Move to Juno: Is it worth it?

46.0k ShinyGemsBro  1.2 years ago

I've been thinking lately whether or not I should head into Juno or stay here.

I took a little stroll through the site and found some pretty cool stuff like planets, systems, and even incredible builds. If my luck allows it, I might just race across space in an X-wing with infinite fuel (assuming that's possible there)

I haven't made up my mind yet, so I'll ask here now to those who have already been there. Is it worth the move?

    @ShinyGemsBro I knew it, I knew I was too late, I knew you had already moved on, I just had to voice my opinion, didn't I.

    @TheAviator77
    I already decided to stay in SP.
    You're late by 4 months.

    Yes. I tried it. I like playing it. It’s great as a second game, but it will never (in my opinion) be as fun as sp. also no weapons :(

    Agree with @PlaneFlightX - at least JUNO is not for me. I tried it because it looks cool, but I feel it is just "another game" not like SP which is a more serious detail-oriented building game -

    idk I got JNO on sale a while back and haven't played it much, mainly since I'm not really committed to moving to it. If SP has gotten old, JNO might be refreshing for you, although keep in mind it's a bit more simulation-minded than SP. The career mode is pretty good, and if you're there to play a game it's probably the superior experience. If you're looking to build something unique I feel like SP is probably better. Also, JNO has no weapons so that might be a dealbreaker for ya.

    - Don't fuel the fire
    - You aren't obliged to reply to idiots
    - I'm a person, not something

    Juno has a lot to like that makes it almost impossible for me to go back to SimplePlanes. When you get used to the designer, I (and everyone else I've seen who's committed to switching) think it is, in most ways, more powerful and more easy to use than the one in SimplePlanes. There isn't any fuselage slicing, but there's a hidden property called clamping that is almost if not equally as powerful, and you can find a mod that makes it accessible through a UI here. And yes, you can fly around in space with an X-Wing — in sandbox mode, there are cheats in the flight info panel on the right side of the screen when you're in flight, including infinite fuel. Just be aware, orbital mechanics will apply.

    I have both, and I strongly prefer SP. The main points are the designer and VR. I find the SR2 designer difficult to use, and it has no VR. In addition, the connection system is really confusing. I don't understand why you can't just have all connection points the same.

    That being said, I have spent some time building and flying rockets. If you like flying rocket related crafts, I'd say go for it, however in my opinion, SP is still the best game for designing, coding, and flying planes.
