Anytime Baby! / F-14A Tomcat V3.0
I recently decided to challenge myself to make a Tomcat in the G4 standard and so far, it's been going very well. (Definitely not because I wanted to make another aircraft with the cool green front canopy tint like the F-4S) This being essentially my third Tomcat, the build went much easier than expected.
I'm thinking of making this into a late model F-14A from the 80's, like the previous version. This means that it would get access to the AIM-9L, AIM-54C, and AIM-7F, as well as laser guided munitions and the LANTIRN targeting pod.
As you can probably tell, the project is still in a very early state. Right now, it's just the main fuselage with no extra details and no landing gear yet (which I predict will be an absolute pain). Right now, what you see here is only 217 parts, but I imagine that will skyrocket in a very short amount of time. Currently, I'm working on FT stuff and I plan on completely redoing the sweep/flap/slat/spoiler control system and adding maneuvering flaps/slats.
A preview of what it looks like in grey
And special thanks to BaconEggs for the blueprint. I used this on my previous Tomcat and it is an absolute lifesaver in a world of $#!% "blueprints" from Google.
@TwoTurboMan I haven't had a lot of time to work on it but there has been some progress
The landing gear are in place but are still unfinished and the body is more or less done
I do want to post another devblog soon
@ReinMcdeer hows tomcat going

@ReinMcDeer Any chance for a G4 Hornet?
@ReinMcDeer Only now did I see you said this was a late version, so not having it makes sense. From what I remember the late version had them removed because of their extremely high maintenance compared to its marginal returns in aerodynamics. Happy to see that you’re thinking of making the early version though. In my opinion the folded wings and glove vanes out looks really cool.
@Spitfirelad05 I also did it on my F-14D
@PriusCat Since this is a late F-14A, no. At that point, most tomcats had them welded shut or removed.
But I am thinking about doing a separate early F-14A, which would have them.
@ReinMcDeer I remember you doing the VF-2 livery for your (now old) F/A-18E/F
just curious, will you be adding the high speed glove vanes on this plane? considering the A model was the only one that had them, in my opinion it would be pretty cool to see.
Oh yes, ferris livery time. Just got the f-14a in War Thunder yesterday as well, what perfect timing.
@Speedhunter Change your name no balls
@Graingy That could work as my nickname
@Speedhunter Addixen.

@Speedhunter More rehab.
You have a Sea Vixen addiction.
@Graingy Eh? I am currently on rehab
@Speedhunter I think you should try rehab
@ReinMcDeer you could also do a VX-9 Livery lol
@TwoTurboMan I'm thinking of doing the VF-2 scheme from the 1980's
@ReinMcdeer what livery will you use for the tomcat?
