The Detroit Plant, opened in 1942 to support the American war effort by taking advantage of local industrial infrastructure and know-how, has just announced its impending closure after years of downsizing. The plant focused primarily on ground vehicles, and was once one of three large Graingy production plants in the United States of America.
The final nail in the coffin was, according to plant management and Graingy executives, "impending economic disaster" in the United States. Political issues previously resulted in the closure of the other two plants in late 2016 after the presidential election. Graingy choosing to distance itself from troublesome markets and "irrational regulations" is not without precedent, though it'll yet to be seen how the manufacturing giant will fill the hole in its production.
This is the first I've heard of this, frankly I'm not surprised.
Note that this does not mean that Graingy products will become unavailable in the US, rather that prices will likely increase.
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 but our will to hold into it is.
@Graingy that factory can not be that valuble
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 Yeah no.
We're talking "so high it's unreasonable" prices. "GDP of a small nation" levels.
@Graingy 500mill USD
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 Shoot. How much?
@Monarchii yeh
@LowQualityRepublic See my bio for countries containing other major plants. Note that it only accounts for plants above a certain size.
mmmmmmmmmmm i wonder where most stuff are manufactured now..........
man, capitalism.
@Graingy da. However you aren’t doing anything with it, and I’m sure you’d be willing to sell it if I paid enough
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 Brother.
@Graingy then can I buy the plant
@HuskyDynamics01 Unfortunately business and trade is closely intertwined with countries' policies. Seeing as the US is a very major market, and that many of our customers and associates are American, this felt important to bring up.
@WisconsinStatePolice We're only PART MIC, and are a very different beast to those lobbyist bozos at Boeing and LockMart and whatnot.
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 To be clear, this is only "The final nail in the coffin". A number of other factors affected this decision, upcoming tariffs just confirmed the plant not worth saving for the foreseeable future. We're cutting our losses and pulling out of the US until this blows over. Fortunately our operations in Canada are strong as ever, should you need to place an order.
@Graingy please, ask them to trust in congress, so far trouble has only run his mouth
yey less military industrial complex
(aaaaaaaaaaaa)
squints at the politics rule
@Boeing727200F The building is being gutted. It will remain under our ownership, just unused. Hopefully it will be able to return to service should the US return to saner leadership.
can I buy the plant when it closes?
@Boeing727200F Que?
Is of has the plant?
