Six PIF Aircraft Engaged With And All But One Shot Down By Hawks
On November 11, 2024, at 10:11 A.M., three SkyCorps Hawks of the Veridisian Naval Air Wing shot down five hostile Mirage III aircraft from the People’s Insurgency Forces of the CIM, with one surviving the incident. The incident took place 135 kilometers off the coast of South Winter Island.
Just after 10:05 A.M., on November 11, an E-3 Sentry AWACS of the Veridisian Air Force detected six Mirage III aircraft of unknown origin quickly accelerating towards Joint Naval Task No. 162. The bogies were 92 kilometers away from the naval battle group when they were first detected on radar.
Following this, a combat air patrol group consisting of three SkyCorps Hawks of the VAC Triumph’s 212th VNFS was directed to intercept. When they first approached the aircraft, one of the Mirages separated from their formation and began heading towards the intercepting Hawks. At first glance, flight group leader Col. Evelyn Matton thought that the Mirage was going to intercept the Hawks in a friendly manner. However, it soon became clear to her that the Mirage III was a hostile target after it began to achieve missile lock on her aircraft. She immediately alerted the rest of her crewmates and took evasive maneuvers and deployed countermeasures. The Mirage never successfully fired its missile to Evelyn’s Hawk as the two opposing sides flew past each other. With the rest of the Mirages alerted, they began engaging with the Hawks. The flight group splits-up.
As they flew past each other, Sgt. Carl Peterson noticed the markings on the Mirage. They were PIF markings. He informed Evelyn, who then reported his findings to the E-3.
The engagement between the Hawks and the Mirages begins. However, the SkyCorps Hawk is a more advanced and agile fighter, being introduced in 2004 and is the first fifth-generation fighter of the Veridisian military; the Mirages were no match against them.
The Veridisians immediately took the upper hand of the situation, as Peterson’s AAM-96 successfully achieved missile lock behind an unsuspecting Mirage. He fired it, and the missile successfully dropped out of the weapons bay and began tracking the target. The Mirage’s right wing was torn to bits when the missile detonated its proximity fuse, and the pilot ejected out of his or her plane.
On the other side of the engagement, another pilot, Lt. Charlotte Harriets was being chased by a PIF Mirage while chasing the tail of another Mirage. Evelyn intervened, and began chasing the pursuing Mirage behind Harriets’ tail. As Harriets’ pursuing Mirage locks onto her aircraft, she performs a Cobra maneuver. This deceives the PIF pilot, who fired the missile towards a friendly Mirage. Evelyn, who witnessed the Mirage take down their own ally, fired her aircraft’s internal autocannon, which was perfectly aimed at her crosshairs. The Mirage’s engine is severely damaged and is subsequently shot down, and the pilot ejects.
A fourth Mirage attempted to intervene, but Peterson swiftly closed in. He fired a WVR-IR 86 missile and shot down the PIF Mirage in an explosive fireball, killing the pilot instantly.
A fifth Mirage, attempting to escape the engagement, is shot down by Harriets, who snuck under the bandit and fired a WVR-IR 86. According to Harriets, she observed a huge, long missile being carried under the fuselage of the Mirage. She believes that it was a Harpoon missile, and that the Mirages were conducting an anti-ship mission against Joint Naval Task Force No. 162, with four out of the six bandits acting as fighter escorts.
The three Hawks, now reunited, attempt to shoot down the sixth and last Mirage. However, this action was turned down by the E-3, who stated that they had unleashed enough bloodshed against the PIF for the day. The flight group spared the Mirage. In turn, the Mirage dropped its weapons into the sea and retreated.
Twelve minutes after the engagement, helicopters were dispatched to pick up the two surviving pilots. They were rescued, but were taken as POWs.
The Veridisian Navy has yet to publicly announce an official statement regarding their current status, and the Veridisian military is planning to defend its military bases if the CIM prompted a retaliatory response against them.

Ye see that Airfield over there? Bomb it. The RLA (Retronian Liberation Army) will join.
@SPsidearm Of the 45% that the CIM owns, what can we freely perform an airstrike on?
CIM is acting too fast... what are they up to…
I think I need to consider the necessity of overthrowing CIM and expelling it from the party

45% of our Airfields are theirs.
So, we're using Airliner Airfields.
@SPsidearm Does CIM have full control of Retro's airfields?
