@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 As I said, this is a great discussion topic for the ethics of punishment and redemption. On the one hand, setting a precedent that you can't get away with terrible things just by "changing" is good (though I'm not sure if that man specifically was at all trying to evade punishment). On the other, nothing can un-eat the children, but if the perpetrator wants to give something back, there's reasons to accept that.
It's complicated. And just shoving someone in a tax-funded box has its own issues (labour camps are better IMO).

Fun Fact: Octopuses don’t actually have tentacles. They have eight limbs, but they're arms (for most species). Technically, when talking about cephalopods (octopuses, squids etc), scientists define tentacles as limbs with suckers at their end. Octopus arms have suckers down most of their length.-BBC Science Focus

@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 Because he had a vision of Jesus, apparently.
    Wild story.
Definitely a great case study for the ethics of punishment and redemption.

Born in the Liberian capital of Monrovia to a Krahn family, Blahyi was handed by his father to several tribal elders who initiated him as a high priest in 1982 at the age of eleven. After Liberian military officer Samuel Doe staged a coup d'état against President William R. Tolbert in 1980, the new regime employed Blahyi to perform black magic rituals at the presidential palace in Monrovia to help him win the 1985 general election.

In 1989, National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL) rebel leader Charles Taylor launched a rebellion against Doe's regime, sparking a civil war. Blahyi joined ULIMO, a rival militia group, and operated primarily around the Monrovia area. During the conflict, Blahyi and his men, a group of soldiers known as the Naked Base Commandos, fought without clothing and perpetrated numerous atrocities, including child sacrifice and cannibalism.
