TUPL Tanks as of 6/13/2024

66.9k TheUltimatePlaneLover  6 months ago

Literally every tank I've ever made... I think.

Enjoy.

Oh also the dates/timeline/story all relate to the lore not in real life

M-32 "Tanko"

One of many MGLA/MDA-owned Tankos out for display

1941-1988, 2024

The M-32 Tanko is the oldest surviving example of a TUPL tank. It was first made in 1941, initially as a defense unit against potential threats during World War II, but it would ultimately end up being mass produced to deter threats during the Cold War. In truth, it had poor performance, as TUPL had little to no more experience building tanks than anyone else at the time, so reasonably it was a massive work in development. However, it would still be the vanguard for several TUPL tanks in the future.

Either ironically or thankfully though, it never saw combat against the theorized enemy. In fact, the M-32 served little purpose aside from propaganda and intimidation throughout its original service life. Eventually it was phased out in favor of newer tanks, but several stayed in inventory regardless due to the Tanko's ridiculously high numbers. These tanks would eventually be reactivated to finally see combat in the infamous Monarchii War, but unsurprisingly the Tankos did poorly, and the four activated tanks were all destroyed within 48 hours of the war officially starting. Several more were provided, but none were used, instead getting the same fate they had originally gotten in the first place- left in storage due to their high numbers.

Strengths:
-High in numbers
-Terrifying main cannon
-Several variants making it versatile
-Decently fast

Weaknesses:
-Relatively poor armor
-Virtually no suspension, can barely if at all fight off-road
-Old design and tech
-Low armament (one cannon, one machine gun)
-Poor driver optics

Fun Facts:
-Among the Combined SimpleVerse (Red V Green, Monarchii/Siren War, and PEAverse are all the same universe, which I shall call the Combined Simpleverse), "Tanko" has become an insulting term due to the M-32's poor performance.
-The Tanko was essentially TUPL's Sherman before the Sherman, having moderate combat performance (the Sherman would win in a fight easy-diff though unless the M-32 was using HE rounds) but very high numbers, as well as many variants.

Switcharoo Box Tank

A Switcharoo Box tank during testing circa 1951, notice how its engine and fuel cells are mounted towards the front (this was changed on later models)

1952-1982

The Switcharoo Box Tank was a very unique vehicle made by TUPL. More formally considered an UFV (Unmanned Fighting Vehicle), the Switcharoo Box Tank was well known for its unique ability to hide the weapon before the lid flipped open, allowing the cannon to extend out and be operated.

The Switcharoo never actually saw combat for TUPL, but several exported to Britain and America got to see a bit of service, mostly in the form of training, but also in a few small conflicts where it saw decent success, achieving a 7:1 win-loss ratio (specifically 21:3).

It was formally retired in 1982, but still served many non-combat roles until 1988, when it was officially retired. It was allegedly reactivated during the Monarchii War, but never saw combat in favor of other tanks which were superior in both performance and numbers, like Crestel's TVT-series tanks, or the TUPL M49A3 Shock (not to be confused with its very similar predecessor, the Shock MBT)

Strengths:
-Powerful gun
-Small profile
-Fast

Weaknesses:
-Easily noticeable lights
-Sub-par off-road performance
-Difficult to control the gun's left-right motion
-Decent but thin armor
-Older technology

Fun Facts:
-The Switcharoo Box Tank was almost nicknamed the Switchblade, but that name is allegedly reserved for TUPL's 5th Gen Fighter (type "Daggere" in the comments if you saw this)
-The Switcharoo is the first and one of the only TUPL tanks to use Tractor-style tires, the only other one being the Enargite VII.
-Speaking of which, unlike other TUPL tanks which use tires ingame to mimic tracks, the Switcharoo Box Tank actually uses wheels.

M81 "Obliterator"

An M81A1 Obliterator fires its cannon during a open-to-public demo at the MGLA base. In spite of the realistic tracer, the round was later revealed to be a potato.

1943-1945 (TUPL), 1945-1981 (RvG), 2024

The M81 Obliterator was another one of TUPL's older tanks, but it was significantly better than the M-32 for two reasons. The first being that the M81 was of course newer, but the second being that the Obliterator wasn't designed to be a versatile, all-around tank like the M-32. Instead, the M81 was designed to be a heavyweight destroyer that could crush any tank in its path. Slow, heavy, but dangerous, it packed some of the best armor and firepower of its time, and actually got to see some combat in Africa and Europe during WWII, albeit minimal. The end of WWII also marked the end of the heavy tank, at least in terms of sacrificing speed and agility for armor and firepower, so naturally TUPL began phasing out the M81. Like the Switcharoo Box Tank, phasing-out began in 1945, but the Obliterator still saw non-combat service up until 1949. That is, at least for TUPL.

After the M81 saw the last of its service days with TUPL, it was instead sold to Green Team of Red V Green. They saw great success with the tank, finding it perfect for a variety of combat scenarios. It was one of the most successful and feared Green-owned tanks at the time, and thanks to the upgraded M81A2 variant, stayed that way up until 1981 when it was finally retired in favor of the M-97 which had been made the previous year (said M-97 is not yet built, but it was the predecessor to the M-99 and the also not built M-98).

An M81A2 formerly used by Green Team and later in the M-War returns home to the MGLA base.
The M81 still wasn't done yet, though, as it would even go on to see humble combat service in the Monarchii War, like many old TUPL tanks. Surprisingly, it was formidable as ever, even tanking direct hits from the Ice Base's missiles. However, there is little discussion about what will come of the M81's service after the M-War.

Strengths:
-Heavy armor
-Terrifying gun
-Incredible machine gun number
-Interchangeable between HE (high-explosive) and AP (armor-piercing)

Weaknesses:
-Ground clearance is non-existent
-Neither is suspension
-Shaky wheels/tracks
-Slow boi
-Exposed driver
-Most of its fuel is in the exposed barrel

Fun Facts:
-The inspiration for the M81's design (in real life) is a crazy combination of the T-55, Maus, M4 Sherman, and a bunch of other random tank stuff.
-The M81's name comes from the M82 anti-materiel rifle, of course giving a nod to the Obliterator's primary purpose.

M5A "Gravity"

A Red M5A defends Yeager, circa 1941 long before the MGLA formed.

1939-1992

The M5A Gravity was a mighty SPAA tank built by Red Team in the late 1930s, development beginning in November 1937, and the first Gravity entering the Red Ar- Scarlet Ground Forces (SGF) inventory in 1939. It was easily the single most feared anti-aircraft weapon from the 1940s to the early 1950s, and even after that it was still a menace thanks to upgraded variants. In total, from its service lifespan from 1939 to 1992, it claimed a total of 11,352 (estimated) surface-to-air kills in the Red V Green war, excluding surface-to-surface kills or wins outside of the RvG conflict. However, it surprisingly was not reactivated for the Monarchii War, despite much anticipation that it would.

Strengths:
-Powerful guns
-Strong armor

Weaknesses:
-Large exhaust means easy target
-Wobbly tires
-Has some track issues

Fun Facts:
-The Gravity was based on the Skink, but I personally see decent resemblance to the Wirbelwind in retrospect.
-Despite what one may think, the Red arrow on the Gravity's side is not the symbol of Red Team. Red Team's symbol is a red hexagon with one side "cut out" by a white rectangle. The red-and-white triangles on the M5A were a sneaky feature that could be rotated in any direction, making it more difficult to tell which way an M5A was moving or facing in moderate-to-low visibility environments.

Da Tunk

Da Tunk basks in the sparks of his own victims during a training exercise.

1952-present

Da Tunk is a man, tank, shoebox, whatever you want to call him, who needs no real introduction.

Little is known about how he came into the world. All we know is that he exists and wreaks havoc. He's an absolute menace, to the point where even the A-40C fears him (that's the scariest Havoc II).

Da Tunk in his upgrades which turn him into an even deadlier monstrosity.

Strengths:
-Devastating weaponry
-Fast
-Decent armor (upgraded)
-Versatile
-Small profile
-Self-thinking; a literal smart tank

Weaknesses:
-Low-to-ground
-Mid armor (unupgraded)
-Main cannon is too powerful (has a tendency to collaterally damage himself)

Fun Facts:
-Da Tunk's upgraded armor is a culmination of a BattleBot and Titan Speakerman. Look close enough and you'll see it.
-Da Tunk was originally going to be the size of a shoebox, but I decided to keep him the size he is ingame for two reasons: first being it's much funnier to see a giant deadly shoebox than a normal-sized deadly shoebox, and the second being we already saw his size comparison to other tanks (including his brother-in-arms Le Tonk) during the Monarchii War, so why change it?
-Da Tunk has several unreleased alternative configurations, one of which allows him to lift up and throw enemy tanks, albeit he normally ends up using it to troll friendly tanks.

Shock MBT/Tank Destroyer

A Shock stands on its "stilts," firing its machine guns.

1984-1985

The Shock MBT/Tank Destroyer was TUPL's first off-road capable tank, and was considered the beginning of TUPL's successful tanks. However, the Shock MBT/Tank Destroyer was mainly used for testing only, before being adapted into the M49 Shock (specifically the A1 variant, then several onwards). Only two of the Shock MBT/Tank Destroyer prototypes were made, both of which currently reside in inactive service at the MDA's Yeager Base. One was allegedly damaged during a Skypark raid on the said base, but was later repaired due to the damage being relatively minimal.

Strengths:
-Powerful gun
-Fast
-Can off-road
-Lots of machine guns (plus a gatling)
-RIDICULOUS main cannon caliber
-Good crew survivability

Weaknesses:
-Wobbly tires
-No dazzlers
-Experimental cannon often damages the tank

Fun Facts:
-Both the Shock MBT (and thus M49 Shock) and Enargite VII are based off of self-made LEGO tanks. This actually turns out to be a trend amongst TUPL vehicles (especially during and shortly after the M-War), take for example the Tiltwing Superfortress, Super Hydra Mk. VI, M-99 Tank Destroyer, B-23A Strongarm, or even something as (relatively) recent as the F-33A Falchion.
-The Shock was originally planned to be a tank destroyer, but repurposed into a main battle tank halfway through development. However, this didn't stop TUPL's tank development crew from making another variant dubbed a Tank Destroyer, as show below.

Literal Tank Destroyer "Blue Ring"

A Literal Tank Destroyer (LTD) deploys flares while sprinting across the Yeager coastline, demonstrating what they would've had to do to avoid missiles during the Monarchii War.

1984-1988, 2024

The Literal Tank Destroyer, later referred to as "Blue Ring" (referring to the small but deadly blue-ring octopus), was a very unique design. It took the design of the Shock MBT, and made it amphibious by combining buoyant elements with powerful water propulsion systems. As for its original designation, the name "Literal Tank Destroyer" came from the two military terms "tank destroyer" and simply "destroyer." The Shock originally being a tank destroyer, but given amphibious capabilities, it could quite literally be a tank and a destroyer, like the ship. The LTD was so good in fact that it was actually mass-produced- to an extent. 455 were made (that's a relatively small number), and never saw combat in the 20th century.

However, like many old TUPL tanks, it was 2024 when the LTD got its time to shine. With the Monarchii Navy descending upon MGLA forces in Snowstone, the MGLA needed forces that could attack and repel enemy vessels. With no other options at the time with the exception of airstrikes, the LTD was of course deployed into combat. It saw surprising success, albeit seeing some losses too. Most have been moved to TUPL's private inventory, but a handful currently reside at the MGLA/MDA HQ.

Strengths:
-Literally everything the Shock MBT can do
-Can float
-Fast in water too

Weaknesses:
-Literally everything the Shock MBT can't do
-Sharp turns can lead to over-Gs, which of course lead to death
-Higher heat signature (can be detected in infrared easier)

Fun Facts:
-The LTD has (slightly) less losses than you think; four of its falls during the M-War were due to failed attempts to go from sea-to-land, and another one happened when the water propulsion system was activated on land, causing the LTD to literally fly off the hill it was going off of, allegedly going airborne for at least six seconds before plummeting into another one where it was damaged beyond repair. Thankfully, the crew all survived and were later rescued by none other than the infamous Da Tunk, but they were bruised both physically and mentally.

M49 "Shock"

A Shock flexes its capabilities during a photo shoot. What? The MGLA needs its fair share of propaganda, too!

1989-Present

The M49 Shock- not to be confused with its incredibly close predecessor, the Shock MBT- was the first in the line of "legendary" TUPL Main Battle Tanks, serving extensively since the late 1980s to the present day. In truth, it had little to no visible changes from the original Shock MBT, especially since the M49A1 and M49A2 were just daisy-chain upgrades of the original (e.g. the M49A1 actually didn't have the top Gatling Gun to save weight, but of course it was added back from the M49A2 and on). However, the M49A3 solves several of the Shock MBT's issues, as well as implementing dazzlers to throw off missiles.

The M49 first made a name for itself late in the RvG War, being sold to Green Team who used it to smash through enemy ground forces. It saw incredible success there before having a small rest period following the RvG War's end in 2002. The Shock allegedly was deployed to several countries, but never actually did anything, just appearing and disappearing, as if making a statement.

The Shock really got to shine during, you guessed it, the M-War. It was one of the first combat-operational tanks in the entire war, serving from beginning to end. It was a true force to be reckoned with, and its newer M49A4 variant didn't make things any easier for its enemies. The M49 scored several kills, and albeit taking a number of losses as well, it always had the numbers to make up for it. It also was decently survivable, with one infamous M49A3 dubbed "Cy" having half of his front ripped off, but continuing to fight and even becoming the first and only tank to capture an IS-3.

M49A4 drifting at Yeager.
Despite numerous technological advancements and other available tanks, the M49 still sees service to this day. The M49A1 and M49A2 variants retired in late 2023, but the M49A3 and beyond remain in production and are combat ready.

Strengths:
-High in numbers
-VERY high cannon caliber
-Powerful dazzlers
-FAST BOIII
-Lots of machine guns
-Can attach plow

Weaknesses:
-Average tank stuff I guess? I mean the M49 is pretty solid.

Fun Facts:
-I dunno

BTA-60 Enargite VII

An Enargite VII training on the MDA's Yeager base during the early Monarchii War

2003-Present

The Enargite VII (pronounced "ee-nar-jite seh-ven") was the second TUPL "top-tier MBT." Either due to its fame during the M-War or its resemblance to the Centurion, it's likely you recognize this tank one way or another.

Outside of the M-War, little is known about the E. VII, one thing that is known though is that there were in fact Enargites one through six. Aside from that, there is little confirmed lore, so skipping straight to the Monarchii War. The Enargite VII arrived a bit late, but caused mayhem and destruction against Monarchii ground forces from the time of its arrival to the date of its departure. None were destroyed, captured, or completely lost, but obviously, several were damaged. Most damages were minimal though, with the most severe damage being an Enargite VII that lost its left sideskirt due to a 3v1 ambush where a squad of IS-3s tackled the said Enargite VII- and the Enargite won.

It remained in service after the M-War, but in an experimental battle, several were actually damaged beyond repair when LunarEclipse (also known as Miss E.) threw the said tanks into the air, causing them to be severely damaged on impact. However, this was an intentional experiment.

Strengths:
-VERY heavy armor
-Powerful weaponry
-Versatile
-Good at off roading
-Can float
-Good driver visibility

Weaknesses:
-Slow acceleration
-Mid-wobbly tires
-No water propulsion
-50mm chain gun can jam frequently
-Exposed driver

Fun Facts:
-Yes, the Enargite VII is also based off of a LEGO- and the said LEGO is based on a Centurion.
-The E. VII is so commonly referred to as the Enargite that most people forgot that its actual designation is BTA-60.

AMX-10M ACRA

The AMX-10M idling in an MGLA hangar.

1995-Present

The AMX-10M was an experimental French tank destroyer. Despite being on the list of TUPL vehicles, it wasn't actually made by TUPL. However, TUPL did but it in the late 1980s before restoring, arming, and activating it in 1995.

It was normally just kept in inventory, being the first, only, and last of its kind, but the AMX-10M would eventually be deployed into combat during the M-War. It claimed several wins there, but only saw short service before a series of peace treaties ended the fighting on Snowstone, which was ultimately the beginning of the end for the M-War's ground game, with all operations from there being aerial or naval.

Strengths:
-Fast movement
-Decent at off roading
-Absolutely lethal missiles
-Also has a cannon and machine gun

Weaknesses:
-Can't rotate the main cannon; has to rotate full body to aim.
-Low armor
-No track armor

Fun Facts:
-Outside of the lore, the AMX-10M was my first ever attempt at replica, utilizing blueprints to attempt to mimic its design.
-The AMX-10M was one of only three replica tanks to receive high use during the M-War, along with the IS-3 and a heavily upgraded Le Tonk. A single KV-2 was also used.

Le Tonk (upgrade)

Le Tonk relaxing at Yeager.

Unknown-Present

Using @NMS360's Tonk as a base, Le Tonk is a heavily upgraded version of the famous meme, Tonk. More accurately, Le Tonk is Tonk, same person/tank, just with some upgrades.

Little is known about his past, but much is known about his service in the M-War. He was one of the MGLA's first highly successful tanks, but what truly made him special was what he symbolized. Le Tonk was a motivational symbol to tanks and soldiers of the MGLA, and several say that Le Tonk's never quitting spirit was an important factor to success in Snowstone.

Le Tonk not only did loads of damage, but survived the war with minimal damage, and currently resides at the MGLA base. However, he allegedly has plans to visit Italy.

Strengths:
-Very fast
-Lightweight
-Decent off-roader
-Small profile
-Terrifying armament
-Incredible armor
-And that's all without upgrades

Weaknesses:
-Le Tonk's weakness is that he has no weaknesses

Fun Facts:
-As funny as it may sound, I'm being entirely serious about Le Tonk's strength.

M-99 Tank Destroyer

An M-99 jumps over a bump at Yeager, flexing its mobility.

2017-Present

The M-99 Tank Destroyer was a tank destroyer (no duh) built by TUPL. Being that it was incredibly new, the M-99 saw no service prior to the M-War.

That was its combat debut. It proved a powerful force, allegedly taking only one loss throughout the war (although some sources say none were lost), while taking out several tanks. It also was able to defend itself from Ice Base missiles, but this wasn't too much of an issue since the Ice Base was destroyed relatively early in the war.

Strengths:
-Good armor
-Powerful weaponry
-Good for off-roading
-Fast (as usual)

Weaknesses:
-Driver view is moderate
-Exposed driver
-Compact frame means a penetrating hit could basically destroy everything

Fun Facts:
-Yes, the M-99 is based on a LEGO. However, the said LEGO actually bears much closer resemblance to the not-yet-shared M-98.

M-99 "Manface"

Manface demonstrating his cannon power before being deployed to Snowstone.

2018-Present

I... I don't even want to explain this.

Strengths:
-Everything the M-99 can do
-Rizz

Weaknesses:
-Everything the M-99 can't do

Fun Facts:
-There were two Manface prototypes, but one was corrupted into the Thermonuclear Psychopath. Manface and TNP clashed only once in history, with the TNP coming out on top although Manface was able to escape alive. The TNP was later defeated by Cy (M49A3) and Ivan (Upgraded KV-2), who turned it into an anime girl before sending it to the outer thermosphere. Don't ask.
-Somehow, the M-99 with Man Face is released, but it doesn't look like the perfectly normal M-99 is.

Flying T-34 "Takusha"

Takusha flying over Yeager sometime after the M-War.

1941-1991, 2023-Present

The Flying T-34, better known by her name "Takusha," is yet another tank not precisely built by TUPL, but adopted nonetheless. She is currently the leader of the NMR (pronounced and known as NeMaR), but surprisingly doesn't side with the Sirens, so she's on friendly terms with the MDA for now.

Originally, Takusha was built as a perfectly normal T-34 in Soviet Russia. And by perfectly normal, I mean literally what she is right now. However, thanks to the collapse of the Soviet Union, nobody was really fit to operate Takusha, so she just waited in a hangar for 32 years. She hadn't seen combat throughout her 50 year service.

Later she was found by TUPL and adopted, as well as getting refurbishments and upgrades. She went into combat in the Monarchii War, and was one of the fighters associated with the Destruction of the Ice Base. For one reason or another, however, she sometime broke away and formed the NMR along with her other adopted brother Mitchell and Mitchell's friend, Manface. The NMR was hostile to all sides, but was always a little less draconian to the MGLA.

Strengths:
-Flying
-Tank
-Flying tank
-Immune to cringe

Weaknesses:
-She is deadly afraid of cats. Don't ask.

Fun Facts:
-If you put pineapple on pizza, Takusha will revoke your pizza privilege- with a 76mm cannon.

[PEV] Skink AA Tank

Skink looking menacing in this picture.

1940s-1946

The Combined SimpleVerse is an alternate universe, in case you didn't figure it out yet. In this said universe, the Skink did enter mass production. The only issue being that since it was designed for Canada, it never really saw too much service. Some were borrowed by America and shipped to Europe where they did see a little combat, but that's really it. The end of WWII marked the end for the Skink, but some stayed in service with Canada due to the threats of the Cold War. Of course, though, the invention of the missile rendered Skink obsolete.

Strengths:
-Powerful cannons

Weaknesses:
-Low armor
-No weapons other than the AA guns
-Slow-ish

Fun Facts:
-Skink was the first ever PEV, or Part Efficient Vehicle

PEV A41 Centurion Mk.III

A Centurion located at Yeager. Yes, most of these pictures are at Yeager.

1945-Present

The Centur... wait. I don't really need to say much here, the Centurion's lore ingame is virtually identical to its real life story. Here you go.

Well, TUPL managed to buy some Centurions. We can't quite explain why he didn't use them in the M-War, though.

Strengths:
-Mobile (for a tank)
-Good armor
-Powerful gun
-IT CAN MAKE TEA (AHAHAHAHAHA)

Weaknesses:
-Old tech (more than likely)

Fun Facts:
-Not to be confused with the Flying Centurions

Strengths:
-Father of brainrot blasts
-And psychological warfare
-This dark creation has been revealed
-Flows over no man's land
-It's a poisonous nightmare
-A deadly mist over the battlefield

Weaknesses:
-If you flush it, it dies
-If it tries to fly, it dies
-If it goes off-road, it dies.
