An alternative to drag chutes

319 PlaneMaker12022006  9 months ago

I have recently discovered an incredibly fast way of decelerating. I was testing a vehicle that can reach over 1000 mph and then I wanted it to stop before the end of the runway. I tried high drag parachutes but they are one time use and affect over all drag even when not opened. I have however found a solution! Canopys with the XLM property “drag when open” is set to a high number it will act like an incredibly powerful drag point slowing you to a halt on mere feet!
I hope this helps someone.

Here’s a prototype using the method mentioned above https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/ZR12Pr/Experimental-Drag-deceleration

Yes. Sometimes, and it’s very unpredictable. See this plane I made

@Mousewithamachinegun122 if I set the max value to -1000, will that act as a form of thrust?

What I do is go into overload on an airbrake, and set the max value to somthing around 1000, and then it will slow it down faster, and better. Also, btw, to do a clickable link, do this:

Sadly they make you flip at low speeds
