CIM Planes Sink Four Corvettes and Eight Missile Boats And Severely Damage A Frigate
One of the worst attacks against the Veridisian Navy (in the SP-Verse) occurred on November 23, 2024, just after noon at 12:02 P.M., when CIM Mirage IIIs successfully ambushed a naval battle group (VNBG 95) and sank four corvettes and eight missile boats, and severely damaged a frigate.
The Mirages were armed with unguided bombs, rockets, and anti-ship missiles (presumably Exocet missiles).
Prior to the attack, VNBG 95 consisted of a World War II-era battleship, a cruiser, six destroyers, six frigates, ten corvettes, and sixteen missile boats.
VNBG 95 was traversing the Wright Sea and was roughly about 156 kilometers from South Winter Island when the attacks occurred.
Two CIM Mirages were detected on VBS Fervid’s radar system at 11:55 A.M., initially closing in on VNBG 95, but the Mirages retreated. At 11:59 A.M., four CIM Mirages were detected. Destroyers VD Clamorous and VD Safeguard armed their weapon systems, and at 12:00 P.M., one of the Mirages fired an Exocet missile. The Exocet is destroyed by an RIM-116 fired from the Clamorous.
Soon at 12:02 P.M., twelve more Mirages were detected closing in from the southeast, and the entirety of VNBG 95 was alerted. Twenty more were detected coming in from the west, and ten coming from the northeast. Immediately, all the destroyers of VNBG 95, as well as VBS Fervid and VC Amaterasu, fire their SAMs on the impending Mirages. Due to the heavy radar traffic, some Mirages were able to successfully reach their target.
The first ships to be sunk were five missile boats—VMSB Toorynga, VMSB Khaf”aem, VMSB Xhiddeukha, VMSB Sydrig, and VMSB Byyldo’n. Two Mirages approached VNBG 95 and dropped six bombs onto the missile boats, all of which successfully hit their target (two bombs reportedly hit Sydrig). The Mirages then attempted to escape, but a CIWS Phalanx from Clamorous shot the two planes down.
Two more missile boats (VMBS Abhaahei and VMBS Plysgaang) were sunk by the Mirages after an Exocet missile successfully destroyed the vessels; the suspected Mirage was shot down. A third missile boat, VMBS Dzoorceil, was sunk after sustaining heavy damage from unguided rockets.
The Mirages’ attention took to the worst when a corvette (VCV Flamberge) was sunk by two Exocet missiles, followed by another corvette (VCV Inundate III) after bombs heavily damaged the decks on both sides. A third corvette (VCV Quave) was sunk after an Exocet missile destroyed and critically damaged the hull and the engine room.
The frigate, VFG Extempore was severely damaged after an Exocet missile damaged its back deck. The Mirage which fired the Exocet missile was shot down by Extempore.
The worst documented damage from the incident occurred with the fourth corvette, the VCV Anguish V. The corvette was initially slightly damaged after rockets hit the ship’s deck and stern, but it was not enough to incapacitate the ship whole. Then, a Mirage approached the corvette from a westerly direction and dropped four bombs on the ship, followed by another Mirage coming in from the south dropping the same amount of bombs. All eight bombs successfully damage the ship. After the Mirages, an Exocet missile was fired towards the already severely damaged corvette and destroyed its missile bays. The missile bays were stored with missiles, and the impact caused a simultaneous detonation of the weapons that obliterated half of the ship entirely.
The ambush against VNBG 95 only lasted for three minutes. Of the three minutes—twelve Veridisian Navy vessels were sunk; thirty-three CIM Mirages shot down prior to reaching VNBG 95 with an additional seven after flying over the battle group; fifteen Exocet missiles intercepted; a frigate severely damaged; and 203 personnel were killed, with the single, largest loss of life coming from the Anguish. The crew onboard Anguish did not have enough time to escape and only a handful survived.
The incident would have been prevented altogether. VerdAir Valkyries were conducting a CAP mission less than twenty-five kilometers from VNBG 95 when the ambush took place. It is still uncertain why the Valkyries failed to intervene. It has been theorized that the nearby E-3 AWACS failed to detect and identify the Mirages due to heavy radar traffic or faulty avionics, so the Valkyries did not pursue the CIM planes; they were prohibited from freely engaging enemy aircraft due to rules of engagement.
Currently, as part of Operation Falling Star, the Veridisian military is planning a retaliatory aerial campaign against the CIM to hamper its air force’s ability to deploy its aircraft into the skies, as well as to weaken and degrade the overall strength and integrity of the CIM’s military.

@JSTQ
It's citizens.
Also, it's extremely unstable. It's Tier-1.
@SPsidearm … who know
Then I'll rely on your villagers to share controllable nuclear fusion technology with us
@JSTQ
No, it's not for war.
@SPsidearm MDA has an abnormal aversion to nuclear weapons because they developed PTSD after being bombed by TB. But that's not important, even TUPL himself evades this restriction by developing the sub nuclear weapon FAE.
@SPsidearm
Not sure

Polonium?
@SPsidearm
Also no
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26
Plutonium?
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26
Nice
@CrestelAeronautics but only I have it (you will get your shipment soon)
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26
But cordium does
@SPsidearm how many times do I have to say URANIUM. DOES. NOT. EXIST.
@SPsidearm That ground invasion has yet to be considered, besides it's an enormously huge deal to invade a country in a universe where international laws do not exist.
Also, we can possibly deal with their B-27s with everything we've got in our air force.
@AManWillDieButNotHisIdeas
Heads up,
We discovered a Sub-uranium like mineral in one of our mines.
We've sold them to civilians.
@AManWillDieButNotHisIdeas
The B-27 'Marauder' is a bomber based on the Tu-95. With an Open bomb-bay, it will cripple your defenses with an FAB-5000.
Ground invasion? The scout regiment will help you.
@SPsidearm
B-27s?
(it's actually B-26)
So they are now using outdated warplanes against us or are they simply wasting our resources?
We are getting increasingly impatient and the more CIM harasses us, the more we want to launch a ground campaign and overthrow Ronteres' regime.
Heads up, heads up!
They're launching 5600 B-27 Marauders into your and the MDA's lands.
