The guns attached were highly experimental, same goes for the engines. Unfortunately, this ment that the engines were extremely unstable

December 1st 11:00 AM, 1978. The F?? had engine problems, and the guns caused problems and metal fatigue on the nose
This led to the plane going into a stall during landing. The pilot, Major Greg Bord, ejected in time. He said "The plane was about 10-30 seconds from touchdown, before take off I noticed the gear was damaged.. I thought it wasn't that bad though."
