That is the most excessively simplistic idea of communism you can have.
In its most basic definition, communism is a moneyless, stateless, classless society. That can look any number of ways in completion (never even reached), and an even larger number of ways in working towards it.
Some things to clear up:
Socialism does no equal communism (communism is arguably a variety of socialism).
Marxism-Leninism (the primary family of communist ideologies during the Cold War) is a communist ideology, but it does not mean functional communism has been achieved (it's a recipe to achieve communism, or at least is supposed to be). The USSR was communist in the sense of ideology, not function. They were open about this.
To that extent, basically all ML states had (obviously) a state, money, and (unfortunately) class to sometimes great extent.
The USSR had a wage gap (maybe not the biggest one, but it existed) and a multitude of incentives for hard work (some genuine, some corrupt). There was also the issue that there wasn't really much to buy with what money one had, and that in large part came down to the clunky nature of the planned economy. It's quite painful that it all came crashing down just as computer networks were starting to become feasible. They actually considered it, but lo and behold bureaucrats didn't like the idea of losing their cushy jobs (and it was gonna be expensive as balls).
The USSR and the communist experiment in general is immensely interesting, even if you don't agree with their goals. It's worth looking into.
@Graingy communism is about giving everyone equality, which sounds gold on paper, but, a worker that works hard and a lazy person who stays home are equal, so it's not very good
@RepublicofWrightIsles Ish. Communism in its nature is not the product of brainlessness, but many communist governments have done stupid things, as have all. Dogma and degree of control can maximize both successes and failures to shocking degrees. Compare the five year plans of the USSR (acknowledging the human cost of it all) to the Great Leap Forward, as an example.
I can't give such compliments to Nazism, delusion all the way down.
@RepublicofWrightIsles Incompetence does not equal malice.
The Nazis were incrediblymalicious. Hatred was basically the entire thing. Mao was more just an idiot. Yes, there was BS like the cultural revolution, but that's very different than idiocy-induced famine (or the industrialized murder of the Nazis).
The Nazis were very overtly racist and genocidal. There is no such thing as a decent Nazi by the very definition of what a Nazi is.
Communism is a broad set of ideologies, which does not require being evil to fit under.
There's a reason the USSR and it's satellites lasted a lot longer than Nazi Germany, and that's that it was so incredibly horrible as to get itself wiped out in just over a decade.
AnCaps were ok with this result
Yes.
@Graingy can we just agree they have bop music🗣🔥

@Graingy I guess we can agree they're all idiots
And please for the love of all, quit bombing my notifications. It's annoying.
Put your thoughts in one comment, please.
Oh and don't even mention Pol-Pot. That wasn't communist ideology, that was a Death Cult.

@Graingy also, I'm not making nazis seem decent
@Graingy do I need to remind you of pol pot? Who killed anyone with glasses?
@Graingy killing nazis and commies is justified, but not a normal person
@Graingy but it's better if you fix a bad person
@Graingy except when you kill a bad person
@Graingy THERE IS NO JUSTIFICATION FOR MURDER
@Graingy Mao zedong killed 40-80 million people THATS 10s OF MILLIONS OF LIFES!
@RepublicofWrightIsles
To say nothing of the vast difference in timescales involved.
@Graingy buddy do I need to list the kill counts?
If you believe the Nazis were somehow more decent (i.e. less terrible), reasonable people than communists, you're delusional.
