I have been playing Juno (SimpleRockets) for a week now, and I have decided not to leave Space Program for several good reasons.
What I Like About Juno
- Resizing is very easy and feels freehand/directly interactive, making it great for freehand building.
- Copying is simple with options like mirroring and creating arrays.
- The stock wings are nice and easy to work with.
- The stock landing gear is editable.
- The jet engines can be customized in size and shape.
- It is faster to build a concept vehicle (but not replica).
- The render quality is impressive; the image output looks fantastic.
- I can create ROCKETS! there, Rocket plane,, oh my Rockets of course -
What I Don't Like About Juno
- The community is not active and seems to be fading.
- There are no blueprints available unless you install a mod on the computer.
- Parts are not as customizable as SimplePlanes.
- There are no weapons, although some mods exist that aren’t commonly used.
- The play mode is not as interactive as SimplePlanes, and also lack of controls for aircraft; well it is made mainly for rockets after all.
- The game isn't specialized for airplanes.
- There are no piston or turboprop engines available; only electric motors are used for prop engines, lacking the appropriate sound effects.l
-XML looks easy, but not
I built this 51-part jet trainer in just 1-2 hours in SimpleRockets 2 even though I was not very familiar yet. But creating an exact replica is still not possible on the iPad.
The rendering is exceptional - Livingstone 1.0 Rocket
@jamesPLANESii This. I completely forgot about this BS.
@jamesPLANESii True, SR is just for the little quick projects for me
I can't get over the fact that they limited the maximum number of connections to parts.
I suppose it fixes the issue of parts randomly attaching to everything while you're building, but it's extremely annoying when making detailed things where there are a lot of parts that attach to one thing.
@Graingy True.
I assume you mean in reference to XML/FT?
My main problem is the connection point limit. You can only have a certain amount of connections on a single part and it completely destroys any design I come up with. It can be bypassed with raw XML editing but still
@Boeing727200F Good
@PlaneFlightX, that's true. Also, the community is quiet there. When I wrote this comment, I saw only 11 crafts posted in 12 hours, compared to 97 on SP.
I have the game as well, and the biggest problem for me was everything was just different. I'm extremely proficient and skilled in building and coding for SimplePlanes, and everything being different made it hard to do anything more than a simple rocket. It does seem to have good qualities as a space simulator, and I wouldn't mind seeing the multiple crafts feature in SP2 as well, instead of doing something with AI planes and cameras with magnets.
looked at juno for a second
nothing interesting
leaves
@WinsWings yeah
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 Like dead peoples around. The community is kind of dried. There was 60 or more download in a day but NO interaction at all.
Yeah I popped over there to check on them, and the community was dead
