Two earthquakes, 7.7 and 6.4 magnitute has hit central myanmar this day at 12:50pm (28/3/2025) affecting the entire country aswell as neighbouring thai and laos. I live somewhat close to central myanmar, me and my family are okay. But those in Nay Pyi Daw, Mandalay and Sagaing has recieved the worst as of now, a major bridge collasped, an hotel near my city collasped trapping people inside.
The Burmese Goverment has issued an nation wide warning that there might be a third one this evening, im preparing for it in case it happens.
I pray for everyone's safety and those who are in the mentioned neighbouring countries.
Situation report:
The 91 year old Ava Bridge connecting sagaing and mandalay has fallen, its newly built twin bridge, the new sagaing bridge is still standing
Many houses, including 5~9 stories buildings, hotels, in mandalay collasped trapping people inside
Mandalay International Airport terminals suffered major damages leading to all flights being suspended
Many historical loactions in mandalay, including the mandalay wall has badly suffered damages.
The Mandalay University of Tech has suffered major damages, one campus caught fire
The goverment has declared emergency in 6 regions, warning that a third earthquake will be coming
No major news coming from the historical bagan region, some locals saying that many temples and pagodas have fell.
Roads in Nay Pyi Daw, central myanmar has recieved cracks making them undriveable.
Runways at Nay Pyi Daw International and Mandalay International has been reported to be buckled
Traffic control tower collasped at nay pyi daw airport killing all staff on duty
Two unknown aircrafts have been damaged at nay pyi daw airport.
Electrictly has been cut off for most of the country, phone and internet are down or disrupted.
A thousand dead, injured and missing. chaos is all over the country.

@WinsWings thats good to know. The situation is very sad, millions of people were unprepared for it, death tolls has went past the 100 mark, its really unfortunate to see your people, your country's history all to be gone in the blink of an eye.

I was born in Mandalay and lived there until my 20s. Sad to see the broken palace and the Ava bridge
