Guys, are there a "software limitation" to speed for prop planes? (with no xml modding, I mean). I'm trying hard to break sound barrier, but It seem that in level flight there is a limit around 730 Mph, just below sound barrier. Anyone have "legit" break it with a prop plane?
I've actually gotten 1100mph using a 100% stock prop plane. Though it is essentially breaking the game because it doesn't go past the speed of sound when you put it in slowmotion. In normal speed the body and wings vibrate violently. Plane is here https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/DlKZ9N/Supersonic-prop
I have flown 800 AND more, you can find the corresponding post on my page
@Giggitymerf Software limit is 760 mph. This is a sort of fake sound barrier, and is not tied to altitude.
I think I did that too but at 10000 feet. But in a dive
Wait, yeah I did break the sound barrier.
I built a no mods propeller aircraft that reached ~753mph in a dive. I think I was at either 40 or 60 thousand feet. I think I might have broken the sound barrier
Well. I have almost. I was taking off of USS Beast With my Nakijima Kate. But then 2 minutes into the flight...at 10,000 and reaching 680~ I got an alert saying "Engine Overspeed. Slow Down." And alarms went off (is this any update???) and then the propeller blew up...
@KINGxACE99 i know it, my friend. But at present i think the game have some semplifications, and soun barrier i ipotize is at 760 mph without regard for altitude. It appear a limit speed for unmodded prop planes
technically, you CAN break the sound barrier with props since the sound barrier is actually a lower speed at higher altitudes because the air is less dense, making it so that soundwaves have less molecules to travel on. i probably didnt explain this well, but meh.
Into dive i scored 1150, the screenshot is above
@Baldovino Here it is. You have to get to about 50 thousand feet, build up speed in level flight, and go into a dive.
Actually it is not impossible to go beyond the sound barrier theory (the actual speed to a certain quota) but it is impossible, or at least for now it is, exceed 760 mph, the speed at which I think the game applies the great drag, regardless of the flight altitude.
A dive with a prop plane at 1125 mph? yes we can!
@Pauciloquent probably, and it might have gotten slower in a update...
Here's the link@Pauciloquent
Yeah, sure, give me a min. Also, might of exaggerated a bit because it's kinda old, but it can go fast.
@Pauciloquent
Reaching space with a propeller seaplane yes we can
@MrVaultech A hybrid prop jet that goes 2000mph??? what is it called.... can you make a link?
At 20.000 foot i teorically broke the sound barrier (659 mph) scoring an amazing 750
LINK to screenshot
(It's a seaplane, but taking off is very difficult)
I built a hybrid plane that was part prop and part jet engine that went to 2000, but I'm not sure that counts...
and it is not modded, since I did not know how to mod back then, but now I do!
I think this one I made long time ago can reach ~780 mph. try it and upvote if it did. https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/343eBe/P-51-Mustang-With-Ammo
@Mrwhiskers85 Interesting... I can't find any good info on it. but I did find a mentioned NASA experiment that demonstrated that propellers can generate positive thrust above the speed of sound....
@Pauciloquent i agree
@DarkLithium got it to 748mph at 40000ft technically mach 1.133676872.... but i think that the game has the speed of sound sett at 760mph no matter how high you go....
