KF-5s Bomb CIM Air Base
BACKGROUND
On November 28, 2024, at 10:21 A.M., a bomb planted by an unknown perpetrator detonated just outside the Governmental Building. The detonation killed 10 people and injured 21, including taking the lives of two children, causing public outcry against the CIM and a national day of mourning.
At 5:05 A.M., on November 29, police were engaged in a high-speed pursuit with a suspect. After three minutes on the street, the suspect deliberately crashed his car near South Winter Island Air Force Base, and began shooting at the authorities; he was shot three times in the abdomen. He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead at arrival. The suspect in question was a Retronian who was hired by the CIM government to assassinate Liam R. Wyatt.
That morning, Governor Wyatt issued a public statement on television.
“We are here to announce that the perpetrator who planted and detonated a bomb nearly twenty-four hours ago has been shot dead by police. Following the autopsy, the perpetrator in question has been identified as a Retronian who was hired by Ronteres’ regime to kill me. This, as well as the attack against one of our naval battle groups that occured a week ago and the consequent sinking of 12 warships and the deaths of 203 brave personnel, has prompted the territorial government of the Veridisian Federation at the SP-Verse, with approval from the Federal Council, signed by President Newmont, to classify and recognize the CIM government’s usage of state terrorism as an extremely dangerous threat to the Veridisian sovereignty and the safety of our citizens. In other words, Ronteres and his loyal supporters are terrorists who have malicious intent to destroy the peace of this world. Under my orders, with approval from Resolution 23178C, that the Veridisian Air Force shall launch a retaliatory airstrike against a key CIM target. Further details of the airstrike are classified information until our warplanes have unleashed bloodshed on the enemy. That’s all I have to say.”
PLAN
As ordered by Governor Wyatt, with approval from Resolution 23178C, the Veridisian Air Force assigned twenty-five of its KF-5 bombers for the airstrike. Each KF-5s was armed with eight GBP-72-500 and twelve LW-GPB-75 bombs to ensure irreparable damage that will be sustained to the airfield during the airstrike. To ensure self defense, they were armed with four BVR-ARH 85 missiles and four WVR-IR 86 missiles.
To provide additional fighter and SEAD cover, four fully-armed VerdAir Griffin fighters and six VerdAir Valkyries armed with the ARM-2017 Dheimyyr anti-radiation missile were assigned to ensure the security of the main flight group.
Because of the distance between the Veridisian territories and the CIM air base, it would take the flight group a total of seventeen hours to reach their target and back, so four Valhallan Angel VATK-80 tankers participated to conduct refueling operations.
In case of technical difficulties, four aircraft carriers were assigned to perform emergency landings for the aircraft while the flight group flies over the ocean. Overall, the strike package consisted of thirty-nine aircraft of various roles.
On December 2, six aircraft from the MDA were given to the Veridisian Air Force—two Grim Reaper flying wing heavy bombers, and three Hypernovae and an Arctic Fox used for additional fighter escorts.
THE BOMBING
The mission began at 6:25 P.M. on December 4, with the tankers and the two Grim Reapers taking off from South Winter Island Air Base first. Five minutes later, the KF-5s, Griffins, Valkyries, and the rest of the MDA aircraft soon followed. They reached the combined squadron of tankers and Grim Reapers within three minutes and they began heading for a westerly direction.
One hour into the mission, one of the Griffins reported that his weapons were jammed. The pilot was unable to quickly rectify the problem, and he aborted the mission by performing an emergency landing on VAC Expedite. Five hours later, another Griffin suffered technical difficulties, and proceeded to abort and performed an emergency landing on another carrier, the VAC Longbow. By then, the strike package would have flown at a considerably safe distance away from the MDA airbase at Wright Island.
At 2:03 A.M., the strike package detected four B-27 Marauders on radar, heading towards them. The Arctic Fox and a Griffin intercepted and engaged the Marauders, who in turn fired their turrets at the intercepting aircraft.
The Arctic Fox fired two WVR-IR 86 missiles on two B-27s; both were shot down. The Griffin on the other hand fired an AAM-96 Nocadtyl missile and successfully shot down another B-27. As the pilot quickly closed in onto another B-27, he switched to guns, and promptly shot it down.
The intentions of the B-27s are clearly unknown, but it is speculated that they were attempting to intercept and engage the strike package so that the mission would fail.
Eight hours into the mission, faced without any of the fighters from the CIM, at 2:51 A.M., the airstrike began as the tankers diverged from the strike package with the two Griffins following the said planes to guard them.
Three minutes later, the Valkyries reached within firing range of their Dheimyyr anti-radiation missiles. The CIM airfield was littered with air defenses; most of them were successfully dealt with and put out of action.
The Grim Reapers are the first to reach the CIM air base and they began performing carpet bombing operations. The bombing substantially destroyed much of the air base’s hangars, and five B-27 Marauders parked outside were destroyed. Parts of the runway were bombed too.
At 2:56 A.M., the KF-5s diverged into five separate groups to attack different parts of the airbase, and at 2:59 A.M., on December 5, the first KF-5s dropped their munitions on the remaining hangars, reportedly destroying five B-27 Marauders and other nearby structures. The second and third wave of KF-5s proceeded to bomb both runways, inflicting irreparable damage due to the absurd amounts of bombs dropped. The fourth wave of KF-5s destroyed most of the buildings situated within the airbase. The fifth and final wave proceeded to bomb the hangars again, destroying an additional seven B-27 Marauders.
As the KF-5s escape, AA guns and flak artillery fire chaotically into the air, hitting none.
The airstrike lasted roughly five minutes, and 483 of the 500 bombs with an additional 32 from the Grim Reapers were successfully dropped, destroying numerous structures and sixteen aircraft and damaging the two runways beyond repair, while sustaining no losses besides the two Griffins that aborted the mission.
An additional four B-27s were shot down before the airstrike.
The strike package finally returned home safely at 11:48 A.M. after a grueling 17 hours and 23 minutes of flight in the air.
AFTERMATH
Governor Wyatt congratulated the pilots shortly following their return. In a social media post, he made a stern warning to Ronteres’ government, quote:
“The Veridisian government has necessarily did their job in ensuring to protect this world, its allies, and its citizens from the forces of evil. This is an urgent warning to Ronteres, that if your government refuses to back down and instead, further escalated tension between you and the Federation, the overall obliteration of the CIM will be ensured. We dare to do it again if you keep misbehaving.”

@SPsidearm Nevermind. Maybe the Autumn Fox MBT could be useful if we were to ever encounter these armored mammoths.
@AManWillDieButNotHisIdeas
Autumn fox.
@SPsidearm Might as well use our Leopards or Abrams instead. If that's not enough, maybe a Valkyrie would be helpful. And if that's not enough too, we're just going to bomb them with 500lbs bombs instead.
@AManWillDieButNotHisIdeas
You lended challanger-2s cannot pen the Ret IS-7.
@SPsidearm We don't retire (or put out of service) good stuff here in the Veridisian Armed Forces.
@AManWillDieButNotHisIdeas
Teranu, expedid, Retro. The old motto of the Retronian armed forces.
The Retronian IS-7 is being worked on. So adopt a new tank and retire your challys.
@SPsidearm I knew it those MFs from TER would nearly perpetrate such a terrorist attack. Glad we stopped them in time (I'm still working on that post).
@AManWillDieButNotHisIdeas
Its probably sarin. Stupid Zho cut contacts with me. The Faction mentioned is TER.
@SPsidearm Is Agent 15 sarin or does it have a composition similar to sarin? And what is the CIM faction?
@AManWillDieButNotHisIdeas
There's a certain man who sells.... Agent 15 to a certain CIM faction.
@AManWillDieButNotHisIdeas
"POAL ANTIZ-PANSTIR, POALED! FYJAH!" -cim t-72 gunner.
Pantsir means tank in gueso-retronian.

What about nerve agents? Can they produce it or buy it from an unknown source?
@AManWillDieButNotHisIdeas
How do you say 'Load AP, Loaded! Fire!' in verdisian?
@AManWillDieButNotHisIdeas
No but, a paper of nuclear fission was sent to the Retronian Council, but undeniable rejected due to careless procedures.
Nuclear weapons were never made.
@SPsidearm One more thing, are they capable of producing chemical weapons?
@AManWillDieButNotHisIdeas
Details?
@SPsidearm Well guess what, their goals are somewhat coming true. They recently failed a terrorist attack at a resort on Jungle Island. (Catch you up once that's posted)
EDIT: It was a major terrorist attack foiled.
@SPsidearm So I am very reassured. And I'm just taking away the normal communists among them, let's just let the other human like creatures do as they please.
@JSTQ
Its unlikely that the CIM will target you completely.
Their goals are to counter Veridisia and Maywar.
@SPsidearm Although I don't have a tank, I have anti tank weapons. I just lack breakthrough methods for offense.
The M-16A has not been released yet, just to wait for the completion of the development of new weapons
Moreover, if CIM really chooses a complete war, the next day MDA bombers will carry XB-1A/B cluster bombs.
@JSTQ
Prepare for T-72s if they found out they're tricked.
@SPsidearm Wow, to be honest, I don't know about this. It seems that ANSA has a job
It seems that they have prepared two sets of plans. But it's okay, anyway I'm planning to trick them.
@JSTQ
From what I've heard,
Yes. The CIM is trying to get 25 T-3s (phoenix Loadout) and a batch of your FT trees.
This is due to;
1. The CIM retiring it's only an old Mirage-3 fleets.
@SPsidearm CIM is attempting to request my weapon support, which will initiate a continuous event.
The previous discussion about whether to support CIM was interrupted due to his declaration of war. So this is a new one. The reason for its occurrence is that CIM made concessions due to the war situation
@JSTQ
What's the negotiation note (if there's any)?
