Good day.
I come asking how to increase the speed of my aircraft. Oftentimes whilst I build prop aircraft, I run into the same issue that no matter how high I set the HP, it will max out at 200 kilometers and fail to take off. The only way I have fixed this situation is creating multiple engines on my bike, but four engine fighters are not exactly good for looks.
Please inform me how i can get my creations into the air. I have abandoned many builds because of this issue. Thanks in advance.
Drag. Its always drag. I build with 0 drag set on most items and then add as needed when test flying.
if it just can't take off at the speed you want, you can move the COM backwards
if it's supposed to go faster, either remove some drag,
OR, set the propeller HP very low and put a weightless jet engine where the prop is
you can make silent jets by setting the input in overload to something like "Throttle/100" and the power multiplier to 100
It's usually dependent on multiple things but majorly about the drag. Engine HP would not really matter if you have too much drag on your build. To solve this, you could either reduce the drag by setting the drag of a part to zero or by making the drag calculation of that part to 'false' in Overload. Another thing is to use fixed-angle blades by setting it manually in the part settings.
I have a two prop plane which gets to 550+ mph, minimise drag and weight, while upping blade length, horsepower, blade count, if you want less 'ugly' solutions, use overload to increase the engine power to like double
well, we'd need to see what the craft looks like. It can either have too much drag, weight, or both
