Just wanted to post some strings that I use to help make an aircraft fly more "realistically".
The first one works for all control surfaces and small rotators in game. It is useful to help simulate flight control surfaces feeling "stiffer" at higher speeds as to not put excess G's on the airframe. This is achieved by limiting max deflection of one or multiple control surface as speed increases up to a preferred max TAS (True Airspeed).
in the "input" (desired flight control)*clamp(inverselerp(x,y,TAS),0.1,1)
x=Desired max airspeed (m/s) you would like 1/10th deflection
y=Desired minimum airspeed you would like max deflection
This works for Pitch, Roll, Yaw and even Trim. I think it is better than trying to use xml to limit G's strictly by control surfaces which seems to introduce oscillations whenever I've tried it.
Also, for hinged rotators or VTOL control surfaces such as flaps
inverselerp(x,y,TAS)
x and y are the same as before. This is a great trick to use with hinged rotators for automatic swing wings like on the Tomcat. Also useful for automatic flaps. Just make sure your rotator speed and range are set correctly along with correct direction of motion. The "invert" feature is useful if you're only using one input function otherwise you need to learn the difference between Roll and -Roll for example.
I would like opinions or input on jet engine performance as I'm sure some have better solutions, but for now I use "throttleResponse" anywhere from 0.04-0.06 for more realistic acceleration (estimated accuracy of weight, drag and lift accounted for) along with airbrakes that will activate at certain throttle positions for deceleration as slower spool down times are a problem with this method.
Also, airbrakes can be used to simulate deceleration with AoA by either setting the input as -Pitch or AngleOfAttack/x with x being the desired AoA the airbrake will open at. -Pitch input is more akin to real flight characteristics imo.
