Seven Years In The Waiting: Eurofighter Typhoon Release Announcement

I think I’m finally ready to upload my Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4. It’s now been more than seven years since construction began, lots of successive minor adjustments have been made to the original design, available here: https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/5cZb7Z/Eurofighter-Typhoon

I think the only part that hasn’t been entirely replaced is the fuselage aft of the cockpit, everything else has been changed. A Funky Trees flight control system has been added, making it quite effortless to fly. It’s resistant to stalling during hard manoeuvring, controllable at high angles of attack and almost no trim input is needed, it practically flies itself. During aerial refuelling control sensitivity is reduced making it easier to contact the drogue and maintain formation with the tanker.

It’s equipped with (someone else’s) guided bombs, targeting pod and bombsight system. The old basic cockpit has been upgraded to a more complex cockpit interior including a HUD. This required a rebuild of the entire front fuselage.

I’ve teased this build a few times in the past, but it was never uploaded to this site as I always found some aspects which could be improved. I still don’t feel it’s entirely perfect, but I don’t see much point in further changes just now, since SP2 has been announced I expect the aircraft will be in need of considerable reworking in the not too distant future.

For now, I present the apex of Eurofighter development in SimplePlanes 1, I’ll probably upload some time this week:
