Seventh Contact: Arctic Fire Part Two
1300H. Watcher Theta opens fire on the Arbiter Siren Omitter, starting their second confrontation.
Snowstone had been battered by an unrelenting Hive Siren assault. More than 120,000 had perished in it's defense, and only rising as time goes on. It had become an evolving No Man's Land, and it's defenders had to end the fight. Fast.
The Tactical Forces Military, Wright Republic, Snowstone, and the Watcher Sirens kick into high gear, initiating a total deployment order for combat, and evacuation. At that very moment, the lonely Arctic island was the hottest conflict zone in the entire world.
As the two lumbering Siren battleships exchanged high energy weapon fire yet again, the smaller defenders scramble across the whole island, meeting the Siren horde in a head-on counterattack in an effort to keep them from overrunning the nation.
The 52nd Combat Wing, flying alongside Wright Isles Air Force's Snowstone Garrison, tirelessly screamed over the frozen wastes of the island, shooting down as many Siren landing units as they can down to their last missiles and shells, constantly repelling the seemingly endless waves of invaders crossing over the Eastern and Western coasts. Much of the terrain had been mangled littered by bombs, fallen fighters, and destroyed Sirens.
Though their struggles were miraculously alleviated by the arrival of the mighty supercarrier Watcher Lambda, who had deployed her "daughters" of D-15 Marauder unmanned fighter ships. Numbering in the hundreds, the squadron of extra-terrestrial allies had taken then nation by storm. Large swathes of hostile Siren forces were swept off the battlefield by the Marauders countering in equal swarms. But the assault showed no signs of stopping. The Hive was determined to make Snowstone it's planetary headquarters for their future conquests.
As many as they fell, the waves of Hive Siren units kept speeding across the tundra wastes relentlessly. Each time one had been blown to oblivion by bombs or shredded by cannon and energy weapon fire, another would take the place of the fallen. And each time they withstood the counterattacks, they inched more and more inland. Many villages and towns had already been flattened by the advancing hordes. And so far, even with the assistance of Watcher Lambda, they were merely getting slowed down.
But better they were slowed down, than allowed to run rampant across the frosted plains and ending the countless lives they would have reached.
NOW LISTEN TO ME WHILE READING
In the Western Sea of Snowstone, Theta and Omitter's world-shattering duel resumed. Both wearing down each other's defenses, but neither showing any signs of yielding. Shockwaves of their incredible trade of lethal firepower rattled the frozen peaks of the coastal mountain range, their immense strengths causing even unfortunate allied and hostile aerial units alike to temporarily lose power mid-flight, or get destroyed altogether if they end up within their zone of combat.
The battle over the skies of the tundra raged on. Fighters from both sides fell, with the attacking horde continuously pouring wave after wave of their invading units to no end. The defenders, equally determined to deny them territory, kept rotating counterattacks on the clock, ensuring that they never get to advance fast enough to overwhelm the nation.
While on the ground, rescuers and land forces are bombarded by falling debris and munitions straying off their intended targets; causing terrible casualties. Anti-air positions unloaded everything they could in support of the allies in the sky, and doing the best they can so that evacuations can proceed with a somewhat high rate of success.
Even while facing Omitter, Watcher Theta split her attention to both support the allies, and keep the Arbiter at bay; firing her automatic plasma blasters into the sky, targeting smaller Siren units to at least discourage them from pressing on, or luckily, shoot them down entirely, while her main guns blasting away at her primary opponent.
Theta had effectively turned herself into a stubbornly anchored floating mega fortress, spitting intense firepower in every direction possible, while standing her ground against another vessel of equal strength; a testament to her abilities as an anomalous war machine of the Siren Hive, now gone rogue under her own free will.
Having realized that Theta's arrival merely served to keep her from directly attacking Snowstone, Omitter decided to end their duel once and for all. With her beam lasers charged at max power, she fired at Watcher Theta's particle shield bubble; aiming to overpower her defensive modules and break through to destroy her main core. Sure enough, the Arbiter's beam of intense energy quickly ate away at Theta's shield module integrity, eating away it's deflection strength by the second. At that moment, the Watcher Siren seemed bound for her immediate death...
..Until a gargantuan charge of ionized particles began glowing in place of the shield, coalescing into a sphere of immeasurable energy. Theta's protective bubble had long broken, but this ball of power strongly held back Omitter's fully charged laser beam, and it struck the Arbiter with shock, and panicked confusion.
The very second Omitter's steam of energy faltered, Theta holds the ball of power towards the former's direction, and released it all at once; firing an intense, bright beam of energy enough to penetrate even the toughest of Siren armor and shields.
Omitter had no time to evade as the light screamed towards her in under a second. She took a direct, penetrating hit to her central core, and her systems very rapidly began to fail, along with her very life disintegrating right before her eyes.
Remnants of Omitter's core began their rapid loss of energy as her hull broke apart and scattered. A blue flame towered high into the skies of the Arctic. Although deadly, carried a rather ethereal beauty to it.
Perhaps, in her end, Omitter felt contentedness, or tranquility as she was defeated by an opponent who can never be more worthy. But one can only guess how she truly felt in her final moments, and what her thoughts were.
Following Omitter's destruction, the Siren waves advancing upon Snowstone rapidly dwindled in number, with survivors immediately turning tail to escape their inevitable fall; especially now that their superior had been laid in her deep blue grave once and for all.
As the flames and smoke of the aftermath rise, the Watcher Sisters knew that this rebellion had now escalated to a full-on conflict between their kind. The Hive, versus The Sentient. And they knew that preparations for future hostile and potential friendly contacts must be conducted at the earliest convenience.
The Siren War, had truly begun.
And Earth takes center stage, as the main battleground.
