Dear SimplePlanes Players,
The response to the SP2 announcement has been incredible. The flood of suggestions is a testament to how passionate you all are! There are far too many to incorporate but your feedback has always influenced our own internal roadmap. Multiplayer was a top community request that's now a huge part of SP2.
Our goal is to make this game unreasonably fun and multiplayer has been a huge step forward on that front. We often end our weekly team meetings with a multiplayer session and it is such a blast. Sometimes, these playthroughs turn into working sessions, like when Pedro led us on a tour of his latest terrain enhancements, and we followed along in a convoy of Little Buggers. It was awesome.
We'll be quiet with our heads down as we focus on our core plan, but as we get closer to release, we'll be sharing more progress updates and at that time we will be more actively looking for ways to weave in community suggestions.
We cannot overstate how much we appreciate your support. It’s a privilege to have such a passionate community excited about a game we love creating. Having the best job in the world isn't something we take for granted.
Thanks for playing!
-Andrew
PS - If you haven't already, don't forget to add SP2 to your wishlist on Steam! It's one of those positive energy things that fuels the Jundroo Machine.
will there be stealth or some sort of radar cross section in the game? or some sort of stealth that reduces the ability to lock on to targets?
Hey, I’m just wondering if you were planning on implementing cockpit sharing? It’d be awesome to have someone being a designated gunner and not just an overworked pilot. I’m not sure how all the mechanics would really work but I’m really hoping to do some stuff with my friends that would be great with that.
@Majakalona that would be very cursed
I can’t wait! Keep up the good work
Laser guided, fox 2 (ir guided), actual radar, fully functioning fox-3 (active radar guided) missiles (the bit about fox 3 missiles is because irl you need to hold lock for a little before you can pull away and they can sometimes even turn to where it thinks the plane it was tracking might be if it losses lock)
Suggestions:
1. Since you can make anything in this game, add space for people who like rockets, but make it have extremely basic orbital mechanics and no escaping the sphere of influence (SOI). If you do escape the SOI, then restart the game to the launch location.
2. Like Juno: New Origins: there should be a feature where you can save multiple crafts in one sandbox.
3. There should also be a feature where you can create many sandboxes, just like in JNO.
4. Port Map View and the navball on Juno: New Origins over to SP2 so you can know where you are going on a map.
@AndrewGarrison Lua?
holy moly someone could put Simpleplanes 2 in Roblox!!!
@AndrewGarrison sorry to ask, but will sp2 have less content on mobile then steam release? Sp1 did not have Myanmar and the kraken on mobile release.
@AndrewGarrison horayy
@AndrewGarrison
Thanks for the clarification, I look forward to new features
@SBACERT Mod support for Android and iOS is something we want to take a closer look at next year when we're porting SP2 to mobile. I think we can do it but it will require using Lua for scripting instead of C#.
@DogedogebreadWithAnAK47 Yes, we will release it on mobile after the Steam release. It may be as late as 2026 for the mobile version. Your accounts and points will remain the same. This website will host content for both SP1 and SP2 content.
@windshifter1 good feedback, thanks! I agree and we are really doing our best to maintain the atmosphere and vibe of SimplePlanes with the sequel.
@Aviator01 Ah that makes sense... still didn't look so nice though.
@AndrewGarrison does android download section in the sp web is back on sp2? I mean there's so many good mod but only few that support android
@windshifter1 The blue filter is because is because Juno has a blue star. This is extremely unlikely to be in SimplePlanes 2.
I am just wondering if you will release it on Mobile (ipad, samsung, etc) or on devices that don't have steam? And what will happen to our accounts/points if we switch to SP2?
@AndrewGarrison
Multiple things.
Keep stuff for updates. There are tonnes of awesome ideas, and if you let me I could rattle on and on, giving you an endless list of my and the rest of the communities' ideas. Just take note and plan it for the future; dont overload and release one big massive game. Maybe even paid DLCs for big updates. I'd like for you not to, but in the end you need to make money to keep going. As you said a while ago, "We do care about your feedback, but we also care about your money. Mostly the money.". By the way, that was a really funny conversation on that post!
Just my personal opinion, I would prefer you didn't have block coding like from Juno. Its great and all, but it just didn't feel very SimplePlanes-like. Strangely, it ruined the simple feeling. If people really want it or you have already started work on it, maybe add a settings option from classic/block code. I kinda liked the workarounds people snuck in with coding, doing all that extra stuff thats not possible without.
Another comment from Juno. That game felt too..... blue. It felt like the entire world had a blue filter over it. The game world was dark, blue, and foggy. Thats the main reason I reverted back to SP and left Juno. Please keep the world bright, colourful, and inviting like in SP 1.
An idea for an update, add customisable sounds. The ability to change engine sounds, upload new sounds, and specifically a new 'sound block'. A part where you can add to your build and upload a sound file. This would dramatically change things. You could have simulated warnings when certain conditions are met, dedicated people may even be able to implement simplistic air traffic control conversations.
Great job developing such creative, inspiring and masterful games! Keep it up!
P.S. I nearly fell of my chair when I saw SP, although my first reaction was to check the date that it was not April 1st. You have quite the reputation for April fools jokes! But really, great job!
@AndrewGarrison That's wonderful, and thank you for your hard work on the game 👏👍
Heck yeah! Thanks for responding
@SimpleStudent I agree. I've actually started working on that before but had to switch gears to something else. Maybe some day I'll find time to finally implement it!
@DatFiat126Guy19 We do plan to add other characters to the game. We have so many ideas, our only limit is just time and energy.
@Bryan5 It's a highly requested features so of course it is something that we are considering, but ultimately that will come down to if we have enough time before release. If not before the initial release then I suspect that we will tackle it in a future, tank themed update.
@HuskyDynamics01 and positive energy?
@AndrewGarrison I guess I’ll have to take matters into my own hands then…
