so the past few days I've been gone, and I now work as an online taxi driver(hopefully not for long) in my spare time between studies.. EV sucks(atleast the one I have).
in short, the company I work at provides rentals but in the form of EV motorcycles for "GO GREEN HECK YEEA" which is something, but... for the past few days I've been using it, it's... not that good.
|[ Pros ]|
- relatively silent ride(rolling speed sound is still a thing you know, and everyone's noisy so..)
|[ Cons ]|
- terrible acceleration(especially when you're from 0km/h)
- terrible top speed(60km/h.. advertised. in reality, it only goes up to 40km/h, and that's only when it's battery is 80%+ above)
- terrible range(only having 60km per charge, but on the field you'll only get to 40km at most since otherwise you can't really move well thanks to low battery amount impacting speed and acceleration)
- barely climbs inclines with cargo/passenger(literally the most important thing for my work)
- lacking amounts of recharge stations(to be fair, I'm not downtown and more on the edges, but still.)
it's honestly just.. it's not time yet for EVs I think.. in Indonesia that is.
for scooters and small daily use transportation? maybe.
for road use and other purposes? not yet(beside infrastructure and whatnot).
the best analogy I could give(despite maybe most of you don't get it eitherway) is it's like a ship.
you can easily and cheaply make a coastal or river ships & boats, but oceangoing boats? not yet.
anyway this has been chiirambling, chii-se!
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 fair enough
@Michiganstatepolicethe2nd the problem with tesla is the cybertruck, and that's because they let elon have too much power in making it, so the rest of them are fine
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 alright, I should mention that when I mean electric car i mean tesla
I know not all electric cars aren't teslas but tesla EV'S make the vast majority of electric cars
As a company they are rather sketchy so I am skeptical of teslas specifically
@Michiganstatepolicethe2nd not really, since you find lithium to be a lot more dangerous then it is
Fair enough right?
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 even then it's not a hate, just a
I won't ride one until they stop using lithium
@Michiganstatepolicethe2nd I beg to differ
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 not liking to be in fast cars.
And a rather reasonable hate
@Michiganstatepolicethe2nd so it's a mix of not liking fast cars and a unreasonable hate of electric cars
Most people wouldn't find this an issue, i find it an issue because the only tesla cheap enough to buy are used, at the very least a Toyota pickup truck will last 30+ years with good too moderate maintenance
Now the reason I won't driver and or buy a tesla is simply due to the 10-20 year lifespan, and the gradual performance drop during this, plus the comments below
So it's a 50/50 between acceleration and the battery
Doesn't help that tesla's in general are 2-4× more fatal than the national average
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 yep bassically I ain't driving nothing that fast, the explosive electric lead just doesn't help
@Michiganstatepolicethe2nd multiple people have crashed in Teslas and survived so…
@Michiganstatepolicethe2nd ah, so you just don’t like fast accelerating cars then
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 any other questions?
If that's too long
The difference is the application, lithium is a extremely flammable substance, said substance shouldn't really be in a speedy box that you can't get out of
Notice how I already said I was fine with electric scooters and motorcycles because it's easier to jump out of the fire?
At the very least most trucks of similar weight stick in the country where they are actually useful and not a 5,000 pound rolling trophy
If I get into a crash with one, I'm dead
If I get into a crash while in one, I'm dead
If I get ran over by one, I'm dead
1.9 sec 0-60 is overkill for a base model sedan
5,000 pounds is a tad much and the door handles are connected to servos, not to the latch itself
It's more or less i won't ride a tesla
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 like I said, the difference is that the electric car is a metal box. That you go inside of
Lithium is prone to explosion when in a collision
The current design trend is futuristic, the door handles are reliant on the exploding battery to function
This is also why I said tesla specifically, I'm fine in a mustang mach E, I just won't buy one
@Michiganstatepolicethe2nd except the chance of a battery exploding is very low, when was the last time a electric vehicle exploded, also then I assume you just don’t have anything that use lipo batteries
@Monarchii yeah hybrid’s are wonderful, case and point, the Prius
