@Nerfaddict I used to live in suburbia in Maryland, during the winter season planes would fly low enough to be able to read the livery (5500-5000 ft going to dulles airport, airlines like Qatar, Egyptair, United, Etihad, etc) and on some weekends I could see marine one following the highway to camp david
@Transair56 I had to find my grandparents home on google maps lol.
'bout 14.23 kilometers between there and the hanger.
Roughly 75% the length of an Executor Class Super Star Destroyer.
I have the old Epic of Flight series. Haven't read most of it, all in imperial, started books and never completed them, horribly formatted, and very out of date, but still have a very fond memory of them (just need a calculator handy for unit conversions... and to remember that they predate the fall of the USSR).
I remember rereading Jet Age and gaining a brief obsession with airlines, as is evident by the two airliners I posted years ago.
I guess I have that to credit for my account name, as an off-hand reference to the airline name, which in and of itself was a reference to a joke I made ages ago in the comments section of some sort of pizza slice craft.
Rambling, but planes are still cool
Last time I visited my grandparents I borrowed a pair of binoculars and could, though shakily, see the hanger of the international airport in the distance.
So shaky I could hardly read the Airline name on it.
Planes are cool :)
Cool Fact: That Spirit plane you saw crashed next to my house just now! Everyone died! Apparently no-one could afford the $30 Anti Crash pack so they all died.
@Transair56 the place I live can best be described as housing as far as the eye can see, and the last time I've seen a plane over head was january last year
@SPEX195ALR ok
