Test Pilot Needed!

27.4k JovianPat  8.8 years ago

I need a test pilot for my next aircraft, which is the first plane of my new series : the J-Series. Try it here.
Don't forget to post a review about the maneuverability, stability, speed, design, and weapons. UPDATE : It's out!

    @EdwardAbckman @Skua @Bobjoezonehill Hey everyone, It's released!

@Bobjoezonehill OK. Maybe I should add a bit more fuel. Thanks for the feedback!

I flew it again noticing that i only tested with the boosters on. It does still go through fuel rather quickly with just the center engine going.

@Bobjoezonehill Yeah, the plane drains fuel pretty quickly, so only use wing engines (group 1) when maneuvering.

@merasmusthewizard You're a pilot? Nice! Have you ever been a test pilot before?

I'm an actual pilot, if that counts

Overall: very nice aircraft. Handles very well.
Only issue i see with this is that it eats fuel quickly with boosters on.

@danishhaziq I've got a couple of other people to help out first (Spikerya and LeoBrasi have both been waiting patiently on me), but after that, sure

@Skua can you check my plane?

@Skua Thanks for the info. Actually my planes with a working yaw was my first Hypnoplane, Ether Vapour and the Eagle Glider Super Sport. I didn't even expect it.

@JovianPat it's alright, half of my planes never get yaw control because it's so difficult to get it working and doesn't do much anyway hahaha. The thing to remember is that it works just the same way as your CoM and CoL for the regular wings. Obviously you need to kind of imagine where your centre of "lift" for the vertical stabilisers would be, though. Because the CoM is usually quite far back on planes of this style, the CoL for your vertical stabilisers isn't far behind it, and it doesn't give you much stability.

As I said, though, it's nitpicking. You've got a pretty awesome plane there.

@Skua Thanks for the awesome feedback! Sorry about the yaw, I suck at it. I've never used Inferno, so I didn't add any. The miniguns can still be squeezed inside. Once again, thanks :)

    • Manoeuvrability: excellent, it's responsive without being twitchy or difficult to control.

    • Stability: a bit wobbly in the yaw axis, which makes aiming tricky, but otherwise fine.

    • Speed: comfortably supersonic with the outer engines on, seems perfect to me.

    • Weaponry: well armed without affecting the flight. Maybe one Inferno would be nice for those of us that suck with bombs haha.

    • Design: a few nice creative details like the stabilisers underneath the wings. I think the front is a bit busy, it might be worth moving the missiles back a bit or hiding the miniguns a little, but generally it's a good-looking plane.

    • Overall impressions: niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

Nice plane, I know nothing about making jets for every time I try it just flips out into a seizure of backflips. The only one I've made has its engines mounted on the wings. The maneuverability took me by surprise because all of the jets I've made with rear engines are very bouncy and have horrible turn rates. Anyway nice plane unique design I love it.

@danishhaziq Thanks for the review! Well the max speed depends on your altitude, but it goes about over 800 mph anywhere.

@JovianPat its become so maneuverable when the booster is on.
