This is a collection of the things I've spotted in the SP2 trailer. This excludes stuff like the new parts and maps, those are exciting but are kind of a given. I'm focusing more on the stuff that is a major change or addition to the game, or the stuff you may not have noticed when watching the trailer.
- Textures of some sort. Hopefully this means you'll be able to paint stuff on your planes, but honestly even if the textures available on fuselage are just presets that still adds tons of possibilities to the decoration game. Edit: from looking at the store page, it appears that these patterns are just presets, but they do seem to have a pretty wide range of choices that make fuselage patterns very versatile.
- Dynamic water and underwater camera. Pretty self explanatory and obvious, water will no longer be a flat liquid in which you will constantly be sinking.
- Seamless backwards compatibility. All your SP1 planes will work in SP2 confirmed on Steam Page
- Clouds. You can now fly above the clouds. Right now they're a janky looking grid, hopefully they'll fix that. Edit: Aviator01 pointed out that the Steam page says they are volumetric, this means that you'll be able to fly through them and stuff.
- People. Your planes now have pilots. They can emote, so I'll assume they can walk around, maybe in first person like in Brick Rigs.
- Multiplayer. You probably saw that in the trailer, I'm not gonna elaborate.
Screens. You'll be able to add targeting cameras and stuff. You can imagine the implications for VR, if it releases on VR at all.
New UI. The redesign is minor, but honestly it looks pretty good and i think the game needed it.
- Afterburners. Just look at this picture, this looks amazing.
- New wings and fuselage tools. Just look at the pictures of planes and ask if you could make that in SP1. The answer is no. Thank you WNP78 for reminding me about that. Wings also seem to have more realistic control surfaces.
Long story short, this game is gonna be amazing. I'm excited to see what the finished product will look like. Hopefully it will also release for VR and Mobile, but even if it doesn't, it's still gonna be a banger game that I will definitely buy. I did that video review thing of Flyout when it came out, expect something similar for SP2. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to leverage some early access if I can create video content promoting and exploring the game? Idk just throwing ideas out there. This is gonna be sick. I can't wait.
About SP2 on Mobile:
The Steam page lists some minimum specs, these are very low.
Windows Minimum:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 10
Processor: 3.2 GHz Dual Core Processor
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: SM4, 512MB VRAM
Storage: 2 GB available space
Mac Minimum:
OS: macOS 10.14
Processor: Intel
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: Metal, 512MB VRAM
The low system specs plus the fact that there is a build using the Metal render pipeline suggest that a mobile port is very much possible. Graphically, it looks pretty similar to J:NO, which is surprisingly well optimized on mobile. SP2 could very well be on mobile. VR hardware may be a little too low-end for SP2VR though. Maybe an update that adds support for SP2 creations is more feasible.
Edit: So i looked at the FAQ they posted in their Steam Community, it seems that a PC version is in development, then a mobile port will be in the works. They also mentioned that a console version is a possibility as well. They also said VR is something that they will work on, but it won't be in the initial release.
Mobile is planned.
Not gonna mention those wings?
@BeastHunter let’s GOODYWBAGVGDYVEBYUVEGVXGUV
So the wings are now going to be realistic instead of rly thick wing shaped panels eh
Also by the looks of things we now have GBU12
@BeastHunter
Thanks! YAY!
This is just what we needed, DCS but it's not.
@TheMouse I see!
@Graingy
The first one. Look in the description of the video.
@TheMouse For timestamps add &t=XmXs (X= number, minutes not included for under 1 minute)
What plane?
"All your SP1 planes will work in SP2 confirmed on Steam Page"
I think it'd be more accurate to say the files are compatible. Physics changes could get in the way, since it'd honestly be a shame if they kept the old physics.
Maybe have it as a quality setting? Old vs. New physics?
@WNP78 Would physics changes be an issue?
@WNP78
Any word on if SP2 as versions of the Overload and Fine Tuner in-game mods?
@theaviator77
Did you notice? They used YOUR PLANE in the trailer! Look here!
@WNP78
Will you be adding actual radar?
Like, actual radar physics. I don't know how else to put it, but are we gonna get actual functioning radars? That way air to air combat isn't just "Warning" to "Locked" and then spamming countermeasures. Perhaps radar warning receivers that actually function? It would be a bit complicated but I'm pretty sure you could simplify it. Stealth????? Probably too complicated, I don't know...
@Graingy
Read the last part, it may answer your questions about a computer.
@WNP78 are we gonna get more of heliparts ? plus i hope for a better new sound for them
@WNP78 come to think of it that entire plane would be near impossible in SP1…
Sounds like you guys really put a lot of work into this. Thanks, and good luck getting it ready to ship!
@32 even if it is preloaded, someone will come out with a mod... then in 7 years they will implement it into SP3.
@Speedhunter no
Belgium would be angry
@Kerbango In the trailer, general Chad is wearing a green jumpsuit, but in another place he's wearing sunglasses and some sort of flight outfit. I think probably preloaded pilots is the direction this is going, but it might be more like TF2 where you can do some light customization on otherwise premade characters.
what do you think? Character creator or preloaded pilots?
...And, Finally, they get the % on trim, instead of 1/4 marks.
I like the circular UI.
This is great. Thanks for making it.
The steam store page has confirmed that clouds will be volumetric.
What if it has lootboxes?
