Graingy PSA: Procedure Update Relating to Blocks

41.8k Graingy  2 days ago

Yeah yeah, nothing much fun here.

Still, this is something that requires people to actually know about to function, so I'm putting this out there. The majority of you can probably just ignore this.

So, blocks.

To keep better track I'll be standardizing my approach to these.

1: Upon being blocked I will use my alt to confirm with the blocker.

While this is technically against rules, this site has a nasty habit of blocking two people for no reason despite neither having ever blocked the other. Until this issue is fixed I feel fully justified in doing this, as the site REALLY should not have a glitch this serious. Obviously if my alt is also blocked then it'll be pretty evident it was intentional.
This is to say, if you block my main but don't block my alt, don't be surprised if I check in to confirm it was intentional and not the site glitching again. (And on top of that, actually respond, not just instantly block the alt without saying anything. Like, c'mon, basic courtesy.)

Not retaliation, confirmation.

2: The block will be made mutual.

Since the site doesn't give you a list of people who've blocked you, only who you've yourself blocked, it will be simpler to keep track of this way. Everything contained neatly within the site itself. Accordingly, if you reverse your decision you'll need to send a proxy declaring so.

This is not meant to signify some sort of revenge or what have you, rather it's just an internal bookkeeping measure that does involve site features and therefore will have to be public.

These measures will be put into place whether this forum stays up or not, I'm just making this so that people who've blocked but later changed their mind actually know what they need to do, otherwise they would be stopped by my own block.

Again, I'd like to repeat that this is only up for transparency reasons.
Blocks don't often get retracted, but in the rare case they are, this is what you need to do.

If this is not relevant to you, literally just ignore it. Seriously, go away.

Anyways, that's that.

    Ignore the blokes below.
    This is strictly informative.

Also, restating what I said on the original post about the site glitch, if you're blocked by me (without having ever blocked yourself) it is definitely a site glitch, save one person I obviously will not name.

    @ShiroNeko Neato. People can't read.
If this could've magically been sent to only people it applies to I would've done it that way, but unfortunately that's not an option.
You're not supposed to be seeing this. So get out.

@TriStar I do intend to move on. I do move on.

The only case where this forum is relevant is if the other party changes their mind. That’s it.
This post is for those very specific people. That’s it.
If you’re not them, go away.

This is a game about building simple planes and discussing related matters. If the other party blocks you whether by a glitch or by annoyance of some kind etc you can just move on, it's not like youre required to interact with everyone on the site, you can just be lowkey with your forums comments etc and just focus on, well, playing the game and sharing good quality planes as the devs intended (im probably quite hypocritical abt this issue since half my activity is just forums and comments but yea this is just my 2¢)

@Cerdd I don’t expect anyone to care, if you didn’t read the post.

The majority of you can probably just ignore this.

This exist solely because of a very, very, very small number of people.
If that doesn’t include you, go away.

    @ShiroNeko

If you really don't want to waste time on someone then just ignore them, you do not need a whole list of everything.

And how, pray tell, do I remember who to ignore? That’s kinda the whole point. It’s like a study guide. Something I can refresh my memory on.

    Then don't try.

Don’t try what? Talking to people I forgot I didn’t have contact with? I don’t go around talking to people I know have blocked me.

The “rule breaking” I’ve talked about in the linked post. The site is busted, messes up majorly, and I want to make sure that isn’t happening. If the telephone line is busted and you can’t call someone do you just assume they never want to talk to you again and cut all contact? So far as this problem exists I feel fully justified in taking a precaution to ensure it isn’t happening. Literally just “was the block on my main account intentional or a site glitch?” That’s it. Seemed so obvious it wasn’t worth addressing.

What is proper use of the site, in your eyes?

@ShiroNeko From my understanding of the rules, this in no way breaks the rules, maybe because I’m taking them at face value, but the rules state: It is every player’s right to block whomever they wish for whatever reasons they wish.
Being blocked by a user in no way hampers your ability to enjoy the game or this website. If someone blocks you, be a better person and simply move on.
If you retaliate in response to being blocked, then you will be banned. Do not post or comment about a player who blocked you, about a specific player who blocked a friend of yours, or about a specific incident about specific people involved in blocking one another. this doesn’t say you can’t confirm to make sure it was intentional, and quite a few people have had it happen to them so it happens enough to be a issue, and the less someone interacts with the community, the more likely it’s a glitch

There you are again with the saving-face. If you really don't want to waste time on someone then just ignore them, you do not need a whole list of everything.
Oh, you typed a message on a post of someone who blocked you and cannot send it? Then don't try. It's not like you spent more than an hour coming up with a small-talk.

Funnily enough. The fact that you didn't even say anything about the rule breaking you're doing, not even trying to defend it— says a lot. I guess you really just want to brush that under the rug, no? Also a cheap shot on the 'salty bastards' comment. You mean we're salty because you're using the site wrong, and, by the way— in a rule-breaking manner? Of course, ignoring the issue is one way to handle it. But just so we’re clear—you’re not fooling anyone with the act. Thought you should know.

Anyway, I thought I should end it here. If you think that's for the best and your mind’s already made up—then you do you.

Like, legitimately. I don't recognize you.

@ShiroNeko The real reason I made this?
    Two things.
One, it pisses me off to type something out under a post and then find out I've been blocked. I want to keep track of who I don't have contact with. Or good relations, for that matter. Funnily enough, that is a problem of effort. I don't want to waste my time on people.
Secondly, if somebody wants to do that then they have to commit. I don't want people unblocking me just to fling some petty insult my way and then block again. They don't get to have that kind of power. You block me, fine, you've blocked me. Your choice entirely, I'm helping you keep to it.
I have had people unblock just to say a single thing to me. It annoys me greatly.
If I'm blocked there's no changing their mind. I might want a reason (can't really fix an issue if I don't know what that issue is, yeah?) but I don't expect to bring them around. I'm disappointed for a bit, move on, and accept that person is effectively dead to me. Big whoop, their loss.
