A mustang from the 352nd fighter group dubbed the "blue nosed bastards of Bodney" they were a group tasked with ground attack and close air support. They flew mustangs and thunderbolts. One of the more notable engagements that involved the whole fighter wing, was the attempted attack on field Y-29 in (I believe) Austria. The base, and neighboring runways were attacked by what was left of the luftwaffe. They successfully thwarted the attack but took heavy losses.

you know, i think i saw a plane similar to that one in an aviation museum once, i think it's lightly based off a... checks notes "supermarine spitfire", can't remember having heard that name
