Future of the GB-8
The Guardian Aerospace GB-8 “Bullhorn” heavy bomber has entered production and service with the Fuerza Aérea Españila/Spinnish Air Force. And the Republic of Spin has sparked a large invasion of For-Rants. Spinnish military units have decimated enemy forces and fortifications. All For-Rantic fortifications along the Border between the Republic of Spin and For-Rants were destroyed prior to the invasion itself. This made it less difficult for armor and infantry divisions to push back enemy lines. The harbor of Brest in the Northwestern most point of For-Rants has been captured via amphibious assault, and all ships held there have been destroyed. Gato transports have dropped armored vehicles and infantry off at the port of Brest to help push inland, and key airfields have been captured. Jerran forces have assisted in the invasion by pushing inwards from the Northeast. The Republic of Spin has ordered 1100 Jerran made half-track vehicles. And 400 of our domestically designed and manufactured GB-8 heavy bombers.
Paris Air-Raid
However, a new challenge appears. Although our forces have already attacked and destroyed the For-Rantic fortifications, forces, and positions, destruction of the factories and sites creating their machines had to be postponed due to the GB-8’s absence. But now that we have these bombers in service, the largest air raid in the history of Your-Up can now take place.
Valiente Air Base features the First Heavy Air Squadron made of 50 GB-8 Bullhorns. They are to rendezvous with 25 GB-8 Bullhorns from the Second Heavy Air Squadron over Toulouse, For-Rants. They are then to advance Northwards en route for Paris, the capital of For-Rants they will target 5 primary military factories, and two smaller airfields housing jet aircraft. In coordination with No-See Jerry, the skies have been ensured to be clear over Paris, as the majority of For-Rantic aircraft are engaged on the Northern Front with No-See Jerry. The airspace was uncontested, although GB-3 Plovers were sent up to escort the bombers. All targets were hit and hopefully destroyed. Anti-aircraft artillery did not expect the 75 GB-8 heavy bombers to be present over the capital city, but they still had great effect. 3 GB-8 Bullhorns were downed, with the crew of all three aircraft either being killed or captured as prisoners of war. 9 other bombers were hit and damaged, but returned to their respective air bases.
Critical losses
A routine patrol of four Conquistador class destroyers, the RSS Conquistador (flagship), RSS Cayman, RSS Gibraltar, and RSS Mandrake, were ambushed by a squadron of For-Rantic torpedo bombers. RSS Cayman was heavily damaged, being struck by a torpedo in the bow, missing the primary magazine. RSS Mandrake was victim of a torpedo detonating near its stern, damaging the steering and propulsion. Both made their way to the port of Brest, which was captured in late 1943. However the RSS Gibraltar was struck by a single torpedo in the Secondary magazine, hitting a weak spot in a starboard bulkhead. During the strike, the RSS Conquistador dodged one torpedo, and claimed to have six confirmed aircraft kills. RSS Cayman claims two kills, whilst the Mandrake confirms three. 100 of the 114 souls on board the RSS Gibraltar were recovered. The casualties are likely from the explosion shortly after the secondary magazine was struck. The four external lifeboats were deployed successfully, whilst the life rafts from inside the secondary building were also deployed successfully. RSS Conquistador took all the crew recovered and brought them separate from the fleet to Spin.
New Fighter Program
as the GB-3 Plover comes closer to its retirement, a new interceptor and air dominance platform is necessary. Introducing the GB-9 “Furia”. A nimble and quick interceptor, also capable of effectively dogfighting, is designed to combat bombers and other fighters. Its radial engine is taken directly out of the GB-4NB Super Screecher, and can propel the aircraft to speeds beyond 470 mph whilst at high altitude.
