Episode 17: Project Ororchi

However, not just one bomber takeoff from the Orochi, 2 bombers, 3 bombers, 4, 1 squadron, 2 squadrons, 3 squadrons,… The Ororchi sends out a whole air fleet at once. When they planes are taking off, the energy shield is visible and is lowered for the planes to fly out. The Orochi also has its own fleet, some of them are clones of Yamato and the rest are cruisers, among them is the Ibuki.

Victor: “Shit…”

003’s captain: “Now what do we do…”

Victor: “Gensokyo Guardians squadron, takeoff. J-20 squadron and Kai, follow them, I will guide you guys to defeat the Orochi.”

Marisa: “Eh? Why so few planes?”

Victor: “Because only planes with energy weaponry can bypass the Orochi’s shied, nothing else works, even kamikaze. Fight carefully at high speed, you guys will need to attack that thing head on.”

Kai: “How powerful is its anti-air?”

Victor: “more than 100 energy anti-air autocannon, they’re all visual based.”

Marisa: (Visual based…) “Reimu, I’m gonna break formation, I will fight on my own.”

Reimu: “Huh? Uhm… Okay…?”

Marisa then flies away from the Gensokyo Guardians squadron.

Victor: “Where’s she going?”

Reimu: “Don’t mind her, she’s pretty stubborn and like to fight on her own.”

Victor: “Alright…? Everyone ready?”

GG, J-20s and Kai: “Ready!”

Victor: “Target has been updated, the energy shield is inside of the hull, try to rip it open and destroy the dorm, we will take care of the others!”

All planes throttle up and fly at the Orochi head on while open fire. However, it was a pretty bad decision as the Orochi’s anti-air open fire, all of the anti-air cannons are tri-barreled, basically giving them bullet hell, only GG squadron is able to fly in the excessive amount of bullet as they have done this before.

J-20 pilot: “Commander, we can’t get close, there’s way too much bullet!”

Victor: “Copy that, keep your distance, let the GG squadron take care of those… where’s Marisa anyway-…”

Marisa: “Reimu, tell the team to fly up and let the guns follow you!”

Reimu: “Copy that! Everyone, follow me!”

GG squadron suddenly fly straight up above the Orochi, causing all of its anti-air guns to point at them. At the same time, two lines of energy bullets suddenly come out of thin air, bypass the Orochi’s shield and destroy all guns on its left hull.

Shogun: “What in the-… what just shot us?!”

Orochi’s captain: “Don’t know sir! All port hull’s anti-air are disabled!!”

Within 30 seconds, those lines of bullets appear again and disable anti-air on the right hull.

Shogun: “Argh! Are they playing magic with us?!”

Reimu: “Marisa has destroyed many of its guns, everyone, come back down!”

All 5 GG squadron planes turn their nose back down and fly straight at the Ororchi from above.

Reimu: “Fire!”

Reimu’s, Sakuya’s, Sanae’s, Youmu’s and Reisen’s planes open fire at the Ororchi. All anti-air guns are destroyed. There’s a distortion in the air, that distorted area then turn orange and Marisa plane is revealed, thanks to the optical camouflage built-in on her plane’s body, she was able to fly completely undetected and shot down the beast’s anti-air defense.

Orochi’s captain: “All anti-air are destroyed sir!”

Shogun: “How can 6 planes so powerful?!”

Ivan: “Victor, the girls destroyed that thing’s anti-air defenses!”

Victor: “Okay, J-20, Kai! The girls have disabled its anti-air, get back to them and destroy the shield at the top of the main hull! Squadron 4, prepare and ready for takeoff! Fire missiles!!!”

All 3 J-20s and Kai fly back to the Orochi and open fire at a strange structure placed at the top of the ship. All 3 J-20s activate their laser and they start melting away the cover for the shield core.

Orochi’s captain: “They are going for the shield!!!”

Shogun: “Shit! We can do nothing with them.”

J-20’s pilot: “Kai, our lasers are overheating, the core is exposed, can you-…”

Kai: “Okay, let me handle it!”

Kai charges up the two nuclear cannons on the wings, the inside of the tubes glow a blinding purple light, then, with a press of a button, two massive energy projectiles are shot out, fly through the shield and straight at the core, causing a massive explosion. All the pilots, Victor, Ivan and Sakura go quiet, waiting for something to happen. Suddenly the whole shield becomes visible, a red dorm shield with a hexagon grid, then the whole shield cracks and shatters to pieces and disappears into thin air.

Ivan: “Look!”

Victor: “All ship, concentrate fire on the Orochi!!!”

The entire collab fleet turn their fire at the Orochi, slowly ripping it apart.

Orochi’s captain: “The ship is suffering heavy damages sir!!!”

Shogun: “Open the missiles!!!”

Orochi’s captain: “Roger that!!! Open the missiles!!!”

Two massive panels explode off the Orochi, two Doomsday ICBM slowly rises up from it.

Victor: “I ain’t falling for the same thing twice! Gunner, fire at the base of the missiles!”

Gunner: “Roger!”

Two cannons on the Shtorm fire at the base of the missiles, destroying the pistons that lift them up.

Shogun: “What the, why did it stop?!”

Orochi’s captain: “…Fuck… they have destroyed the pistons!!!”

Victor: “All aircrafts, come back to your fleet!!! Marisa, you have big powerful missiles on your plane right?!”

Marisa: “Yes?!”

Victor: “Alright, fire one missile at the Ororchi then turns around and run away immediately, got it?!”

Marisa: “Okay!”

Marisa presses a button on her plane, a door opens and drop the massive Stargazer missile down. The missile ignites, Marisa turns around and throttle to afterburner and run back to the fleet. All ships from Gensokyo side stop firing, everyone goes quiet, waiting for the missile to impact. Suddenly…

A blinding while light… nothing can be seen… it’s like heaven… you can’t see anything… you can’t hear anything… just a blinding white light in your vision and the ringing in your ears… you see nothing… you hear no one… you-

BOOM!!!

A massive shockwave destroys all the windows of the ships, all planes in the air lose control and start spinning. Ivan covers Sakura to protect her, everyone put their arm in front of their eyes to block the blinding lights. Planes on the carriers, most lean onto their wings, some are completely blown back and drop out of their carrier. After a while, Victor starts to able to make out the instrument panel in front of him. When he can clearly see the control panel, he slowly lowers his arm and look ahead, he’s in shock, a massive mushroom like explosion goes all the way up to cloud height. Victor grabs the microphone.

Victor: “Can anyone hear me? If you are hearing me, then you are still alive… Everyone… the Orochi fleet… is completely destroyed.”

Many sailors on all ships start to lower their arms to look. After a moment of silence, one ship starts cheering, causing a chain reaction to everyone, even the pilots. Luckily, all planes are okay, no one crashed or suffer any major damage from the blast, all planes then land back to their carriers. The battle lasted more than 30 minutes and is a complete victory for Gensokyo.

*10pm

Victor: “Hey, everyone, I just did some random research and found out about the Orochi mythology. It is an 8 headed sea monster from Japanese folklore. Shinigami’s squadron is also called Orochi squadron and had 8 members, representing the 8 heads of the Orochi, that ship and that squadron were meant to fight together. If Squadron X didn’t bait them to fight with Reimu earlier, it would have been very messy for us.”

Emi: “Man, just hearing that gives me goosebumps…”

Kai: “Yeah, that thing itself was scary enough, when the nuke are destroyed, I thought I would never get a chance to say goodbye to you guys.”

All 4 HTFS girls hugs Kai.

Asuka: “You were very brave there chief, I was amazed, I’m glad that I’m able to fight by your side.”

Emi: “Me too!”

Kai: “You guys are proud of me, and so am I, I’m very proud to have good teammates like you too.”

Victor: “Alright, everyone get a good rest, well will move straight to Japan tomorrow and do our very last mission, free it from its evil government!”
