xml mod then.
Use part nudge to make details flush with the body
@AR as far as I know, wings can be more or less ignored for drag purposes. I'm not sure if they have no effect or just a small one, but either way it's not important. The things that bring drag up the most (in the game) are inlets and fuselages that are directly in the wind. Your Eurofighter a) is quite large, and b) has quite a bulky fuselage. Put these two things together and you get a lot of drag.
For comparison, look at any of SpiritusRaptor's planes. Most of them have over 5000 points of drag.
@RocketLL After the Modern Fighter Challenge i found that my aircraft loses because of the drag, the other aircraft goes 800 easily while mine stuck in 500s even though i had the same weight, so it is kind of bothering me.
I usually ignore drag when I build, they don't seem to have that much of an impact.
