Reading, hold your horses.
Edit:
Off a first glance, I have a bad feeling.
Assuming it has a site, that'd be a total reset. Years of progress climbing ranks only to be completely wiped away.
Secondly, that does not look performance friendly. Assuming it's available on Mac, which is a big IF nowadays, that does not look like something mine could handle. This is scary, because I could end up being left behind in a dying game as everyone else moves on. More important than having internet points is having a reputation, something I'd completely lose if there was a new game and I couldn't be there.
Those pilots are ugly as sin, I REALLY hope there's a way to turn them off. I genuinely prefer how SP's world is empty by default. Just you and your plane, no hideous cartoon-looking mfs with missileable faces.
While I should be happy, all this really does is fill me with dread.
Doesn't help that I'm also not feeling well physically at the moment, but I digress.
I will have to look for more information elsewhere.
@HuskyDynamics01 Perhaps somewhat like how VR is distinct?
But at the same time I believe VR users can still play the same stuff (except for performance-related issues), so not really.
@Graingy
Good point.
@TheMouse I'm sure they're already flooded anyways.
And I mean, this is my alt email.
If planes from SP1 are as compatible with SP2 as the Steam page implies, then I don't see why they can't just keep using this site but add either a new tab for SP2 builds or (maybe more likely) move the SP1 builds to a "Legacy" section. As far as I can tell there's literally no reason why they would shut down this site even if they do make a new one for SP2, but I don't see why they would need to do that either. There would definitely be some need to sort them so people who don't have SP2 don't get confused with a bunch of stuff they can't download, but an entirely new site would just be unnecessary in so many ways.
As for performance, the Steam page lists both the minimum and recommended specs, which if you can run Juno and/or larger (1000-1500 parts) SP builds, should be fine.
I do agree with you on the pilots though.
@Graingy
I see what you mean. However, I doubt you could get in trouble for that. Especially if you used an alt email.
@TheMouse It's like how you tread lightly around Mods. Don't wanna cause trouble.
@Graingy
Wdym “sacred”. The only thing sacred is andrew. Everything else is dumb.
@TheMouse Haha
No.
I'm not trespassing on sacred ground.
@Graingy
Idk. Maybe email jundroo. They are probably swamped in tags right now.
@TheMouse Ish.
Granted, you could make a distinction between things made in SP and SP2.
20k points in SP1 doesn't necessarily mean that you would earn the same number in SP2. Brackets are too large... Maybe separate scores per game with the total sum displayed in comments beside usernames?
@Graingy
But this is all sp. I would certainly hope they have same points and stuff. A different tab would be exactly what i was thinking of.
@Majakalona Yeah, I don't like them. Customizable appearances would be in order I think.
I think it remains to be seen whether they're optional and if you could have planes like in the first game: Cockpit block only.
@32 It would be deeply saddening to see this site die, but I can't see Jundroo bothering to incorporate both games on the same site.
... I mean, maybe under different tabs? But would they do that?
@TheMouse Juno uses the same profiles, but apart from shared emails and mutual bans they are quite separate.
the pilots aren't even wearing proper gear
they seem like they would fit more into general aircraft.
Don't know what's worse, Johnny bravo but slightly more realistic, or the overly realistic drood faces that give you contracts in juno
It will work on Mac (with fairly low specs as well, if your current computer runs SP at a playable fps you should be fine). Also, it has backwards compatibility! So it’s not going to be a complete reset for all those years. I personally don’t know whether they should keep the site and add SP2 planes to it (seems a bit confusing) or make a second website where they need to grow a community from the ground up (and this community will slowly fade away)
What I really hope, is that it is available for mobile, and if it is not, I will be very very sad.
And I certainly hope that they use the same profiles, but we will have to ask andrew.
First of all, I went onto steam, and it said that it is ok for mac, so that is good.
@IntoTheDesignatedGridZone
But we know it will happen now. I can wait for a year. Heck, if I had to, I would wait 10 years, now that I know it is happening.
@TheMouse Read the post.
@Graingy
Why?!?!
@IntoTheDesignatedGridZone And I move at a glacial pace.
Buying a new computer is hardly something I can just "do" within a year.
@TheMouse I am full of dread.
hold your horses, we have a year left
