1) 1960, a group called Smith-hill Co., after being sued by SVHOV, an enemy of their’s, they break into 3 pieces, Smithsonian Institution, Hill Zone Co., and Smith Prage (owned by SVHOV), Hill Zone Co. goes bankrupt in an incident in 1961 while Smith Prage merged with SVHOV, making SVHOV Prage. Smithsonian Institution gives up on making engines, and go to SmithSonian International Airways.
2) 1961, SmithSonian International Airways gets their first plane from Douglas, the DC-8. Eventually, SmithSonian expands with more DC-8s, and orders 23 of them. SmithSonian also pre-orders 61 DC-9s, and also in 1964 they order 70 727s. Boeing gets very popular with SmithSonian, too. In 1966, we ordered 93 737s.
3) 1969, we change our name to Smithsonian Airlines. In 1971, the 747 enters our service, we order 23 of them. We order another 45 737s for more service. In 1980, we open a ground company called Smithsonian Ground Services. In 1987 we asked Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria to sponsor us, and in 1989 they accepted, and we made the ‘Freddy’s Pizzeria’ livery in 1989, with Freddy himself on the tail.
4) 1984, we order 62 757s and only get 51. Not much in between, in 1993 we order 40 more 737s, and in 1994 we order 50 777s. In 1997, we almost go bankrupt and we stop flights from 1997-1998. In 1999, we almost go bankrupt again. In 2001, our final flight was from Chicago O’Hare, to London Heathrow. We go bankrupt due to too many purchases.
