Bug? Possible solve: Aggressive Tutorialplanes

18.2k StockPlanesRemastered  yesterday

Ok so we all know the TutorialPlane has a greater than fifty but less than seventy five percent chance of spawning in aggressive mode. (why it's not the Enemy jet idk) anyway i discovered that this, what i like to call the AggTutor, is a completely different airplane! it features what i estimate to be 600 hp engines and definitely a different prop, one that's five blades.

How did this happen? I was testing the climb rate of my (or should I say Weebabyseamus' that I heavily modified) FW-190

Any way I was in a ninety degree climb and looking behind me when i saw one Tutorialplane climbing with me. i was accelerating so i increased range to a mile vertical and pulled back down to try to get a shot off when a second one appeared with the first one. By this time HE had already entered a dive. I missed the first one and so increased my speed and continued my dive to attempt an outrun when they both moved in behind me. (Mind you at this point I'm doing nearly 500 mph) and they not only caught up but one of them passed me! this resulted in a harrowing low level maneuvering fight in which i was completely unable to use my guns. every time i thought i could outrun them, they caught up, forcing me into more evasive maneuvers. I did eventually get them both to crash into the ground but they almost took me out with there wing tips multiple times!

I'll look more into it and keep this thread updated but for now it looks like a completely new plane, and one that can't be accessed through the game files.

EDIT: Just checked my game version and I am in Public Test.

Stock Tutorialplane performance:
max level speed: 300 mph
max climb before stall from 1000 agl: 4400 feet
max dive speed: maybe 400mph
Engines: 2X 500hp
gross weight 4112, inc. 99 gallons gas

I did find another varient in the files called editor and it has 5 blade props but that's the only change. at 1000agl it has a performance of:
Speed: 360 mph
max climb before stall: 9500 feet
dive speed: 475 mph

So it looks like this is the plane i encountered.

@YarisSedan plenty an ohka has been made throughout the years and I DO have something very similar! (Enter the Super Studley)[https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/L952pM/Super-Studley-Tuned-up]
based on the HS-132, which was a jet bomber based on the HE-162.
The HS-132 also INSPIRED the ohka.

The Henschel Hs 132 was a jet-powered dive bomber and interceptor aircraft designed and produced by the German aircraft manufacturer Henschel Flugzeugwerke AG. It was developed during the latter portion of the Second World War with the intention of being adopted by the Luftwaffe, but this did not come to fruition.

Basically the performance was so bad it was coined a suicide aircraft. It was primarily designed to carry a single large bomb, but like the 162 it had such a week engine that it was very cumbersome to fly. I believe it was said that the pilot may as well fly it into the target rather than drop the bomb and attempt to pull out of the dive.

@StockPlanesRemastered because Yaris mentioned the ohka, and then you responded, so then I thought you were talking about the planes used to carry them (lack of reading comprehension on my part)

@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 Betty's were not used in kamikaze attacks. They were too cumbersome.

@ShinyGemsBro I've only had this happen to me with the tutorialplane.

This can happen with just about any AI plane the game can spawn automatically.
Even the stock tanker can spawn in with a semi-aggressive behavior and start chasing to try and ram you while you're on the ground or in the sky.
    .
Stock Enemy fighters too. They'll give chase but not open fire unless you lock/attack them first.

@StockPlanesRemastered they used the Betty, the G4M (I don’t remember what it’s actual name was)

@YarisSedan Soon after entering service, the Ki-45 was assigned to home defense, and several were dispatched against the Doolittle raid, though they did not see action. The craft's heavy armament proved to be effective against the B-29 Superfortress raids, which started in June 1944. However, its performance was insufficient to counter B-29s flying at 10,000 m (32,800 ft). Modifications, such as reduction of fuel and ordnance, were attempted to raise performance, to little avail, and, in the end, the aircraft were used effectively in aerial ramming attacks.

@YarisSedan Yep. and rest assured I'll be building a remastered version inspired buy what aircraft was used (I believe it was the KI-45) But it appears they're attempting to stay airworthy now

and don't forget their tendency to kamikaze straight into you while yelling the emperor's name just like the japanese in ww2 (except they don't have explosives unlike the ohka)
