Episode 14: President Yamamoto

Arctic sea, near Russia.

Samara’s captain: “Alright everyone, we’re nearly there, get ready.”

Masayoshi: “We’re coming to save you, old friend.”

Eiko: “God, it’s cold here.”

Eiko looks at Masayoshi.

Eiko: “By the way, president Masayoshi, what was the relationship between you and president Yamamoto back then?”

Masayoshi: “We were like brothers back then, we worked in the Japanese government back in the days. When Yamamoto became the president, together, we found Gensokyo, a place filled with magical beings and gods. Yamamoto trusted me to take care of Gensokyo and I became its president ever since. We also brought outside world’s stuffs to Gensokyo. Sometimes later, Russia interested in my land and their people started to migrate. The Russian president, Putin himself also visited Gensokyo at one point. We made a small deal with Russia, we gave them the foods and goods that they couldn’t make and in return, they gave us their technologies and military vehicles. But… one day, Japan suddenly attacked us, we tried to defend. We didn’t cut our supplies to Japan, it caused us a lot of confusion because we didn’t know why Japan attacked us. I also messaged Yamamoto for reasons, he only said that it was not his doing, he didn’t started that war 23 years ago. With the technologies that Russia gave us, the engineer youkais here known as kappas, built a machine that created the dorm, it acts as a shield and also made Gensokyo disappear, essentially making Gensokyo a nonexistent country. After that, Yamamoto appeared on television and asked the military to stop the war. That was the last time I saw and heard of him.”

Eiko: “Well, after that war, president Yamamoto suddenly retired and his wife has become the prime minister of Japan till now.”

Masayoshi: “His wife… Valkyrie? She’s not even Japanese.”

Eiko: “Oh, I keep forgetting her name because she’s not an important person to me.”

Masayoshi: “What has she done over the years?”

Eiko: “Well, she increased taxes and nearly crashed the economy, I had to join the navy to have money for my family. All that taxes goes into military vehicles like aircraft carriers and fighter jets and the research of the energy gun that could destroy your country’s dorm. The energy gun’s research and and military vehicles making were massively increased 3 years after the war. Then everything kept going for 20 years. After everything was finished, Japan declared war on Gensokyo again and… here we are.”

Masayoshi: sigh “Such greediness.”

Eiko: “What’s worse is no one know what she’s up to, like, she wants Gensokyo, she just wants it.”

Masayoshi: “She might want to take over the world.”

Eiko: “W-What?”

Masayoshi: “The Russian somehow managed to steal a secret folder from the Japanese ships and found a lot of super weapons including… what was it… oh right, the Basilisk, another ship is named after a mythology, the Orochi, a half carrier, half battleship with a length of 800 meters.”

Eiko: “Oh God… we need to be quick.”

Samara’s captain: “Attention, we’re near the location! All attack helicopters, takeoff and scout for the exact coordinates of the prison!”

After 5 minutes, all 3 KA-52s helicopters takeoff and fly to land to search for the missing president.

15 minutes later.

Vortex squadron: “This is Vortex 1, we found the prison! It is a-… Guys! We need some help, there are Russia aircrafts taking off from there and are flying to us, it’s a whole goddamn military base!!!”

Samara’s captain: “Give me the coordinates and get out of there immediately!!!”

Vortex squadron: “Roger!”
…
Ting.

Samara’s captain: “Alright!”

The Samara’s captain send the coordinates back to the RSNF.

Samara’s captain: “Eiko, president Masayoshi, you two get on the Mi-26.”

As Eiko is about to get on the helicopter, he stops and thinks about something, then he suddenly runs into the ship’s radar room.

Eiko: “Excuse me, does this ship have any gun for sailors?”

Sailor: “Yes we do, you need one?”

Eiko: “Yeah, I need a gun, if it’s a military base then it won’t just simply come in and bring Yamamoto out.”

Sailor: “Alright, follow me.”

The sailor takes Eiko to the weaponry room and let Eiko chooses a gun he wants. Eiko chooses a Saiga 12 with a 20 rounds drum magazine.

Sailor: “If you’re thinking about charging in and save the president yourself, excellent choice captain. You need spare ammo?”

Eiko: “Yeah, maybe 3 spare mags.”

The sailor opens the ammunition cabinet and takes 3 10 rounds Saiga 12 magazines and gives them to Eiko. With the shotgun, Eiko rushes back to the heli deck and gets on the Mi-26 with Masayoshi and some other armed sailors. The Mi-26 takes off and flies to the prison. On the helicopter:

Sailor: “Here.”

One of the sailors gives Eiko a level 4 vest and a Spetsnaz helmet.

Sailor: “Safety first captain.”

Eiko: “Thank you.”

Eiko puts on the vest and the helmet.

Masayoshi: “You are going to raid the place too?”

Eiko: “I’ve done a lot of wrong things in the past and at the beginning of this war, so, I want to at least do right things for once.”

Masayoshi: “I see, wish you luck.”

Eiko: “Thank you.”

SAAC airport, Gensokyo.

Radarman: “Guys, we have coordinates from North Russia.”

Victor: “Alright, let me call them.”
…
Sokolóv: “Yes Victor?”

Victor: “They’ve got the coordinates, it’s a military base and their helicopters are being attacked, hurry!”

Not even 5 minutes later, Squadron X along with Sanae takeoff. After they’re airborne, Sanae fires a magic projectile, after a short while, it stops and opens a wrap portal, leading straight to North Russia, where the president is locked. Volkóv also has a Trinity under his plane’s belly. Squadron X and Sanae fly into the portal. After they’ve passed through, it closes and everyone is gone.

Back to North Russia.

Vortex squadron: “God! How many enemies are there?!”

Samara’s captain: “There’re 20 currently chasing you, more are still taking off! Try to evade, shoot them down if you need to!”

While this is all happening outside, inside one of the rooms in the base, president Yamamoto is locked there.

Yamamoto: (Aircrafts are continuously taking off, is something happening outside? It’s been a very long time since I last heard loud noises.)
…
Russian enemy: “They’re probably trying to take Yamamoto.”

Russian enemy: “With 3 helicopters and a frigate? Are they serious?”

Russian enemy: “Well, let’s just kill all of them, first off for entering restricted territory.”

Russian enemy: “Guys, I suddenly feel uneasy.”

Russian enemy: “Why?”

Russian enemy: “I don’t know, I just feel uneasy, like, something is coming for us.”

Russian enemy: “What? Our number is more than 20 planes, what are you scared about?”

Russian base: “Attention! 5 new enemies on the radar! They’re-… oh no…”

Russian enemy: “What?! What are they?!”

Russian base: “It-…It’s Squadron X…”

Russian enemy: “Told you, now we’re gonna die.”

Russian enemy: “Fuck...”

When Squadron X reaches the enemy base, the Mi-26 also arrives.

Mi-26’s pilot: “All attack helicopters, that base has anti-airs, can you guys take care of those please?”

Vortex squadron: “Copy that!”

One by one, the anti-air turrets are shot down by air to ground missiles from the KA-52s, leaving the base completely defenseless for the Mi-26 to approach. Right after it landed, Eiko slides the door open, jumps out from the helicopter and charges at the front doors of the base, Eiko leads and the other 2 sailors back up his rear. As soon as he steps in, he’s greeted by a group of soldiers armed with AK-103, but before they can open fire, Eiko shoots all of them down and even send some near him flying with the Saiga, in close quarters, nothing stands a chance against a shotgun, especially a semi-auto one. He continues to make his way through the entire place and constantly checking for the room president Yamamoto is locked in. At the same time, Squadron X and Sanae engages in an air battle with 23 enemy Russian planes. All of them are shot down like ducks, no one can even get near them. After a bit of searching, Eiko eventually finds the room, he turns the Saiga upside down and shoot the metal door’s handle, it needs up to 3 shots to break the door open.

Eiko: “President!!!”

Yamamoto is surprised and seems confused.

Eiko: “We’re here to save you!!! Come on, let’s go, we don’t have much time!!!”

Yamamoto understands, stands up from his seat and runs towards Eiko, then the group escorts him out of the place. While coming out, a few more soldiers from the outside rush in as a last attempt to stop them, but, no chance, Eiko easily clears the path and all of them gets out of the military base. Then they get on the Mi-26 with president Yamamoto, Eiko closes the door and the helicopter takes off. Some enemy soldiers try to shoot the helicopter but it’s completely bulletproof.

Roza: “The Mi-26 is taking off!”

Sokolóv: “Seems like they’ve done. Alright Volkóv, you know what to do!”

Volkóv flies far away from the base, then he does a backflip and rolls, changing his plane’s direction while still flying in a straight line. He carefully aims with his sight and presses the trigger. The Trinity on his plane’s belly is dropped, it opens its wings, ignites its engine and flies at the enemy base.

BOOM!!!

A massive explosion occurs, sending snow, dirt and concrete flying into the air, the entire base is destroyed to dust, nothing remains. The shockwave also shakes the Mi-26 a bit causing everyone to slightly panic. Sanae and Squadron X then fly in formation again, Sanae fires a projectile to open a portal and they return to Gensokyo. The Mi-26 and KA-52s fly back to the Samara and the ship makes its way back to Gensokyo again. On the ship, Yamamoto explains everything to Masayoshi, Eiko, the entire Samara’s crew and the RSNF through the radio. Knowing the horrifying truth behind the war, everyone is determined to stop this war as soon as possible.

3 days later, Japan, 10pm.

Ting

Akio: “Hmm? Oh, a message from Eiko?”

Message:
Eiko: We’re coming home buddy! Go on a patrol mission tomorrow for a surprise!

Akio’s face is delighted, never in his life he feels so excited for a patrol mission, he invites the HTFS with him. But, little does he know, there will also be a special guest coming with him tomorrow too.

Next morning.

Akio: “Okay, let’s see… the patrol mission today is with… M-Musashi?!”

That’s right, a massive battleship is coming with Kaga today, the admiral was suspicious about why Akio goes so far just for a patrol mission so they sent Musashi to go with him.

Musashi’s captain: “Hello Kaga, my name is Ryosuke, Musashi’s captain, I’m with you on today’s patrol mission.”

Akio: “My name is Akio, Kaga’s captain, good to have you. Alright, everyone, set sail.”

Ryosuke: “I’ve heard that you are up to something out there on the ocean, so I was sent to see what you are doing.”

Akio: (Dammit, Eiko is coming back today… or should I let him know…? Ryosuke is a veteran after all and he fought back when Yamamoto was still the president… I heard that he’s very loyal to him too…)
“Ryosuke, I know you are older than me but… trust me, you will learn a lot of things from today’s mission.”

Ryosuke: “Learn what?”

Akio: “Just wait and you will see.”

RF Samara.

Yamamoto: “What’s your name?”

Eiko: “Eiko, sir, Shokaku’s captain.”

Yamamoto puts his hand on Eiko’s shoulder.

Yamamoto: “Thank you, thank you a lot.”

Eiko: “It’s okay president, it’s my job as a soldier.”

Yamamoto: “And yet you are the only Japanese soldier that comes to save me.”

Eiko: “Well, technically. There’re actually some more people looking for you, without their help, I wouldn’t be here.”

Yamamoto: “I see, good thing I’m not forgotten.”

Eiko sees the captain in the same place with him.

Eiko: “Uhm… captain, here, I return you this gun.”

The captain pushes the gun back at Eiko.

Samara’s captain: “You did a very great thing for us… keep it, as a gift for you.”

Eiko looks down at the Saiga 12, inspects it a bit and looks back up with a smile.

Eiko: “Thank you.”

5 hours later.

Akio: “Okay, we’re here, the usual location that I go to.”

Ryosuke: “I can see Gensokyo from here.”

A beeping noise suddenly comes from the instrument panel of both ship, indicating a radio connection request. Both captains accept the request and listen.

Samara’s captain: “Hello Kaga, who’s you friend today?”

Ryosuke: “This is battleship Musashi, why you connect radio with Kaga and me?”

Samara’s captain: “Relax man, war is already stressful enough, no need to be so serious.”

Akio: “Hehe, okay, I’m expecting some good news from you.”

Samara’s captain: “Sure do buddy, use your binoculars, can you see a ship moving in front of Gensokyo?”

Akio and Ryosuke use their binoculars to look for the ship.

Akio: “Yes, I see.”

Samara’s captain: “That’s me, can your binoculars zoom in even more?”

Akio: “Yes, it can.”

Samara’s captain: “Alright, looks on my ship’s heli deck, what you see is what you’re here for.”

Akio and Ryosuke zoom in and look at the heli deck of the Samara. Akio smiles in happiness, he turns around and says with the HTFS.

Akio: “Eiko is back with Yamamoto too, they have successfully saved him.”

The HTFS members also seem delighted with that news, they also understand that this war is coming to an end.

But on the Musashi, Ryosuke is surprised and completely confused. What they’re seeing is Eiko holding a Saiga 12 on his shoulder and he’s standing next to president Yamamoto, who is talking with Masayoshi. Ryosuke lowers his binoculars slowly, he then change his radio to talk with Kaga only.

Ryosuke: “Akio… I… I don’t understand, what’s going on?”

Akio: “Eiko will explain everything for you, get on your heli and come over to my ship.”

Ryosuke asks his co-op captain to watch over his ship, he then goes to his ship’s helicopter and flies to the Kaga. A while later, the Mi-26 also takes off from the Samara and flies at the Kaga.

Akio: “All ship, disable all anti-air, that helicopter is not an enemy, I repeat, that helicopter is not an enemy, disable all anti-air!”

The Mi-26 lands on the Kaga’s deck, Eiko opens its door, thanks the pilots and gets off the helicopter. It then takes off and flies back to the Samara. Both ship then return back to Japan. On their way back, Eiko shows Ryosuke and the HTFS the files and tells them what happened to Yamamoto and they are just as shock as he was. Everyone completely changes their thoughts about Japan and Gensokyo, they now know who’s the real evil side. Ryosuke is also asked about what Akio is doing on patrol missions, with Akio’s request, Ryosuke only reports back that going so far only to observe Gensokyo more closely and easily. President Yamamoto coming back gives Gensokyo’s side a massive advantage which is the battleship Musashi. Each day, the end of this twisted war is coming closer and closer.

Ring ring.

“Hello?”

“Sir!!! The North Russian secret base is completely destroyed!!!”

“Excuse me WHAT?!”

“I’m the only survivor, Squadron X completely destroyed the base and a Russian helicopter has taken president Yamamoto away!!!”

“Fuck!!!… Alright, thank you for the info!”

“Sir? What’s wrong?”

“They have gotten the president back… COMMENCE ALL OUT WAR!!!”
