My work calendar dictates that Thanksgiving was yesterday. You Americans can put up with being a little early.
Potatoes, turkey, and…. Other things, what do you prefer about the typical thanksgiving dinner? Do you eat something less typical? If you either don’t personally celebrate the holiday, or are from a country which doesn’t, do you have a similar celebration? Do you have a meal for it?
Our Airline Department’s food services want to know, apparently.
@TheMouse Maybe try making tarts instead like I do.
Better suited to our size.
@TheMouse never say never
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26
I have tried it each year. (different kinds too, INCLUDING homemade!)
It has not gotten any better.
@TheMouse maybe you just need to try my pumpkin pie
@TheMouse no
@TheMouse Oh no! They've been infected!
@Solent19 In Wakanda?
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26
how wude!
we don't do that here
@Graingy sounds like a dish that would be eaten at a thanksgiving dinner in October
@Eggplant eggplant pie
@TheMouse He who denies liking pumpkin pie, has some reason for wishing pumpkin pie doesn't taste good.
@TheMouse
Fickle thing. I've had great, I've had terrible. Haven't had many, though.
@TheMouse you’re horrible
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26
Idk, I have never liked it. I love other pumpkin things, just not the pie. It’s horrible imo.
@TheMouse how could you not like pumpkin pie
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 @Graingy i did remember something about that but didn't mention it because I wasn't sure. Well now I can be sure.
@Graingy
Originally it had to do with that, but it actually had a ton of different stories behind it until Lincoln made it a national holiday, I would suggest you read about it a bit.
My favorite food? Idk. Anything but pumpkin pie. Hate that stuff,
But my favorite Thanksgiving food is stuffing
@Graingy @overlord5453 in the US when the settlers first came here (specifically the ones from the mayflower so not the ones who ran around killing native Americans) after their first harvest they held a celebration thanking God, this the name thanksgiving, however, Abraham Lincoln Made it a national holiday in 1863 so in the US it is now celebrated on the last Thursday of November
@overlord5453 Other way around iirc.
In the US it was something to do with whitewashed genocide, if I remembering right.
No idea for the other countries.
@Graingy Christmas is celebrated as Jesus's birthday right? Like that, what's the reason behind thanksgiving? Is it something religious or something historical?
@overlord5453 ??????
@Graingy uhh I see. What's the lore behind it?
