Episode 11: Basilisk part 2: Battle of The Sea Monsters

After 2 days of following the Basilisk, the Volgograd and Moscow’s fleet eventually get close to each other and the battle area has been decided for a quick take down. The Basilisk must not be around for too long as that thing is heavily armed. It has a total of 6 railguns, 16 torpedo tubes, 3 missile silos, around 30 aircrafts and of course, a massive ICBM underneath its runway.

*Pacific Ocean, near Russia, 5pm.

Volgograd’s captain: “Alright guys, we’re almost there. Get ready for battle.”

Moscow’s captain: “Copy that, we see your and the Basilisk’s signals on the radar. All hand to station!”

Volgograd’s captain: “Alright, ready the torpedoes!”

Sailor: “Torpedo tubes ready!!”

Volgograd’s captain: “Alright, on my mark, fire 2 torpedoes at it to force it out of the water! 5… 4… 3… 2… 1…-“

*Heavy static.

Volgograd’s captain: “What the… what’s happening? Crew?”

Sailor: “Our instruments are messed up sir! The front camera is also gone.”

Volgograd’s captain: “Shit, they’ve heard us…”

After around 1 minute, the static eventually disappears and the radar and instruments return to normal. But something is definitely not right…

Moscow’s captain: “Hello? Hello? Volgograd, can you hear us?!”

Volgograd’s captain: “Yes we do, we just lost our real-time connection.”

Moscow’s captain: “Attention everyone, we lost the Basilisk’s signal!!”

Volgograd’s captain: “What?! Turn on the front camera!”

After the camera is turned on, only the dark blue ocean is on the screen.

Sailor: “It’s-… it’s gone sir.”

Volgograd’s captain: “Shit…”

Moscow’s captain: “Alright, everyone, switch to plan B!”

Volgograd’s captain: “Plan B?”

Moscow’s captain: “All battleships will send out their helicopters including us. Those helis will carry sonobuoys and drop them to find the submarine, that thing is massive, must be easy to detect. At the same time, the 941-BiS will also send out its fighter squadron to protect the helis. When the area where it is at is detected, we will use MAD to search for it.”

Volgograd’s captain: “Okay, what about us?”

Moscow’s captain: “You guys prepare for battle, as soon as the sea serpent is spotted, engage immediately, got it?”

Volgograd’s captain: “Copy!”

Moscow’s captain: “All helicopters take off!”

After the command is given, all 6 helicopters from the three massive battleships take off, all of them carry sonobuoys pods that carry up to 12 sonobuoys each.

However, things don’t go that easy. As soon as the helicopters took off, two ATD-X squadrons are spotted over the horizon.

Isakov’s captain: “New enemies spotted, 8 planes, 2 squadrons!”

941-BiS’s pilot: “Sea dragon squadron, taking off.”

4 SU-33S (Modified SU-33 for the submarine carrier, its wings can be folded twice to save up space even more and stronger wing structure for the RATO (rocket assisted take off)) can be seen on the 941-BiS’s deck, 2 lines up with the runway and the rockets hanging under their wings are activated, the rockets assist them in taking off due to the submarine carrier doesn’t have any catapult. The rockets can also be used as bombs afterwards. After 30 seconds, all 4 planes have taken off.

It is quite stressful to say the least. However, after a short dogfight, the Russian planes eventually able to lure the enemy planes near the battleships. All of them are shot down and burned by anti-air guns and laser turrets.

All sonobuoys are dropped after just over 5 minutes. Then, the Moscow activates the MAD device, a massive circle shows up on the radar.

Moscow’s captain: “Alright, all ships, stop! Crew, send out a sea drone to the location, watch the radio wave, go to where the wave signal peaks!”

A small sea drone is sent out and it moves to where the MAD circle on the radar is at. At first, nothing happened, but as it moves further into the circle, the waveform on the screen peaks slightly to the right, the controller turn it towards that direction. The waveform then starts getting bigger and bigger, eventually the whole waveform peaks and the submarine’s signal is spotted. However…

*Loud static noises.

Moscow’s captain: *Slams on the panel “Motherfucker!!! Not again!!! Stop hiding!!!”

After another minute of waiting, the Moscow restarts the MAD. However, the circle this time is quite far from the last location, the Basilisk has covered an absurd distance in just one minute. The controller on the Moscow then controls the drone the the circle to search for it one more time.

Moscow’s captain: “Come on… If it disappears one more time, it’s over…”

The waveform on the drones camera peaks slightly again, the controller turns it towards that direction. This time, the waveform suddenly becomes bigger strangely fast.

Drone controller: “The Basilisk’s signal is spotted sir!”

Moscow’s sound analyzer: “Wait… The sound is loud… It must be very close-… Wait… That’s-… that’s way too loud for it to be deep underwater-!!”

*Splash!!!

The Basilisk suddenly comes out of the water, 30 degrees up. One-third of the ship is out of the water, towering over the drone’s view before dropping back onto the water, destroying the drone in the process. It then turns towards the fleet and at the same time, opens all 6 railguns, all missile silos and prepare its aircrafts.

Zhukov’s captain: “God did not create human for them to make this monstrosity.”

2 F-15JX squadrons take off from the enemy carrier. Right after they took off, the Basilisk launches up to 21 missiles at the battleships and fire its railguns at the Moscow. However just like the last time it battled with the Yamato, all railgun shells got ricochet away by the Moscow’s thick armor. Half of the missiles are destroyed by anti-air lasers on the Moscow and the Isakov’s and Zhukov’s anti-air guns. The other half manages to hit the three battleships, however, they did very little damage. All of them then return fire with up to 30 missiles at the Basilisk, the three ships also use their massive tri-cannon turrets to fight it. The Basilisk can’t react in time, all 30 missiles explode all over the ship, the Isakov’s and Zhukov’s cannons cause massive damage to the hull and the Moscow’s rail cannons completely pierce through the entire ship. Fortunately for the Basilisk, the damage it took isn’t critical, but it was crippled by all that damage. All the aircrafts that it launched are also shot down once again by the Sea Dragon squadron, anti-air and helicopters.

Zhukov’s captain: “It dived!!”

Moscow’s captain: “With that much damage, it won’t be able to stay down there for long, it will have to surface again soon.”

Basilisk’s sailor: “Captain, one of the ballast tanks is damaged!! We’re losing balance!!”

Basilisk’s captain: “IS IT SERIOUS??!! IS THE SHIP TRYING TO ROLL UPSIDE DOWN??!!”

Basilisk’s sailor: “N-No sir, but it’s tilting-“

Basilisk’s captain: “IF IT ISN’T IMPORTANT THEN JUST STAY DOWN HERE A BIT MORE!!! WE WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO LAUNCH THIS NUKE AT MOSCOW!!!”

Moscow’s captain: “What the fuck…”

Zhukov’s captain: “Well, let’s continue shooting it shall we? We still have its signal and all our missiles are anti-sub missiles.”

Moscow’s captain: “Yeah. Alright, Volgograd, 941-BiS!”

Volgograd’s and 941-BiS’s captains: “Yes sir?”

Moscow’s captain: “You guys concentrate on launching torpedoes at that thing okay? This is an all out attack!”

Volgograd’s and 941-BiS’s captains: “Copy that!”

Moscow’s captain: “Sea Dragon squadron!”

Lead pilot: “Yes sir?”

Moscow’s captain: “You guys wait for my order, as soon as the Basilisk surfaces, you guys launch all of you air-to-ground missiles and drop your RATOs at it okay?!”

Lead pilot: “Copy that sir!”

Moscow’s captain: “After attacking, return to your ship immediately, got it?!”

Lead pilot: “Yes sir!”

All three battleships then launches another 30 missiles up in the air. All of them then turns back towards the water. When they’re close enough, the rocket tails of the missiles detach, the missiles’ parachutes then open to slow them down before entering the water.

Basilisk’s sailor: “Sir! Torpedoes incoming, 30-… wait no! 40!!”

Basilisk’s captain: “Are there any obstacles nearby??!!”

Basilisk’s sailor: “No sir!!”

Basilisk’s captain: “Shit!! Release counter measures, emergency blow!!!”

The Basilisk releases its counter measures and surfaces at 30 degree angle. Half of the torpedoes are distracted by the counter measures, half of them manage to hit the Basilisk after it surfaces.

Isakov’s captain: “The Basilisk is surfacing!”

Moscow’s captain: “Sea Dragons, now!!”

The SU-33S squadron launches 8 3M-54 AG missiles at the Basilisk and drop their RATO on it, causing heavy damage to the runway.

Basilisk’s sailor: “Catapults and runway are destroyed sir!!”

Moscow’s captain: “I feel like something is not right.”
…
Basilisk’s captain: “We surrender.”

All Russian ships: *?!

Basilisk’s captain: “We surrender!!! Stop shooting!!!”

Moscow’s captain: “Everyone, cease fire!!!”

Zhukov’s captain: “What’s going on?”
…
Moscow’s captain: “This is captain of the Russian Federation Navy’s battleship Moscow. I need you and your crew to leave you ship by lifeboats to prove that you surrender!”

Basilisk’s captain: “Alright.”

After a while, the crew can be seen on the deck. They start dropping lifeboats on the water and climb down onto them. There’s about 300 people in the ship and 30 lifeboats are needed for everyone to evacuate. After everyone left their ship, they sail towards the battleships. When they’re near the Russian fleet, they signal the Russian ships to bring them up. Suddenly…

Isakov’s captain: “Seems like that’s an empty ship now, you guys see the captain?”

Moscow’s captain: “Uhm… spotter? Can you search for the captain please?”

Spotter: “Yes sir.”

Zhukov’s captain: “Seems like everyone is out of the Basilisk.”

Spotter: “No sir, I don’t see him.”

Moscow’s captain: “He’s not present in there?”

*BOOM.

Zhukov’s captain: “Well, everyone but the captain!”

A massive explosion occurs on the Basilisk’s deck, send the runway flying into the air before falling back into the ocean. Slowly, a shadow of something can be rising up in the smoke.

Isakov’s captain: “I see something in that smoke… what is that?… Oh… oh no…”

Eventually it rises higher than the smoke and reveals itself, it’s the Doomsday ICBM. It eventually stops at a straight vertical position. Everyone can only look at it in shock. Then a bright light suddenly glows up in the smoke and even more smoke appears, it’s lifting off the Basilisk. The anti-air guns and laser turrets of the battleships try to shoot it down, but it’s no use.

Basilisk’s captain: *Evil laugh “YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO SAVE YOU LAND NOW!!! AFTER THIS IS FINISHED, GENSOKYO IS NEXT!!! THAT LITTLE PATHETIC COUNTRY DOES NOT DESERVE TO LIVE!!! IT HAS TOO MANY GOOD THING!!! IT STILL HAS CREATURES THAT ARE STRAIGHT OUT FROM FAIRY TALES PROTECTING THEM!!! EVEN SO THEY BETRAYED US AND DID NOT OFFER US ANY HELP WHEN WE NEEDED!!! THEY EVEN USED THEIR MILITARY TO KICK US OFF TOO!!! SO WE WILL TAKE OUT ITS SUPPORTS FIRST THEN THE COUNTRY ITSELF!!!”

Moscow’s captain: “You crazy son of a bitch…”

Radio: “Hello? Hello??? Anyone there??”

Moscow’s captain: “ Yes, this is Moscow’s captain!”

Victor: Hey, it’s me, Victor, Shtorm’s captain! You guys see any missile in the sky?”

Moscow’s captain: “I only see the ICBM that the monster just launched!”

Victor: “N-No! Not that one! The one that is sent to destroy it!”

Moscow’s captain: “What?!”

The Moscow’s captain looks up into the sky from the control room. At that exact moment, a missile can be seen passing by at an extremely high speed.

Moscow’s captain: “Oh, yeah, I just saw a missile passed by! It’s so fast!”

Victor: “That’s it! That’s the Zircon 3 I just launched from Gensokyo. It has a special warhead that can 100% destroy that thing! Now, don’t worry about it anymore! Concentrate fire on the Basilisk! SEND THAT THING TO WHERE IT BELONGS!!!”

Moscow’s captain: “ALL SHIPS!!! DESTROY THE BASILISK!!!”

Everyone: “Roger!!!”

All battleships then continuously launch their missiles at the sea serpent, explosion occurs everywhere on the ship, the cannons from the battleships rip it apart.

Basilisk’s captain: (That’s it, starts raging for the destruction of your capital, you won’t be able to save it!!! Release all that rage on me!!!)

*Massive explosion.

A massive nuclear explosion occurs in the sky, blowing the clouds within its range away. The Zircon 3 has successfully destroyed the Doomsday ICBM.

Basilisk’s captain: “NOOO!!!”

Moscow’s captain: “YES!!! THAT’S WHAT YOU GET FOR COMMITTING WAR CRIME!!!”

Basilisk’s captain: “YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ESCAPE THE EMPEROR’S WRATH!!! YOU WILL GET TO TASTE IT SOON ENOUGH!!!”

Typhoon’s captain: “Guys! Out of the way!!”

All battleships’ captains look back and see an RSM-56 already in the air. The Isakov and 941-BiS steer to the left and the Moscow and Zhukov steer to the right to get away. The RSM-56 detaches its first stage, the second stage engages. Then the nose separates off, revealing the MIRV warhead inside. Then the rocket disengage and separates off, releasing all 19 nuclear warheads in the process. All 19 warheads hit the Basilisk, causing a massive explosion and completely destroy the Basilisk to pieces. The battle is a victory.

Fortunately, all the sailors that evacuated from the Basilisk has hidden behind the battleships and are completely not affected by the nuclear explosion. They’re then brought up to the battleships by the cranes.

Moscow’s captain: “I feel like something big will happen again soon… I don’t feel like going back home is a good idea.”

Isakov’s captain: “Yeah… me either.”

Moscow’s captain: “I think we should go to Gensokyo… hold on.”

The Moscow’s captain takes out his phone and calls someone.

Moscow’s captain: “Hello, admiral?… Yeah it’s me, Ivan. I need to go to Gensokyo, this battleship fleet won’t return to Russia… Well, we just finished fighting the Basilisk, the enemy captain told us that we will soon taste the Emperor’s wrath, I’m not sure what he was talking about but it was definitely not good… Okay, thank you sir.”

After calling the admiral for permission to go to Gensokyo, Ivan goes to the heli pad to greet the sailors that they brought up.

Ivan: “Greeting everyone, my name is Ivan, I’m the captain of the Russian Federation Navy’s battleship Moscow. Make yourself at home, this ship is very comfortable.”

Random sailor: “Wait, what’s you name again?”

Ivan: “My name is Ivan.”

Random sailor: “Ivan… Alexander Ivanov right?”

Ivan: “Wait, how do you know my full-…” (His eyes widen in shock) “S-Sakura…?”

A beautiful Japanese woman with short hair and blunt bangs stands in front of Ivan, face to face with him.

Sakura: “Yes, it’s me, darling…”

Ivan: “Y-You were on that monster?”

Sakura: “More than that darling, I was the one that activated it. But, it was on command by the chief commander back in Japan.”

Ivan looks at her with a confused face.

Sakura: “Ah! Please don’t misunderstand me-!”

Ivan: “N-No I’m not. You once told me that you work like a manager in there, so I’m wondering what were you doing on the Basilisk.”

Sakura: *deep breath “When I activated the Basilisk, I felt like it was wrong doing that so I decided to board it myself. No matter if it goes to Gensokyo or Russia, I would still escape from the ship myself, I wanted to get out of this war, I’m tired of it, 23 years already, and I want to see you again. When they decide to go to Russia, I already had my hopes up. When the captain fake surrendered, I already recognized your voice through the speaker. Back when you were the captain of the Kiev, I always prayed for you to be alive during that battle. That grand battle at Gensokyo was the last time I heard from you. When we were told to evacuate, I’ve never felt so alive, I was the first one that came out and dropped the first lifeboat on the ocean… After all that years, I’ve finally found you again.”

Ivan: “Oh, Sakura… My little cherry blossom...”

Sakura walks towards Ivan and hugs him.

Sakura: “I will fight alongside you from now on, no one will have to fear for the other anymore.”
…
Sakura: “And by the way, since I worked inside their system, I know a lot of their top secret informations, they’re quite disturbing to say the least. Can you do me a favor please, Ivan?”

Ivan: “Anything for you Sakura.”

Sakura: “The Japanese president was kidnapped a long time ago and is still being locked somewhere at the snowy North of Russia currently.”

Ivan: “Wha-… really?”

Sakura: *Nods “Can you tell the Russian military about this? This will certainly help finishing this war a lot.”

Ivan: “Alright, I’ll do it. Now…” (looks up) “Everyone, come inside! You will catch a cold if you keep staying out here like this!”

Everyone on the battleships then goes inside the ship they’re on and the whole fleet continues their way to Gensokyo.

*Somewhere in Japan.

“We lost the Basilisk sir.”

“Fuck…”

“And apparently Sakura in currently missing.”

“She must’ve escaped on the Basilisk. That bitch…”

“What do we do now sir?”

“No more time to play around anymore, we have to destroy them asap.”
