yes it is i, and yes it has been one and a half years since i promised a new rafale on the original rafale post. but we shall not mention this.
as for the past couple weeks i have rebooted work on the rafale, i thought it was right i make a teaser for it, showcasing all the progress i have made

whats left to do
Rafale cockpit and touchscreen MFDs
the rafale has fully touchscreen MFDs, allowing for a lot of simplicity on top of complexity. unfortunately for me, i have decided to give as much functionality into these MFDs as possible.
along with being able to interact with the individual MFD screens, i will be adding the feature to switch between MFD screens, allowing for each user to create their own setup.
to accomplish this however, i first need to figure out what each screen looks like and its functionality. most of the images on google are low quality, and images from games such as DCS can be unreliable, in the way that the radar screen could be taken from another aircraft.
i have collected some images and have some guesses on what the functionality is to each;
this image seems to be what the IRST sees. in the image, its locked onto another Rafale.
i have concluded this one is most likely to be a fuel information screen, the green bars representing the fill level of each internal fuel tank.
this one is obviously a weapon management screen, which i already have half modeled. blue dots representing hardpoints, yellow as the fuel tanks and green as targeting pods and other munitions.
look closely at this one, this screen is censored at the main focus. you can clearly see a wingtip in green at the bottom left of the censorship, so at first we thought this was an alternate weapons screen, but later i realized this must be a screen indicating various sensors across the aircraft, the yellow arcs representing deadzones.
along with some other images, ive also figured out some other controls and features around the cockpit
if you havent figured yet, this wont be very mobile friendly soon.
the MFDs will be made touchscreen by hidden buttons just behind the screen, as this is the easiest and probably only was to make it happen.
here is what i currently have made, just the 3 screens. i have recently been focusing on other parts of the aircraft, hence the minimal features so far.
progress since 1.5 years ago
i have worked on this on and off since, yet around 50-70% of the aircraft has been replaced or remodeled.
- completely remodeled wings
- completely remade landing gear(M variant, carrier ops)
- 80% of the fuselage has been remade to be MUCH smoother
- flight model is in the process of getting completely rebuilt from scratch
- engines are in the process of being remade
- cockpit and surrounding area has been adjusted from the 2 seat variant to the sing seat variant following the conversion from B to M variant
- livery has been removed(plans are in place to possible add a new one)
- remade the cannon. now uses actual cannon part and has 1:1 ammo and fire rate. (3 seconds of shooting)
- removed all munitions and tanks(temporary for remodel of wings and fuselage, will get re-added)
- cockpit has been rebuilt from the ground up, and is still being built
images
i really hope these images work
To-Do
there is still much to do, especially with the cockpit and MFD plans, itll probably take months
- Finish dynamic engines(ram effect)
- cockpit
- remodel intakes
- add touchups to landing gear
- model radar in nose cone
- finish flight model
- livery(last on the list lmao)
- minor details to texture fuselage
- possibly remake the "shoulders" or the place where the canards are mounted
- remake rudder
- engine startup(maybe)
extra notes
- i have recently purchased VTOL VR, and im going to try and make the cockpit be similar in simplicity and feel, while maintaining numerous features and backhand complexity
- there will definitely be multiple versions to release, with different loadouts and a variant alone for engine startup and such if i decide to add that, aswell as lower performance cost variants.
im not taking tags yet yall its like months before being done
as a final note, im open to all suggestions, questions and feedback relating to the rafale and its features. Thank you for reading!
Dayum, You're Genuinely Good At Ft, Sucks That Im Still A Noob Tho :<
One year? Damn, and I thought I took long with my projects lasting ~6-8 months
@PattyMilk6 sweet!
If my tablet can handle this we could call it mobile friendly @PattyMilk6
@LunarEclipseSP its currently at 590 parts, i think i could keep the final part count well below 1500 parts if not 1000 or just over. most of the MFD screens are just 1 or 2 label parts, with a lot of FT coding to make them work
That would gotta be a lot of parts
Damn
Nice one Daddy, keep it up
