Episode 16: Chaotic Naval Battlefield

At 7am next morning, everyone has finished preparing, all ships and aircrafts are battle ready, Squadron X and Gensokyo’s Guardians squadron aboard the Shtorm along with their plane. But there’s one special person aboard the Shtorm too, it’s president Yamamoto.

Victor: “Alright everyone, seems like we’re good to go, all ships ready?”

All captains: “Ready sir!”

Victor: “All ships, set sail! Time to end this once and for all!!”

In total, Gensokyo’s fleet has 89 ships, including 3 super carriers, 7 battleships, 4 battlecruisers, a battlecarrier, the rest are cruisers, frigates and destroyers. On the other side, Japan has 98 ships, including 5 supercarriers, 3 battleships and the rest are cruisers, frigates and destroyers. However, the Ororchi has its own fleet or not is still unknown.

Akio: *sigh “This has gotten way more complicated than it should.”

Eiko: “This won’t be easy, again, it’s either go very right or very wrong, there’s no in between.”

Aiko: “In anyway, this is a big battle so.”

Akio brings his hand up.

Akio: “It’s been a pleasure working with you, captain.”

Eiko: “…Me too, kid.”

Both shakes their hands.

Akio and Eiko looks behind them and see the HTFS are looking at them.

Akio: “Come here, you guys too.”

They shake hands and hug each other, causing a chain reaction to the whole Kaga, like a beforehand farewell in case things go wrong.

At 2pm, on the Pacific Ocean, both sides encounter each other, face to face.

Japanese fleet commander (Zuikaku): “Alright everyone, they’re here, causing so many problems for us and now are attacking us too, show no mercy!”

But something… unexpected happens…

Yamamoto: “This is president Yamamoto of Japan, I am on the-…”

Yamamoto lowers the microphone.

Yamamoto: “Shtorm?”

Victor: “Yes sir, Shtorm.”

Yamamoto brings the mic back up again.

Yamamoto: “ I am on the Russian aircraft carrier Shtorm, for the sake of restoring peace between Japan and Gensokyo, and connect the two countries again. Together we can make a better world for-…”

Japanese fleet commander: “The president is currently with the enemies, see him as such and sink him with them!”

Eiko: “We only have one chance.”

Akio nods. But just when he’s about to speak…

Random Mogami: “S-Sir, that’s the president speaking. P-Please calm down and disengage!”

A Mogami at the front of the fleet suddenly turns sideways as an attempt to slow down the fleet.

Japanese fleet commander: “All ships stay loyal to the fleet, a traitor is blocking our way, sink it!”

5 Destroyers at the front aim and shoot down the Mogami. The frigate is on fire and slowly sinking, no one survived.

After a moment of silence…

Akio: “This is Kaga of the Japanese Navy! We cannot follow a fleet commander willing to sink one of his own ships, we will protect president Yamamoto! Any ships that are with us, change course an follow us!”

The Kaga surprised both Gensokyo and Japan sides.

Japanese fleet commander: “Kaga is a traitor too, shoot it down!”

Everyone on the Kaga looks around and see 15 ships behind them turning their cannons towards the Kaga. Everyone looks at each other one more time, Eiko and Akio close their eyes and ready accept their death. But suddenly…

*BOOM!!!

Everyone is surprised by the explosion, they look back again. Eiko and Akio are shocked, all 15 ships behind them are on fire, some of them are completely torn apart. While everyone is still confused, no one noticed that Musashi is actually off formation and is on the right side of the fleet, keeping an eye on Kaga.

Ryosuke: “This is battleship Musashi of the glorious Japanese Navy! We will fight for president Yamamoto! We are coming with you Kaga! Any ship that doesn’t follow Kaga, WILL BE FIRED UPON!!!”

Ryosuke’s threat is so powerful that it caused around 20 ships to speed up and surround Kaga, forming a new fleet.

Victor: “Protect those brave deflectors, launch fighters! Battleships, you guys help separate them from their fleet! Moscow, go support Musashi! Everyone else, ENGAGE!!!”

Gensokyo’s battleships: “Roger!”

Ivan: “Copy that!”

All ships: “Roger!”/“Copy!”/“Aye captain!”

Victor: “Mr.President, please take your leave.”

Yamamoto: “What?”

Victor: “You go out there, shake hand with president Masayoshi, take some pictures and show them to the world.”

Within 1 minute, 4 SU-57 squadrons takeoff from the Shtorm, 5 J-35 squadrons takeoff from the 003 and 004 and the experimental J-20 squadron takeoff from the 003. The whole fleet spread into 4 groups, the main group fight head-on, 2 groups turn outward and attack from the sides, the carriers stay behind. A VTOL cargo jet also takeoff from the Shtorm and flies extremely far away from the battlefield.

Ryosuke connects radio with Shinano and Yamato.

Ryosuke: “This is Musashi to Shinano and Yamato, we are sister ships, don’t make me do this.”

After a short while, both Shinano and Yamato break from their formation and start following Kaga. Seeing everything, the Akagi also breaks formation too.

Akagi’s captain: “Kaga, we’re joining you.”

Akio: “Just about to call you out Gou!”

The fleet commander looks around in disbelief as around 25 ships has abandoned his fleet. Filled with rage, he yells.

Japanese fleet commander: “KILL THEM ALL!!!”

The remaining ships of the fleet start firing their gun and missiles at Gensokyo’s and the deflected ships.

Victor: “HERE WE FUCKING GO!!! LET’S DO THIS!!!”

All ships fight viciously, laser, missiles, bullets, planes and helicopters cover the entire battlefield. Moscow fire its rail cannons and missiles, the other battleships launches their missiles and fire their cannons. The 4 dragon battleships raise their missile barrage up, those barrages house 24 missiles, they can rotate like a turret and fire in a burst of 3 missiles. Within 7 minutes, 6 enemy Japanese squadrons and 2 SU-57 squadron are shot down, 1 J-35 squadron is heavily damaged, 2 enemy frigates, 3 enemy destroyers and 2 Russian frigates are sunken, 10 Russian and 5 Chinese frigates are damaged. After 7 minutes, the Kaga’s fleet has successfully separated from the Japanese fleet, leaving the their old fleet completely exposed.

Victor: “Both fleet have merged! There’s nothing blocking our view anymore! Squadron X, takeoff!”

Akio: “We’re safe now! HTFS, takeoff and show everyone what you are capable of!”

A short while later, all 5 experimental fighters of Squadron X are in position, they throttle to afterburner and the landing gear holders retract back into the flightdeck and all 5 planes jump off the Shtorm. Shortly after Squadron X took off, the HTFS is also in position and ready for launch, however, Kaga only has 4 catapult so Kai has to do a normal takeoff from the end of the runway. After Asuka, Emi, Ayamy and Hana are catapulted off, they engages in formation right away, leaving an empty space in the middle for Kai. However, Kai isn’t in his ATD-X this time. A small, hexagonal cone shaped, single engine with TVC stealth plane with swept wings with 2 tails on top and bottom of each wings, between the tails is a big hexagonal shaped tube with an ominous purple glow inside, canards at the nose, cockpit in the middle of the plane and is painted in black with yellow trim takeoff from the Kaga, it caught everyone on Gensokyo and Japanese sides by surprise.

Victor: “The hell is that thing…?”

Ivan: “What in the… you know that Sakura?”

Sakura: “Yes darling, Project J14W, experimental nuclear powered fighter jet with energy machine guns and two nuclear cannons on its wings. It was based on the Imperial Japan’s J7W2”

Volkóv: “Sokolóv, Kai has a new toy.”

Sokolóv: “Hmm? Wow, that thing looks damn horrifying, seems like it’s pretty powerful too, let’s see what it’s capable of.”

Kai: “Girls, spread out and fight seriously alright, this is a big battle. I’ll fight on my own.”

Asuka, Emi, Ayamy and Hana: “Roger captain!”

All HTFS members spread out and engages the Japanese enemy aircrafts. Kai however, he goes straight for the enemy fleet head on. He flies pass above the Izumo while shooting his energy guns, disable the battleship’s anti-air guns. Then he pitches up high and dives back down at the Zuikaku. The inside of the tubes on his wings glow a blinding purple light, then two nuclear energy projectiles shoots out from both tubes at the Zuikaku’s flight deck, causing two massive energy explosions.

Japanese fleet commander: “Argh!”

Zuikaku’s captain: “Argh! What in the-… Catapults are destroyed and the whole flight deck is damaged sir!!”

Sokolóv: (That’s… a crazy amount of firepower for a small plane… Good thing he’s on our side.)

Kai: “This plane was originally meant for Shinigami, but he couldn’t fly it properly so now it’s in my hand.”

Sokolóv: “Really? That’s new, so he was asked to fly multiple planes but decided to not do that. He really is way worse than we thought.”

Kai: “What do you mean? He’s like one of the most formidable pilots in the world right?”

Kai: “He’s good, but just with one plane, he’s just good with his plane and that’s it. He continuously practiced with his plane to perfection, practiced with anger and hatred, because of that, he can’t change his plane. That’s his weakness, a fatal weakness. He died in a new temporary plane to replace his old plane which was destroyed on the Shokaku.”

Kai: “I see.”

Both Squadron X and HTFS fight to their best, multiple ships are sunk and almost all enemy carrier squadrons are shot down. During the fight, Kai does a 20 kills combo within 2 minutes, all with guns, Kai amazed everyone with his combat capabilities. However, strange things start to happen…

Victor: “Everyone, attention, new enemies on the radar, it’s a whole air fleet, 40 fighters and 10 bombers.”

Emi: “What the-… Where are they come from?!”

Kai: “No clue.”

Victor: “Strangely enough, all of the fighters are carrier based planes.”

On the T-60, Sokolóv is thinking about something.

Sokolóv: “Hmm… alright, HTFS!”

Kai: “Yes?”

Sokolóv: “Merge squadrons.”

Kai: “Merge- Huh?!”

Sokolóv: “Squadron X and HTFS, combine squadron, we need to work together to take them out quick!”

Kai: “Copy that! HTFS, back to formation!”

Sokolóv: “Squadron X, reform formation!”

All 4 ATD-Xs come back to Kai, all Squadron X planes come back to Sokolóv, both squadrons are back in their formation again. Squadron X planes move a bit to leave an empty space between each planes, HTFS planes slide right into those spaces. Kai is with Sokolóv, Asuka is with Volkóv, Emi is with Terminator, Ayamy is with Orlóv and Hana is with Roza.

Sokolóv: “We will fight in pairs alright? Fight to your best and watch over your partner at the same time.”

Everyone: “Alright/Copy/Roger!”

Sokolóv: “Okay, on my mark. 5!… 4!… 3!… 2!… 1! Go, go!!!”

All planes throttle up to afterburner and charge straight at the enemy air fleet. Kai opens fire first but not with his guns or his cannons. 4 pairs of weapons bay doors behind the cockpit open on the J14W’s body. Kai holds the fire button for 1 second and 20 mini projectiles shoot out, home in and destroy 8 planes, they’re mini missiles, nobody expected that. After the combined squadron passes through the fleet, 20 planes are already down including all bombers. Then they turn around and dogfight with the remaining planes. The advantage of fighting in pair is that one is a bait or distraction while the other is the attacker and the other way around. The highlight of this is Emi’s energy combined with Terminator stealthiness make an amazing combination. Emi flies crazily and intentionally bringing enemies to Terminator’s sight for him to take them out. When an enemy is on Terminator’s rear then he will be the bait for Emi to fly up and strikes back down without being noticed. Another amazing pair is Roza and Hana. During the fight, Roza is chased by a plane and so is Hana. Hana quickly gets behind the one chasing Roza still with an enemy on her tail. Then Roza does a backflip and gets behind Hana’s chaser, both then destroy their enemies synchronically. Roza then rolls to hit Hana’s wing lightly as a compliment. Within just 5 minutes, all 50 planes are shot down.

Sokolóv: “Honestly, Kai and my teammates aside, you four has fought very well.”

Emi can’t contain her excitement and chuckles, giving everyone a good laugh.

Asuka: “Thank you Snow Demon. That’s the biggest compliment I’ve ever had in my life.”

Sokolóv: “Ah, no need to mention it.”

Japanese fleet commander: “Argh!!! WHAT’S GOING ON, WHY NONE OF OUR SHIPS ARE FIGHTING?!?!”

Zuikaku’s captain: “SIR, WE ONLY HAVE TWO SHIPS LEFT!!! US AND THE IZUMO!!!”

Japanese fleet commander: “WHAT?!?!”

The fleet commander looks down the radar screen, there’s only one ally signal on it.

Victor: “Heh, he’s so blinded by rage that he can’t notice that we have sunk his entire fleet. All ships and planes, concentrate fire on the Izumo and Zuikaku!”

All Gensokyo’s ships and aircrafts launch missiles at the two ships. Everyone on the Zuikaku and the Izumo and the fleet commander can only watch as more than 50 missiles are approaching them. All the missiles hit and cause two massive explosions, both ships are completely torn apart, none of both even look relatively like a ship anymore. Everyone on Gensokyo side cheers in victory, so does the deflected Japanese fleet.

Victor: “To all that survived the battle, I congratulate you. However, celebrating like that is enough, we still haven’t done yet.”

Akio: “Phew… we… we actually did it.”

Eiko: “Indeed kid, good thing luck is on our side.”

All aircrafts then land back to their carriers, the whole fleet now has up to 110 ships and they continue their way to Japan to finish their mission, to free Japan from whatever is going on. The battle lasted for a whole hour, finished at 3 pm.

*One hour later…

Victor: “Everyone, attention, new enemies signals on the radar, it’s another naval fleet. The middle signal seems suspiciously far away from the others…”

Sakura: (I don’t have a good feeling about this…)

Victor: “Spotter, any visual?”

Spotter: “Uhm… yes sir, I have visual, one enemy ship, looks like a trimaran… wait… IS THAT A FUCKING B-52 TAKEOFF FROM IT?!?!”

Victor, Ivan and Sakura all open their eyes wide in shock while everyone is confused and surprised.

Sakura: “Oh… no…”

Victor: “Everyone… it’s Project Ororchi.”

Victor sends the blueprint to every ships of fleet, everyone opens it and he continue to speak.

Victor: “A 1.23km long super weapon secretly made by the Imperial, it has a lot of firepower and is extremely durable, plus it has an energy dorm shield too.”

Everyone’s expression slowly becomes terrified, no one think such thing can exist, yet, here it is, and they have to fight it.
