@73 Brezhnev era, so... somewhere between '64 and '82, iirc.
Idk when the "Real socialism" campaign(?) happened.
There's a wiki link below for Wikipedia.
@Superliner350 I’m pretty sure the US hasn’t launched any nuclear weapons at other countries. Excluding Hiroshima, which was a bit different than the soviets daring then to prove they had nukes.
The Russian people saw Brezhnev as a wise, calm person, but his government was slow and seemed old-fashioned, but who knows how that happened. This is different from Gorbachev, who was always insulted and cursed at, but was actually appointed as a hero of peace by the world.
Russians called Gorbachev a traitor, destroying the Soviet and its past glories, but America raised him as a hero of peace, because he succeeded in ending the deadly cold war.
@Graingy "Brezhnev is a Corruptor"
Indeed, Brezhenov was a corrupt person, somehow the officials appointed this senile old man as president, plus his slow government caused decline from all sides, which was called The Stagnation.
@Graingy Khruschev was an atheist, so he challenged presidents from all over the world to go into space and prove the existence of God. But what happened next? The world condemned what he did!
.
And the ambition to have nuclear weapons has been going on since the Stalin era, and at that time the Soviet dreamed of becoming the largest superpower in the world, defeating America and its allies.
Once upon a time, the Soviets blew up their own island with their nuclear bombs, this caused American concern, fearing that the Soviets would blow up all of America with their nuclear bombs.
.
Worried about this, America immediately launched propaganda so that the Soviets would immediately stop this action. However, the Soviets actually acted out of bounds and actually challenged the US to launch its nuclear weapons, so inevitably the US agreed, and finally the nuclear war occurred. End. ...Endendendendend...
@Superliner350 "He even invited the American president to hold a nuclear war and compete to find God"
Please, in detail, explain to me what the hell this means.
I am genuinely confused.
(Also, Khrushchev was at least a reformer who tried to change things. Brezhnev was just corrupt.)

@73 also everybody had a Pepsi addiction
@Graingy oh
@73 Ehhh by this point in Soviet history things weren't anywhere near that bad.
North Korea population
@32 (Superliner is… I call them “crusader” for a reason. They’re nice enough, but sometimes I don’t really understand them).

Let us end our lengthy comments, rather than become a target for the Red Army.
I'm done here/
Somehow a meme forum has become a political field, it's beyond reason...

Plus the two old men who continued the government after Breznhev died, the country was even more devastated, it was truly terrifying.

What a lousy bald devil.
@Graingy Oh, so Brezhnev is a bastard? Then Khruschev was even more of a BASTARD.
@Superliner350 Bastard ain't worth being called 'Comrade'.
The USSR had a lot of problems, but Brezhnev was not helping them.
Comrade Brezhnev has failed to realize socialism, it's very sad :(
@Graingy Yes, that's forced socialism.
Yes, that's forced socialism...
@Superliner350 Is it there now?
@Superliner350 So I used the wrong one.
Damnit!
