I hate hands so much

20.1k Axartar  2 months ago

The sheer amount of connections going wrong when mirroring took me over an hour to fix. it works now though at least and I put it on AG2 to mimic how mahoraga started using cursed energy to fight back against sukuna in shibuya. I dont know if it accurately correlates to two wheel spins but i feel like its not crazy far off regardless. also does someone know how to bulk reduce the mass of parts, like multi-edit for mass

upon about an hour of xml editing and gently trying not to break things while getting distracted, the arms have dropped around 2.25k lbs each, so a total of 4.5k

Well we're fucked. Best start now to find who will lead the revolution against the terminators.

@jamesPLANESii wow thats pretty cool, i never thought of that, but with the hands ive got right now, theyre so prone to connecting to anything and everything, i think ill bite the bullet and just do it manually, tysm

A tip for making connections for mirroring easier, when you mirror stuff, seperate everything attached to a rotator out, so that when it's mirrored, none of the parts are close to anything else on the other side of the build, or even its self.
This is kinda hard to explain without a picture lol

Use overload, and open the scaling tool. Make sure "calculate mass" is ticked, and scale tour build down to a smaller size. Then open the scaling tool again and make sure that "calculate mass" is unticked, and scale it back up by the inverse of the amount you scaled it down by.
    Bam. Bulk reduced mass.
    .
    Notes:

    1. This only works for the whole build. If you only want a part of your build's mass reduced, save that part as a sub assembly, create a new aircraft, then bring in the sub assembly and scale the mass, then save it as a new sub assembly.
    2. The mass scales cubically, so if you scale the build by 1/2 in each dimension, the mass will become 1/8th of what it used to be.

@HuskyDynamics01 yeahhh i figured, id have no real way to differentiate fuselage parts

You can technically change properties of multiple parts at once with a text editor like Notepad++ but it's also not impossible to screw up the build in a big way by doing that.

@overlord5453 I found that out, it kept just reconnecting to random parts, disconnecting from random parts, aggravating. and ah. manually. right. not ideal, but doable

For whatever reason, connections go haywire when mirroring, undoing and sometimes just randomly for no particular reason. It's very annoying to deal with. And no, you can't change mass or drag in bulk. You have to do it manually.

No sadly, you have to manually change them
