[Update Log ] M.B.S. v1.4 "Whirling Winds"

Hello Everyone! Im back once more for another feeble update for now, as v1.5 will be a massive overhaul on all on the aircrafts and vehicles but enough about that, today we're going to cover all of the new features, vehicles, and new physics mechanics of the ground vehicles and The questionable Testing Versions


I. New Releases

1. 2S6 (2K22) "Tunguska"

Mostly known as the 2K22, the 2S6 nicknamed "Tunguska" is a soviet Self-Propelled Anti-Air (SPAA) meant to supersede the ZSU-23-4.

Designed in the 70s, This 34.9 Tons monster with a 710HP and Top Speed of 65kph both forward and reverse packs quite the punch as its 2x 2A38M 30mm autocannons that fires at over 1250rpm EACH is willing to shred anything flying above it, and not only that it also comes with 8 missiles too.

The 9M311 Surface-to-air missile has quite the stats, with a max speed of around Mach 2.6 and an overload of 32Gs, this bad boy can single handily destroy any fast moving target with ease, but while the locking range of 8km is great, it requires to keep lock of the target at all times during interception.

The armor on this ground vehicle is very weak being only 9mm (900hp) all around the hull and turret and also being quite big in size, it is very susceptible to damage and an easy target to spot for an attack aircraft.

Note: There is no Hydropneumatic Suspension Implemented. Maybe soon once I figured it out.

2. ZSU-23-4 "Shilka"

Mentioned in the previous vehicle, the ZSU-23-4 proudly nicknamed the "Shilka" is also soviet Self-Propelled Anti-Air (SPAA), while it was superseded by 2S6, this ground vehicle ain't joking around, with a weight of only 20.4 Tons but with 280HP engine topping at 55kph, this vehicle is indeed slower than the 2S6.

But it makes up for how small it is compared to the 2S6, making it a difficult target to spot but it also has a very weak armor of 9.4mm (940hp) all around the hull and 8.9mm (890hp) all around the turret. It has 4x 2A7 23mm autocannons firing up to 850rpm EACH, this vehicle does pack a lot of firepower.

3. Mirage 2000-5F

A very fresh entry of the french air force in M.B.S. The Dassault Mirage 2000-5F an upgraded variant of the Mirage 2000, this variant introduced in 1993 had 9 hardpoints (5 in the fuselage, 4 under the wings) and expanded radar operations for various missions.

This aircraft has access to Magic 2 which has infrared [IR] seekers capable of pulling up 35Gs with a top speed of Mach 3 but with a downside of a lock range of only 2km. If used correctly they can be very lethal to unsuspecting targets.
(IRRCM is obviously not possible because of limitations in the game, but who knows maybe SP2 will have IRCCM... right?)

It can also carry Super 530 which are semi-active radar homing [SARH] missiles having a decent locking range of 40km at a top speed of Mach 4.5, they are really fast and can decently pull up to 20Gs.

It also has access to several ground munitions as well like the 500lbs Mk82 General Purpose Bombs, and laser guided ones like the GBU-12, GBU-16, and GBU-24.

Dogfighting is also a capability for this aircraft, snuggling 2x DEFA 554 30mm autocannons right under the inlets, this angry autocannon can fire at a peak of 1800rpm EACH, accurate at firing and can shred enemies out of the air, but has a slow muzzle velocity of 815m/s, and has a very limited amount of ammo of only 125 rounds with a reloading time of 18 seconds.

As for performance the aircraft have really good maneuverability with a top speed of 1100kph at sea level, it's well suited for low altitude dogfights.


II. New Features And Vehicle Physics Mechanics

1. Landing Chutes

A brand new funky trees code for the drag chute is made when landing, Upon landing holding down the brake will release a drag chute under the right circumstances, and no its very smart, braking in the air won't release it, same goes to taxing but to do not go over 50kph otherwise it will activate it.

2. New Suspension, Acceleration, and Grip Physics

It's very fancy and all but while I was gone... for a month, I did some research about the xml encoded to the Resizable Wheels, which in turn produces probably the best suspension and grip setup.

Lets start with the new suspension, the suspension spring strength is reduced to a mere 10% [0.1 in xml] which gives a very soft realistic suspension and track-like deformation.

This in turn also allowed for slow acceleration unlike the original ones that immediately went up to speed regardless of the weight, but also produced an issue, a really glitchy issue.

You see when you put a Resizable Wheel with a really weak suspension strength below a very heavy vehicle, upon loading the craft into the game the wheel suddenly starts having seizures, which is quite bad to look at.

So in order to fix it, I simply had to increase the slipAsymptote to 8000 and set the slipExtremum to 8, voila! the seizure is fixed!

This also now gave tracks-like grip physics, usually when putting the roll joystick to either fully to the left or right it causes the Tank/SPAA to spin as fast it can but now even with a roll fully to the left or right limits its spin speed to realistic approach and gives a quicker turn response.

Note: Climbing around mountains or inclines is still possible albeit it's a bit or much harder and slower now.


III. Testing Area

I've might caught you by suprise when the catalogue had the Helicopters and The New Tank Category appeared for testing, this is because I've never had quite the experience playing and tweaking around with helicopters so it's a first for me, so these testing versions are made in order for me to receive feedback from you guys who downloaded the crafts and tested them out, it would be very helpful as this can further refine it's gameplay mechanics for easier and more entertaining flight experience.

As for Tanks, they're basically the same as the SPAA mechanics, but I'm here mostly for tweaking and balancing the cannons gameplay because as you know they are insanely OP.

So for those who downloaded it... Try testing it out on my other builds or go play multiplayer with your friends and destroy them with it to see the balancing power.

I won't include their stats here, you can read them thru their crafts instructions, as they're supposedly for future updates but the crafts are the AH-1G "HueyCobra" and the Chrysler Defense M60 "Patton", So go check and try them out now! They are available today until the next update comes out.



Concluding Notes

And that pretty much concludes most of this update, it's feeble but trust me, there's something much bigger and better coming in v1.5, it's actually quite prepared now, but it wont be quick so expect it really soon.
