Livery Editor for SP/SP2

Hello Devs of simpleplanes

I just have some few Ideas on how will you devs gonna implement the Livery System to sp.

IDEA no.1:

If you haven't heard of FR Legends, or FRL for short. It's a drift game that consists of front engined rear wheel drive cars that are either japanese, european and more.
Though the game doesn't get that much updates unlike back then.
One of its features that got the game popular is it's livery system.

Which is this below 👇👇👇

I'm gonna use the Philippine Air Force Roundel as the reference, and as you can see it is pretty basic and it's made up of small simple shapes

(Sorry for the money mod, I had that account since 2020).
And I thought simpleplanes can take some inspiration from this, knowing that the sp community has some artistic skills, they can definitely make some decals, liveries and more.

IDEA no.2:

Or just have an image importer, basically like this;
You'll make your decal in a drawing app(ie Ibispaint) and import it to simpleplanes as a png that sticks to the fuselage of your craft.

So how about the "controls" for the Livery Editor?

I'm thinking of a mix between FRL like livery controls and the orthographic mode when you're placing the blueprints for the aircraft

Feel free to discuss/criticize in the comments, I'm interested. Also sorry for my janky English haha :v

    the only "livery editor" ive experienced is blender's texture paint tab and i wonder if sp2 will have something similar where you have to unwrap the entire surface area of the build onto a flat plane for texturing (unwrapping is the process of mapping where faces on a 3d mesh get mapped on a 2d grid to apply some area of the texture to it)

    as far as weve seen the texturing in sp2 is rasterized. not sure if we will be able to export/import image files to edit or have control over the resolution etc. the mesh will have to be unwrapped in some way whether itll be a manual process or automatic which then probably would require some complex scripting on the devs' side

    I feel like a The Crew 2 ish system is going to be more capable, simply one of the best livery creators out there

    @MonsNotTheMonster well, thats true
    but why need layering when you can just attach an image onto the fuselage

    @foury yep, but the layering system is what got me thinking. Like how many decals you can add

    @MonsNotTheMonster Same thing as i said, an image attachment to a part, especially fuselage

    Man, only if FR Legends's devs would be active again. Though the game is only made by two people. And getting updates is basically waiting for enternity. But I really don't mind. I hope for the next FRL update will be a map
