On the bridge of a frigate, all eyes were fixed on one spot. A horrifying apparition that shocked everyone, a dense column of thick smoke, rising from the top of the ice base, burning two destroyed SAM.
Among the sailors in blue uniforms, a man stood tall in a striking white suit. His hair and eyes were silver and his long lab coat almost covered his entire uniform like a cape.
"I can't believe they chose this way..."
The man was Gabriel, the founder, owner and head of research of RRHI. But in this war, he served as a scientist who doubled as an RRHI naval admiral, fleet leader and captain of the Developer-class frigate named after himself, RRS Gabriel. He deliberately gave full control of the company to Raphael and Rachel, believing them to be more capable of leading the company in the midst of the ongoing war.
"Starla on the bridge!"
Raphael and Rachel entered the bridge and were greeted by sailors standing and saluting.
"Save your time, sailors! To your station!"
The sailors immediately sat down to their respective station while Raphael looked up at Gabriel's face.
"Gabriel, how is the current situation?"
"The two SAMs have been neutralized, Snowstone has no air cover at all."
Raphael looked down and looked at the burning ice base through the window. She turned to Gabriel again and raised her voice.
"I want you to return to the main lab immediately to design a medium-range portable anti-aircraft missile. Use readily available spare parts and make sure you make this weapon as cheap as you can, I'm giving you a week to design and I want it in mass production a week after that."
Gabriel raised one eyebrow when he heard Raphael wanted to open a new production line with a sense of haste.
"Why do we need this kind of weapon? Wouldn't it be more rational for us to allocate the cost to the production of seventh generation aircraft?"
"Haven't you learned anything from the Second World War, Gabriel? Quality will always be trumped by quantity. We need this weapon to raise Snowstone's air cover. No matter how advanced the reformist planes are, they will still be overwhelmed if there are hundreds of missiles locking onto their planes. I want a small weapon that can be operated by individual troops, can be hidden easily and has medium range and speed. In other words, I want you to make an AK47 version of an anti-air missile."
Gabriel thought about this for a moment, and found that this option was not too bad and could be implemented easily.
"Alright, what about our fleet?"
"Rachel and I will take care of everything. Besides, this is the perfect time for us to test our sea power in a live show... Now go and create that weapon for me."
Gabriel was surprised by this, Raphael had prepared everything in a very short time. Gabriel finally satisfied with his choice to let Raphael and Rachel lead RRHI.
Gabriel took off his captain hat and put his hands in the pockets of his lab coat...
"Alright, I trust you guys with everything. And remember, Don't give up the ship."
...Casually, he walked off the bridge as he waved to the crew.
Raphael faced Rachel, took off her hat and put Gabriel's oversized hat on Rachel.
"Well, from now on, you will be the captain of the RRS Gabriel, and also the leader of our fleet, Rachel."
"Wait, what?! No! Why not you?"
Rachel propped up the hat that covered her vision as she tried to get her hat back from Raphael.
"RRHI needs a leader to lead the air and ground forces, Rachel. In other words, I have more responsible than you."
Rachel pouted while puffing up her cheeks while Raphael patted her.
"Alright, order the Fleet to split up. Order the Gensokyo-class destroyers to guard Snowstone from the north, east, west and south. They don't have much missile, but at least they can serve as an early warning for the units on the island. For RRS Gabriel, sail to Undermountain Ship Bay. We will provide assistance to the Monarchian in the area."
The crew immediately nodded and the bridge was once again bustling with busy crew members. Meanwhile, the ships of the fleet began to separate from the formation to sail to their respective mission locations.
To Be Continued
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 Plus i make it as if reformist is a strong opponent to make the story more interesting. So its all its about entertaining purpose like what Hollywood do when they make war films. It would be more interesting to follow the protagonist's journey against a strong antagonist instead of seeing the protagonist just fight the protagonist then win with no dramatic story =]
I still learning english, so if you found something strange about my story, please tell me! :D
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 ohhhhhh sorry i missunderstand you at first, i think the allies you talking about is Royalist. Sorry =)
.
You are right, allies power have quantity and quality at the same time. But i also talking about german's main focus on quality.
.
Raphael reminded Gabriel that German's quality lose againts allies's quantity + quality. Raphael asked Gabriel to be like allies who achieve balance and not focus on one point.
.
Gabriel's seventh gen fighter is considered as his focus only on quality because of their expensive cost and slow production rate. Meanwhile, anti aircraft weapons proposed by Raphael are considered as a more balanced solution. Raphael only asked Medium range and Medium speed missile that everyone can use, not a very perfect masterpiece missile that can shot down a star destroyer.
@RB107 I was referring to your reference to Ww2 in which you said “Haven't you learned anything from the Second World War, Gabriel? Quality will always be trumped by quantity” which implies that the allies didn’t have quality compared to the axis, when in reality, they had both quality and quantity
@JSTQ It just crossed my mind just like that. Im not that smart :3
@RB107 How did you come to this conclusion?
@Dracul0Anderson Yes but i found a problem...
.
Who is the real protagonist and who is the real antagonist?
.
Revormist can be the protagonist, they have a good objective but they have different way to achive that.
.
For reformist, the antagonist is us royalist. And for us Royalist, our antagonist is the revormist.
.
The protagonist and the antagonist depends on side we choose... And it will different to each people... Just like a real war
@RB107
I like the idea of making the reformists strong. It makes the story more interesting.
@JSTQ Wait, Reformist is not that weak... Right?
@RB107 "make it as if reformist is a strong opponent"
no if, thanks. Revolutionaries simply lack naval power
@JSTQ I made my story just to tell the story of RRHI itself internally, not the whole loyalist. So yeah, only RRHI you should mean, not the whole royalist :D
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 No, in fact, RRHI is nothing when compared to the Allies. RRHI take their action late than everyone else at that time. I focused my story on RRHI so you will not heard anything about what loyalist are doing. But behind that story, allies are already make their action. So we just send our force to aid them like teacher that always come late when there is a chaos in class.
The royalists thought they encountered a large-scale fighter jet air raid by the revolutionaries.
They are more likely to encounter: over 200 small targets searched by radar.
Are you implying that the Allies didn’t have quality?
