Project E, a secret project by the Phoenixian Republic in 1989, aims to create drone aircraft capable of going toe to toe with the best fighters that any other nation can field. It's currently in development with the Gehirn E-08 and Gehirn F-39BRST.

The project has two main strands, one on taking and developing a suitable aircraft on which the drone will be based and the other on developing the remote controls, then eventually the AI control. Both strands will eventually fuse into a final product.

Talon Engineering, Alistair Aerospace, and Gehirn Industries competed to produce the fighter that would be selected for the first strand, producing the Talon F-37, Alistair F-38, and Gehirn F-39, with the Gehirn F-39 being selected.
