On December 8, 1994 at 5:09 PM, a World War II-era, Brood class destroyer the VD Hummock is sank by an Emeraldi Su-17 after the Fitter had mistakenly identify the Veridisian vessel as Bourbonnian.

Veridisian Valkyries, which were conducting a combat air patrol mission over the Tiucana Sea, received the distress call from the carrier fleet.

They immediately intercept and promptly shoot down the escaping Fitter.

Later in the early morning hours of December 9, at 2:34 AM, the Veridisian Air Force conducted a retaliatory airstrike against a key Emeraldi airbase. The airstrike was approved by President John B. Hughmeier Jr.

Under the orders of the Federal Council, the entirety of the Veridisian Federation will be involved in military matters regarding the Tiucana Islands War. The conflict has been fought for more than two years now by a single Veridisian state, the Kingdom of Bourbonnia, between the Emerald Kingdom over the disputed territory of the Tiucana Islands.

With the two attacks, the Veridisian Federation began military operations against the Emeraldi military that would eventually bring down the conflict to a ceasefire, more particularly in the skies.

Of the Last Days is a miniseries that will focus on the aerial engagements by OFJP-developed (Optimal Fighter Jet Program) fighters that took place during the last stages of the Tiucana Islands War from December 10, 1994 to June 22, 1995.

The Tiucana Islands War was a conflict fought between the Kingdom of Bourbonnia and the Emerald Kingdom over the disputed island territories of the Tiucana Islands; it is basically a Veridisian version of the Falklands War. The disputed territories have been fought over between the two states since the mid-17th century. Military skirmishes took place there, but a direct military conflict never occured until March 7, 1992, signaling the start of the war after an Emeraldi destroyer fired upon a Bourbonnian military outpost.

After the aforementioned incidents above took place, the Federation began its military intervention in the conflict in December 1994. This would be the last military orders by President John B. Hughmeier Jr., as in March 16, 1995, Vaidyanathan Chelvanayakam would be inaugurated as president. The military intervention of the Federation would become the primary basis for a ceasefire to eventually take place in June 1995, ending hostilities between the Federation and Emerald Kingdom. However, skirmishes between the two countries have occured since, including small-scale military confrontations that took place between August 19 and September 5, 1996, and it continues to adversely impact each others' relations.
